Hip Hop artist KV The Ghost is preparing to release is debut EP and embark upon his
first tour of the United States. We have created the EP cover artwork and are now creating the
merchandise product for the tour. The theme of the tour will be focused on the Amethyst crystal
and its healing abilities. The objective of the EP is to lead people back to themselves, and to
spread love. When we were thinking about this product, we were focusing on giving people an
alternate method to use when they are going through hardships.
The Amethyst crystal is used for multiple things, but one of them is the crystals
metaphysical abilities to still the mind and inspire an enhanced meditative state (Crystal Vaults,
2009). The objective of the album artwork was for the audience to see their connection to the
universe and nature of themselves while helping create change within. The reason for the
Amethyst being the theme of the product is to spread the message of love and peace as these are
also abilities the Amethyst contains as it is used for the mind and to instill a sense of calmness in
oneself.
The target audience is into seeing things change, as well as seeing things in their
environment change especially in their community. For example, 54% of KV The Ghosts target
audience on Facebook are women from Chicago, who likes the Block Club Chicago page.
Chicago has dozens of block clubs that shows words of welcoming and warning to those who
enter (Breen, 2017). The club at 1700 N. Luna list banned activities, like drugs and alcohol
consumption and reminds you, “God Is Watching” (Breen,2017). Amethyst is used as a symbol
in the album artwork to bring about unity and overcoming things like violence and drugs.
Although the Amethyst crystal is the theme for the product it is not the product we will sell in
stores or at the merch table.

The product we have chosen to represent KV The Ghost is called The Ghost Era Back
Pack. It is designed with a Logo and the words “Love Travels”. The back pack will be the color
purple with gold angle wings above the words. We chose the color purple for the entire back
pack, as it is the color of the Amethyst; we chose the golden angel wings to symbolize heaven
and love traveling as angels. The object of the back pack is for it to symbolize an agreement
between KV The Ghosts target audience and himself; that they will both become messengers
who travel with love and light in the inside. The objective of the back pack is to symbolize love
traveling across the world, and that when someone sees this product they will follow the
messenger and the message.
With research we have narrowed down our manufacturer to two companies. The first
company we analyzed was Rush Order Tees, and the second company we analyzed was
DoodleTogs. Through research we found that it would cost $955.25 to make 25 back packs,
which is $38.21 per back pack. Rush Order Tees also gives a 30% discount and the more units
we would order the less it is per back pack (Rush Order Tees, 2018). If we ordered 2,000 back
packs the price for each would be $ 27.94, which would subtotal to $55,880 (Rush Order Tees,
2018). Rush Order Tees gives the customer options for delivery, as the standard delivery is a free
nine business day delivery time. The order can be put on a four-business day express delivery,
but we would lose some of our discount. For example, if we went with the express delivery we
would get 15.30% instead of the 30% off. If we chose Rush Order Tees, we could also super
save if we wait longer; the super save option gives us a 33.50% discount off of the total cost.
DoodleTogs would charge us $30.29 for each back pack that we make, so for 25 back
packs we would pay $757.17 (DoodleTogs, 2018). If we were to pay for 100 back packs the
subtotal would be $3,028.68 (DoodleTogs, 2018). DoodleTogs, however does not have free

delivery and since it is a company from the UK it would cost more to ship the products to the
United States. For instance, it would cost an extra $45.44 to receive the standard 7 to 10 business
day delivery; it would cost an extra $60.49 for the express 3 to 4 business day delivery.
DoodleTogs does guarantee all items are printed and dispatched within 48 hrs., and that there is
no limit on the order quantity. They also, offer 100% satisfaction guarantee and are available
24/7 to answer any questions.
After review of the two companies we decided to go with the DoodleTogs company to
manufacture our product. We wanted to choose this company, because it gives us what we want
in our product. For the back pack we wanted a solid purple color, whereas the Rush Order Tees
only provided us with a two-tone purple back pack with a white stripe that we didn’t like but put
into consideration because some Amethyst crystals have white streaks in the inside. DoodleTogs
didn’t give us the option to place a water bottle holder, but the fish net pouch design that Rush
Order Tees offered wasn’t what we were looking for. We did understand that it would be cheaper
to work with Rush Order Tees, but we would rather pay the extra for a good designed product
and a product we believe the target audience would love.
We did however, like the fact that both companies offered other product customization
options as well. For instance, they both offered T-Shirt design and Hoodie designs, but
DoodleTogs offered a bit more than Rush Order Tees. DoodleTogs offered accessories, like
creating your own cell phone cases or you can even personalize your own tie, along with many
more items to choose from to customize. We wanted to think future as well as present and Rush
Order Tees offers basic products and DoodleTogs allows us to be creative and create more
products.

Amongst other things, we have decided to not only sell this product at our merch table
and online artist website, but with a third party physical and online retailer. We have chosen to
sell our product at the Navy Pier Store in Chicago, Illinois, because it is one of the places KV
The Ghosts target audience spends the most time at. It is also, one of the places she enjoys going
as something to do for free in Chicago. We have chosen to use the Art Institute of Chicago as an
online retailer. We noticed that our target audience is attracted to the Art Institute of Chicago, as
66% has college education as their highest level and the Art Institute of Chicago is the highest
liked page. The purpose of this is when the target audience returns to their old school website to
check out new work and designs, they will see our back packs for sell.
We have decided to whole sale price the back pack at $60.58, due to the cost of
manufacturing at $30.29. We will sell the back packs to retailers for $90.87, due to the location
of the stores as the Navy Pier is one of the main attractions of Chicago. It is on the list for things
to do in Chicago for tourist and so is the Art Institute of Chicago. To drive traffic to these
locations we will be visiting and meeting with fans at the Pier, as well as Live Streaming an
autograph signing of the back packs at the Store. We will take a tour of the Art Institute of
Chicago and be a guest speaker for one of their lectures. We will plan an event for the Art
Institute of Chicago’s students and give away free back packs to students who participates in that
evenings activities.
