1. Chapter 1:
It’s my first time coming to see him in over a 5 months since the incident, It was really a big shock to be
called one day and someone saying that one of your best friends is in the hospital. . Although he
probably hates me right now, I still felt obligated to come and visit him.
“Hello! Are you here to see someone?” One of the Doctors of the hospital welcomed me.
“Yes.” I simply said.
“My name is Dr. Sera. And who are you here to visit?” We shook hands.
“Nice meeting you, Dr. Sera. I am here to visit ….a friend of mine.” I simply said.
The doctor made a face before asking me to just point out the name on the patient sheet. Smiling a bit
before nodding.
“Ah. Please follow me then.” She took me on the 5th floor, into a room on the end of the hall.
Suddenly a nurse came out; she looked at me and put her head down. What’s wrong? My eyes grew
wide as I looked at the doctor beside me.
“I guess he has not cooperated with yet another nurse.” Dr. Lee face palmed.
“What? I don’t understand?”
“Well, um… what’s your name again?”
“It’s not that important.” I said.
Once again, she made a face before smiling again.
2. “Well … Um. This friend of yours has been giving the nurses a hard time, He was admitted a few months
ago and we have tried many different nurses. But he won’t cooperate with any of them.” She crossed
her arms, sighing.
I kept quiet, fearing that I might be ignored by him as well.
“Don’t worry, You’ll be fine.” She patted my back. “Now, go and comfort him. I’ll be back after lunch
break.”
“I guess…” I nodded slowly.
I slowly opened the door revealing a big and all white room, I saw the fruits and flowers are all arranged
on the long table on the opposite side of the bed. I timidly walked inside and I a saw man looking at the
window.
“Who are you and why are you here?” The man said, not looking at me.
He’s scary.
Just the way he was acting made me tense up.
“It’s me …..” I took some steps forward while smiling at him. “I came to visit you.”
“Get lost and I don’t need your help.” He bluntly said.
3. “What?” I said in disbelief.
“I said get lost.”
I crossed my arms and went next to him. This guy maybe scary but I need to find out what made him like
this. I thought, since I only came because my friends told me that he was hurt badly.
“No, I won’t.” I gave him a smile; he frowned and turned to the other side of the bed.
“Then you are as stupid as those nurses.”
“You’re mean…” I slightly frowned at his comment.
“I….am?” he replied.
“… But I like you” I stood up and looked out the window.
“What?” he looked at me in horror.
“What?” I avoided making an eye contact. “I didn’t say anything. You’re hallucinating, Should I get you
some Antipsychotic?”
“No, Do I look like I have schizophrenia?”
“Do you like it here?” I asked, changing the topic.
“It’s a hospital. Who would like it?”
4. “Oh….. Right”
“Whatever.”
Ever since that day, I tried my best to get closer with him again, even though he always pushes me away
by giving insults; I didn’t mind any of those. I know there’s this nice personality behind his mean
attitude.
“Hey, Dr. Sera said that you need to take these medications.”
I placed 4 capsules on the table beside him.
“Again?” his eyes widened.
I just nodded, giving a glass of water to him, I watched him as he weakly gets the capsules and swallow
them one by one when he accidentally pour some water on his bed sheets
“Wait, I’ll get a new sheet.”
I stood up and quickly headed over the door.
5. “Wait.” He suddenly said.
“Why?” I turned around. “… Is there any problem?”
“Please stay here for awhile.”
“What did you say?” I quickly walk towards him.
“Nothing.” He covered himself with the bed sheet. “Go away.”
I chuckled as I pull the sheets off of him.
“You’re a bad Liar.” I kept on chuckling. “Now, what is it?”
He sighed.
“I just need someone to talk to.”
Great! This is the perfect catch to get to know him more. I tried to hide my happiness but one thing
always makes me wonder, ‘Why do I care for him so much?’
6. “Oh…” I sat on the edge of the bed. “… You’re going to share something, am I right?”
