Why is it important to do a DROP,COVER,HOLD, on
drill?
• Just as with anything, to act quickly we must practice, practice and practice .
in a big earthquake, there may be very little time to Protect ourselves before
strong shaking
• knocks us down or drops something on us .
• Most earthquakes have a sharp jolt a Few seconds before the strong shaking,
• and we need to drop , cover , and hold on
• immediately under sturdy table when we feel The jolt by practicing we will act
quickly,
• rather than waiting to see if the earthquake will be strong enough ,
• if it is,
maybe too Late to protect yourself.
• Many survivors from the recent earthquakes told that they were saved from
serious injury or death

collapsed houses.
2.Rails are folded, underground wires
broken. Fire breaks out inevitably in large
towns.
3.Tsunamis.
4.The earthquakes cause landslides and
disturb the isostatic equilibrium.
5.Landslide due to earthquake may block
valleys to form lakes.

Constructive Effects:
I.Sometimes the earthquakes cause formation of hot springs which
are very useful to people.
II.The earthquakes sometimes cause submergence in coastal land,
and result in formation of inlets, bays and gulfs which help to
develop of fishing and shipping etc.
III.Sometimes, the earthquakes cause emergence of costs and
bring fertile shore out of water to give chance to develop crop
production.
