COMPANY
PR OFILE
LEADING THE GROWTH...
People and vessels. This is the driving force behind
Jan De Nul Group. Thanks to the skilled employ-
ees and the ultramodern fleet, today Jan De Nul
Group ranks at the top of the international dredging
industry. That is exactly what Jan De Nul Group is
well-known for. With respect to civil engineering, the
Group is one of the largest contractors in Belgium.
Furthermore, Jan De Nul Group has a separate
environmental division, Envisan, which specializes in
soil remediation and groundwater redevelopment.
Thanks to these three pillars and the range of sup-
porting services, Jan De Nul Group is able to per-
form large-scale projects to its clients’ satisfaction,
whether this concerns a Palm Island in Dubai, an oil
sludge treatment plant in Romania or the construc-
tion of the new locks for the Panama Canal.
WHERE DOES JAN DE NUL GROUP
EVOLVE FROM...
Today, the company has a strong position primar-
ily thanks to its vision and courage. Courage of the
founder, Jan De Nul, who grew from being a small
contractor into an expanding dredging company.
Also the courage of the next generation, which
gives today the Group an impeccable worldwide
reputation.
Jan De Nul started as a contractor of civil works.
Anticipating the market opportunities which arose,
the family De Nul took on its first dredging work in
1951. Soon after that, the first international dredg-
ing project was secured. The rest is history: over the
ensuing years, Jan De Nul Group developed into a
world leader in the dredging industry.
The Group would never have attained that posi-
tion if it had not had the courage and vision to
continue to invest in new equipment, a new dredg-
ing fleet, new employees and also new activities.
In 1996, Envisan joined the Group as a subsidiary,
having been established in 1992 and specializing in
soil remediation and groundwater redevelopment.
Together with the dredging and civil activities, it
turned Jan De Nul Group into an all-round compa-
ny. In brief, Jan De Nul Group is a company which is
ready for the future.
INVESTMENTS IN
AN ULTRAMODERN FLEET
The dredging fleet of Jan De Nul Group is the
world’s most modern and most diverse fleet, this
being the result of a resolute investment policy in
its own equipment. The new vessels with their ad-
vanced technology on board are designed by the
Group’s ’in-house’ engineering departments. Fur-
thermore, Jan De Nul Group directly manufactures
and supplies the dredging equipment to the ship-
yard, which is unequalled in the dredging sector.
The fleet includes a number of the most powerful
self-propelled cutter suction dredgers and larg-
est trailing suction hopper dredgers in the world.
Jan  De Nul Group is the proud owner of several
record breaking vessels including: the ‘J.F.J. De Nul’,
the world’s most powerful cutter suction dredger,
the identical ‘Cristóbal Colón’ and ‘Leiv Eiriksson’,
the world’s largest trailing suction hopper dredgers
with a hopper capacity of 46,000 m³ and capable
of dredging to a depth of 155 m and the ‘Simon
Stevin’, the world’s largest rock dumping vessel.
QUALITY, HEALTH, SAFETY AND
ENVIRONMENT TAKE PRIORITY
As an ambitious company of worldwide fame, Jan
De Nul Group is aware of the fact that it owes its
market leader position to the quality of its service,
the efforts made to enhance the safety culture while
performing, the respect for environmental values
and the motivation of its employees. In order to
motivate and keep safe its personnel, health and
safety are given absolute priority within the Group.
Permanently striving for reducing environmental
impacts of the delivered works the Group invests in
and searches for new techniques, new methods and
new products.
Those persevering efforts within Jan De Nul Group
are supported by several certified management
systems: ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001.
It goes without saying that Jan De Nul Group
together with the quality, safety and environmental
objectives, aims for a total client satisfaction when
carrying out all of its many and different range of
projects.

WHAT DOES JAN DE NUL GROUP STAND FOR...
Dredging around the world
For more than 60 years, Jan De Nul Group has executed international
dredging and reclamation projects from start to finish: capital dredging
and maintenance works in ports, deepening of channels, beach replen-
ishment, dredging rock or sand banks in open sea conditions. Supporting
land reclamation works the company has extensive experience in design
and construction of rock revetments.
The company has completed many prestigious projects of worldwide
fame and is ready to work with clients to deliver future international mega
dredging and reclamation projects (including design phase). Jan De Nul
Group owes its position as a world leader directly to its technical exper-
tise and extensive modern equipment. As a result of investing in its own
people, facilities, machinery and vessels, today the Group has the world’s
most modern dredging fleet at its disposal with its engineers continuing
to search for new opportunities and solutions.

OFFSHOREWORKS
Offshore services for the oil, gas and renewable industries
Specialised services for the offshore oil and gas industries are a key part
of the services provided by Jan De Nul Group. These works include,
among others, the dredging of shore approaches for offshore pipelines
together with onshore civil works including the installation of cofferdams,
tunnels and pipe pulling. Away from the shallow water dredging required
for landfalls the large hopper dredgers in the fleet have been used to
pre-trench and profile the seabed ready for pipeline installation and to
excavate ‘Glory Holes’ in hard clays for wellhead protection at more than
120 m depth.
Jan De Nul Group is capable of placing 31,500 tonnes of rock in one load
over pipelines, cables and for scour protect around offshore structures for
the installation of cables and umbilicals.
Using the Jan De Nul fleet together with the shared ownership of heavy
lift vessels, offshore services have been provided to the renewable energy
industry including the design and installation of wind farm jackets & grav-
ity base foundations, the ballasting and scour protection for gravity base
foundations for offshore windmills, and the installation of inter array and
export cables.

CIVILWORKS
Constructing the world of tomorrow
Civil works, this is how it all started for Jan De Nul Group and today,
completing complex civil works is still an important part of the Group’s
activities. That is why Jan De Nul Group is structured to offer clients a
complete package from inception to completion, both domestic and
worldwide. All key activities, from design to execution, are carried out
by the engineers and the equipment of the Group, whether it concerns
buildings, wastewater treatment plants, sewerage or pipe works, quay
walls, tunnels, bridges, roads, locks or gravity based foundations for off-
shore wind turbines. This approach, combined with the technical know-
how and many years of experience, ensures that Jan De Nul Group still
ranks at the top of civil works in Belgium. Moreover, the company is an
important player in the market of large public-private cooperation pro-
jects. This has resulted amongst other projects, in the construction of the
wastewater treatment plant of Brussels North (the largest in Europe), the
airport terminal in Zaventem and the new locks for the Panama Canal.

ENVIRONMENTALWORKS
Contributing to a cleaner world
Soil and groundwater rehabilitation, remediation of polluted soils and
sediments, environmental dredging and processing of waste and alter-
native raw materials: Envisan has experience in all these fields of envi-
ronmental technology. This is why Jan De Nul Group’s environmental
subsidiary has at its disposal a complete range of remediation methods.
Once again, Jan De Nul Group stands for an integrated approach, from
design to execution, in which the Group makes use of its own equipment
including its own remediation centre. Innovation, research and develop-
ment are crucial for Envisan to be able to offer clients the most creative
and competitive solutions to their problems. Envisan has grown into the
strong partner for complex redevelopment projects and the rehabilita-
tion of contaminated areas, both on a national and international level.

Together with the dredging and civil activities, it turned Jan De Nul Group into an all-round compa- ny. In brief, Jan De Nul Group is a company which is ready for the future.
