KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain register of road infrastructure assets. Provide accounting support for the valuation of infrastructure assets and
preparation of internal and external financial statements. Maintain documentation of financial management and
accounting policies, standards and procedures.
KEY DELIVERIES
Financial Accounting
Maintain the register of road infrastructure assets,including earthworks, pavements,bridges and electrical assets
and ensure agreement with financial management systems and the Integrated Road Information System (IRIS).
Calculate and establish depreciation and revaluation of the infrastructure assets in accordance with relevant
accounting standards.
Prepare annual financial statements.
Prepare and submit monthly financial statements to the Department of Treasury and Finance.
Policy and Practice
Assist in the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures for the Accounting Manual
and otherrelevant manuals.
Monitor and interprate changes in the Financial Management Act (FMA Act), Treasurer’s Instructions and relevant
Accounting Standards,and recommend changes to policy, accounting treatments and presentation of financial
statements.
Provide training to staff in relation to financial management.
Project Management
Contribute to project teams to solve key financial management issues,including the valuation and depreciation of
road infrastructure assets.
Stakeholder Relationships
Consult with external agencies (the Department of Treasury and Finance, Office of the Auditor General,
Department of Treasury and Finance - Shared Service Centre, other State Road Authorities and otherGovernment
agencies) regarding accounting and financial management policies, practices and issues.
