7 reasons people hate their job
1. We have asked our personal list and found out the top
7 reasons they are not happy with where they are in the
company they are with.
2. No. 7
Favoritism:
Yes even though you may have
the same skills and abilities and
do all the same work as the next
guy. There are still some places
that play Favorites. Usually it is
because there is a relationship
between the people outside of
work. (friends of friends)
3. No. 6
Failure to Inform
Employees of their
progress:
Failure in keeping people informed adds
to the feelings of the never ending race.
If to tell someone what you expect and
when the expectation will be fulfilled then
they have a goal.
Keep them informed on how close they
are to achievement of that goal.
When you know what your goal is… the
mindset of completed task will be a more
positive one and your employee will feel
more appreciated and understanding that
they are part of the solution not the
ONLY solution.
4. No. 5
Failure to ask
Employees their
opinion:
If you don’t ask then you won’t know
there is trouble ahead.
Get the thoughts on what other people
think on the matter.
If a project isn’t going in the direction you
were expecting, then get feed back.
If you don’t know something is broken
then you can’t fix it.
And keep an open mind, not all negative
feed back is a personal attack.
Sometimes you don’t know what you
don’t know, and getting a view from
someone below you may give you the
insight that is needed to take that project
to a bigger level.
If you are a good employer, you will check
in with your employees on every level.
Even the Janitor!
Because, it is usually the people on the
bottom that will see the biggest
differences and point you to more
efficient things.
See it from their perspective may just save
everyone a TON of money in the long run.
5. No. 4
Criticizing employees in front of
other people:
If an employer really wants to push the
envelope. This one will do it.
Personally , I have had this happen to me.
With a fist in my face because my
employer had a personal problem that
had nothing to do with me. He got in my
face and told me “I am the boss and you
will do what I F&%$ing say!”
I replied, “ Now you’re also the
employee…do it yourself.” and walked off
the job.
Respect is a two way street. It will be
given freely when you accept it freely.
He later called me to get me to come
back, I graciously declined the offer and
asked him to please not contact me again,
and to maybe seek professional help for
his anger issues.
Payment per hr: $10.00
Payment for respect: Priceless
6. No. 3
Failure to
encourage:
If you want to really hurt someone. By
all means don’t encourage them.
Failure to encourage a person is, in
effect, like shooting yourself in the
foot!
If you give encouragement when a
project is hard or a person feels like
things are going to fail, it will help
them to dig deeper within themselves
to give it 100%
Leading by example will also give
employees the boost to keep
encouraging each other!
7. No. 2
Failure to correct
grievances:
The quickest way to lose a good
employee is to ignore an issue.
To some employers they forget
that even something as small as a
simple adjustment to the way
something is done can make all
the difference in the world.
If something is causing repetitive
stress on a persons body, is there a
smarter way to adjust for it?
Something as small as pain from
doing a job that causes excessive
wear and tear can cause so many
problems.
That is where the Opinions count.
Ask what can make it better!
Even something as simple as a
floor mat for an employee who is
standing on concrete in one place
can make a HUGE difference.
8. No. 1
Failure to give
credit for
suggestions:
A person will
die for
recognition
and work
harder when
they get it!