“Well, yes…” he looks outside the window. “… Is it okay?”
“Of course it’s okay; I’m your friend actually.”
Before he starts, he gave me a smile which gave me a weird feeling inside of me.
“I lost hope…” he started. “… I lost hope about my life.”
I knew what he’s talking about, he’s talking about the tumor on his brain. Dr. Sera explained that the
cancer cells on his brain are malignant and he has a month left.
“I have a month left.” His eyes became watery. “… And still… most of my friends haven’t come to see
me, It seems like they don’t care about what happens to me.”
I suddenly felt a pang on my chest.
7. “Nobody cares about me.” Tears began to trickle down his cheeks.
I stood up and I instantly gave him a hug, He was surprise with my actions. I can’t believe this man. I
closed my eyes preventing my tears to fall
“What are you saying…?” I weakly whispered. “Don’t say that no one loves you, you’re hurting my
feelings.”
He slowly hugged me back.
“Look … I will always love you.” I suddenly confessed.
He let go from the hug and gave me a small smile.
8. “I feel the same.” I leaned over and kiss his forehead.
That night Dr. Sera came over to give him wonderful news. She said that he can still be operated and his
life will be lengthened, but one thing Dr. Sera didn’t tell him is when the surgery will turn out successful
he will lose his memory. It was painful in my side when realized we’ll be strangers again, but I also think
that it is the best for him since I would rather have him feel better than dead in a month.
“So, are you going to undergo the surgery tonight at 10 pm?” Dr. Sera snapped me out from my
thoughts.
“Yes, I will.” I’m not surprised. I said to myself, He looked at me with happiness on his face.
I guess this means goodbye.
After the doctor left, I sat in front of him and I gave him a kiss on the cheek. “Good luck.” I said trying
not to cry.
“Thanks,” he can’t stop smiling. “After the surgery, let’s go on a date.”
“A Date?”
9. “Yep!” he beamed. “I can’t wait to be discharged from here after those few months of staying here”
“S-sure.” I just accepted his offer even though he’ll forget this after.
Switch POV
6 months passed…
I was right, he forgot about us. It’s been months since he left the hospital and I haven't heard from him
since. Sometimes I would wish for him to come back to see us, but I think it will be impossible since he’s
completely fine right now.
But that is exactly why I regret not telling him what would happen after the surgery. I just didn't want to
sound selfish and tell him he would lose his memory and forget about all of us.
But, now I wish I had.
I stood in my kitchen, drinking soda as I thought about him. Of the times I couldn’t go visit him due to
not wanting to put him in danger. And I know it was wrong to fall in love with him. I wasn’t supposed to.
I was supposed to check up on him every day as a favor for a friend. And now I feel guilty.
Then there was a knock on my door along with the voice of one of my friends.
To be honest, I didn’t feel like opening it and had planned on doing so.
If it wasn’t for the curiosity of why my friend came to my house so late.
10. “Hey~” My friend greeted me.
“Why are you here so late?” I suddenly forced a smile on my face.
“’m getting married! Next month!!” she beamed. “Can you come?”
A smile formed on my lips.
“Sure! Whois the lucky man?” I asked.
She giggled first and I sighed, knowing that my friend is too excited.
Then she told me.
I blinked. My body frozen in place as I struggled to interpret whose name she just said. She’s marrying …
him? My world crashed in an instant.
“Still there?” She asked me.
“Y-yeah. Um, I need to hung up because I have to go to work.”
“Okay, see you at the wedding!”
After she left, tears threatened to fall down my face. I knew we weren’t meant for each other. From that
time, I didn’t fell for someone again. It seems like I gave all of my love to my first, who’s now my sister’s
fiancé; I still regret that I didn’t tell him what will happen after the surgery. But, I would let him live a
new life than not taking the surgery and die.
In the end, I never in my life regretted letting myself fall for him even though I knew this will happen. He
wasn’t a mistake yet he was my first love.
