1. Death and Positive psychology
“Positive death” or “good dying” us proposed to have link with the
good life. Meaning management theory posits that death can have
either a negative or positive effect on us, depending on how we
view it. By embracing death, we can live more authentically.
• Researcher proposes that there are three distinct attitudes
towards death (our death attitude profile) including:
• Neutral death acceptance, when one accepts that death is a part of
life and attempts to live life to the fullest;
• Approach acceptance, when one accept that there is an afterlife
that will be pleasure able; and
• Escape acceptance, which perceives death as the preferable option
to a miserable life.
2. Terror Management Theory
Another theory linked to realization of death is
terror management theory (TMT).this theory
suggests there is an innate, biological need to
survive and deals with the management of the
evolutionary cognitive realization of inevitable
death. The morality salience hypothesis suggests
that when people are reminded of the inevitable
of death, their world view strengthens and they
seek to conform to the accepted beliefs and
behaviors of their culture.
3. Integrated hedonic eudamonic
wellbeing
We know that those who follow their
eudamonic pursuits score highly on
satisfaction with life tools. However, increased
score on positive effect were strongly
correlated with hedonic measures as were
drive fulfillment and being relaxed and away
from problems eudemonic measures tend to
correlate much better with growth,
development, challenges and efforts.
