 A uCPE acts as a networking device and
compute node.
 Therefore, there are requirements in both areas:
 Networking – as a networking device the uCPE has
similar characteristics of a router
 Virtualization – as compute device, the uCPE has
similar characteristics of a compute node in a cloud
computing environment
 Additionally, customers need MANO
(management and orchestration) to automate
and monitor an NFV network.
