Hello, everyone. Today, we are going to talk about Rome and the Jews.
After the Roman’s conquest of Israel and Egypt in the last century BC, many Jews lived in Israel, and the others moved to Rome.
The home of the Jewish, Judaea, was dominated by Rome.
Sometimes, the Jews were treated very badly or less badly.
Jews were forbidden to own land and in many places so they couldn’t be farmers and successful farmers.
In 66 A.D, the Zealots revolted. They drove the Roman soldiers out of Jerusalem and took control of the Temple.
The revolt was crushed.
In 73 A.D, one group took over the mountain fortress of Masada.
In 130 A.D, a lot of Jews lived in various cities of Rome.
In 300 A.D, there were a lot of persecutions to the Jews.
Between 1000-1500 A.D, many Jewish people lived in Western Europe.
But all the rulers were Christians. They had power.
Jews often had to live in ghettos, which is a special Jewish section towns.
