and Availability of Vegetable Oils from Kharif Crop during
2012-13 Season

The Central Organisation for Oil Industry & Trade (COOIT) hosted the 50th
All India
Convention of Oilseeds, Oil Trade &Industry at Delhi on 4th November, 2012 and arrived
at trade estimate of Khariff Oilseeds crop and availability of vegetable oils from kharif
crop during 2012-13 season. The salient features of the trade estimate are as under:

1. As per the Ministry of Agriculture, Govt.of India data, the acreage under oilseeds
as on 18th
October, 2012 estimated at 177.66 lakh hectares against 181.17 lakh
hectares last year, down by 3.51 lakh hectares.
2. Kharif Oilseeds Crop is estimated at 157.50 lakh tons for the year 2012-13 against
last year’s 172.25 lakh tons. Overall oilseeds yield has decreased to 887 kgs/ha
during current kharif crop from 951 kgs/ha. last year.

3. Cottonseed bales production is estimated at 334 lakh compared to 353 lakh bales
during 2011-12. Cottonseed production is estimated at 103.54 lakh tons against
109.43 lakh tons last year and Cottonseed Oil production would be 11.27 lakh tons
compared to 11.95 lakh tons last year.
4. Rice Bran Oil production estimated at 900,000 tons during 2012-13 compared to
880,000 ton during 2011-12.
5. Local Palm Oil production is estimated at 80,000 tons for the current year.
6. The Vegetable Oil available from kharif oilseeds crop and the secondary source is
estimated at 53.57 lakh tons compared to last year’s 56.53 lakh tons.

information.

EC 123/2012-13 5th November, 2012 To All Members Reg : COOIT’s Trade Estimate for Kharif Oilseed Production and Availability of Vegetable Oils from Kharif Crop during 2012-13 Season ******* The Central Organisation for Oil Industry & Trade (COOIT) hosted the 50th All India Convention of Oilseeds, Oil Trade &Industry at Delhi on 4th November, 2012 and arrived at trade estimate of Khariff Oilseeds crop and availability of vegetable oils from kharif crop during 2012-13 season. As per the Ministry of Agriculture, Govt.of India data, the acreage under oilseeds as on 18th October, 2012 estimated at 177.66 lakh hectares against 181.17 lakh hectares last year, down by 3.51 lakh hectares. 2. Kharif Oilseeds Crop is estimated at 157.50 lakh tons for the year 2012-13 against last year’s 172.25 lakh tons. Overall oilseeds yield has decreased to 887 kgs/ha during current kharif crop from 951 kgs/ha. last year. Cont…2
  • 2. -2- 3. Cottonseed bales production is estimated at 334 lakh compared to 353 lakh bales during 2011-12. Cottonseed production is estimated at 103.54 lakh tons against 109.43 lakh tons last year and Cottonseed Oil production would be 11.27 lakh tons compared to 11.95 lakh tons last year. 4. Rice Bran Oil production estimated at 900,000 tons during 2012-13 compared to 880,000 ton during 2011-12. 5. Local Palm Oil production is estimated at 80,000 tons for the current year. 6. The Vegetable Oil available from kharif oilseeds crop and the secondary source is estimated at 53.57 lakh tons compared to last year’s 56.53 lakh tons.
