Transurethral Resection (TUR) • By:Tanzyanika Hampton • Chapter 10 Part A
What is TUR????? • It’s surgery to remove tissue using a special instrument (resectoscope) inserted through the urethra. This procedure can be performed to remove an enlarged prostate that is obstructing the flow of urine.
TUR • The surgery is done with the resectoscope under general or spinal anesthetic, which requires a stay in the hospital no more than two days. This procedure can also determine if the person has bladder cancer if she it can invaded the muscle layer of the bladder wall.
