2. Spencer
Ogden: the
award-winning
global energy
recruitment
specialist
The energy industry is an ever-changing landscape
with a much publicised skills shortage. We recruit
the best international talent across all energy
sectors and provide industry-leading services to
our clients and candidates that they won’t find
elsewhere, whatever stage of the project life cycle.
In short, we’ve put our big industry experience
and forward thinking where the action is.
With offices in the UK, Middle East, Asia Pac,
Africa, Canada and the US, you’ll find us at the
heart of industry growth, keeping pace with
changing technologies and building strong,
long-lasting relationships along the way.
Filling
the energy
skills gap
As the energy industry grows and evolves, the skills
of its workforce have to follow suit. We specialise
in knowing the right people for the job and our
candidates have the unique experience and
expertise that makes them an invaluable part
of this evolution.
Working across all energy sectors is a big
advantage too. We identify the skills that are
transferable, which means emerging sectors get
the full benefit of candidates who have honed their
talents in more established markets. For example,
those who have worked in offshore Oil and Gas
have often acquired the correct offshore certificates
that are needed to work in offshore wind
And whether you’re thinking about contract
positions, permanent roles or executive search,
we lead the market when it comes to placing
talent where it’s needed.

Enterprise in International Trade 2014, we build our
own talent around the globe from the ground up.
Our Graduate Academy is an intensive training
ground for the world’s top graduates. Thanks to the
know-how of leading managers and directors, we

the industry.
It means we’ll be doing what we do best for years to
come.
Who we are
Sir Peter Ogden and David Spencer-Percival started
trading as Spencer Ogden in 2010, opening two
state-of-the-art offices in London and Aberdeen.
It was a game-changing combination of David’s
extensive recruitment experience and Sir Peter’s
expertise in building large successful businesses.
The aim was to become market leaders in the field
of energy recruitment and offer unrivalled service
to clients and candidates. The rest is history.
The Spencer
Ogden version
of success
1. We don’t behave like other businesses
We’ve set the standard in office design.
Astroturf floors, punch bags, American diners,
clubrooms, 80s days, Cuban BBQs and office
art put the spotlight on doing things differently.
We don’t think outside the box. We’ve thrown
the box away.
2. We’ve grown quickly because
we think faster.
With offices in London, Aberdeen, Glasgow,
Houston, Calgary, Hong Kong, Singapore, Cape
Town, Berlin, Australia and Dubai, we meet
the demands of energy companies across the
globe, working with candidates who deliver. By
4. being flexible, proactive and responsive, we’re
part of the evolving future of energy recruitment.
3. We are innovators
Smart technology drives our business. Our
staff have headset-only software phones, dual
flat screens, cloud-based applications and a
series of mobile applications on iOS, Windows
and Android are available for free to our
candidates. We were the first energy recruiter to
use digital media and we invest heavily in social
network strategies too, like our industry round
table events.
4. We stay focused and hungry
Our team know the energy industry inside out
and have the professionalism that shapes a
great consultancy and drives it forwards. We
also recruit the world’s top graduates, put them
through an intensive training programme and
support their ambition to succeed.
5. Great work gets rewarded
Whether it’s a week working in our Ibiza office
or an iPad for impressive monthly performance,
we give credit where it’s due. This means the
best people stay with us and grow with us. In
2013, we ranked 52 in The Sunday Times 100
Best Companies to Work For. Just one of our
awards. Others include:
• 3-Star ‘Best Companies’ accreditation
for 2013
• Entrepreneur of the Year at the National
Business Awards (David Spencer-Percival)
• OnRec Personality of the Year
(David Spencer-Percival)
• The Sunday Times Top 100 Best Small
Companies to Work for 2013 2014
• The Sunday Times International Track 200
• The Queen’s award for Enterprise in
International Trade
On the Board of
Spencer Ogden…
Spencer Ogden launched as a specialist energy
recruiter in 2010. Since then, the combined forces of
its co-founders Sir Peter Ogden and David Spencer-
Percival have propelled it to an annual turnover in
excess of £50m in four years.
Sir Peter Ogden (Chairman)
Harvard educated and with a PHD in Theoretical
Physics, Sir Peter made a name for himself in
investment banking, working with Merrill Lynch
and Morgan Stanley on both sides of the Atlantic.
He then founded Computacenter PLC, Europe’s
largest computer services company with 15,000
employees and a turnover of £3 billion, Dealogic
PLC, the financial software and data company, and
FlyBlink, the private jet company.
Off the back of his business successes, Sir Peter
was able to set up the Ogden Trust, which pledges
over £1m a year to support bright children from
low-income backgrounds. In 2005, he received
a knighthood for services to education from
Her Majesty the Queen.
David Spencer-Percival (Chief Executive)
Awarded Entrepreneur of the Year at the 2013
National Business Awards, David’s been making
waves in global recruitment for more than 15 years.
He was a Founder and Board Director of the
award-winning Huntress Group – a role that also
gave him the chance to indulge his passion for
taking a more ‘hands on’ approach; he managed
the technology division of this recruitment giant and
developed the much-coveted graduate academy.
The business, complete with 500 staff and
27 offices, was sold in 2007 for £52 million.
There’s been blood, sweat and tears – but it’s been
worth it because what we have in Spencer Ogden
is a global brand synonymous with quality.”
David Spencer-Percival, CEO of Spencer Ogden
