Keystone opens showroom in Kigali eases access to customized hotel equipment
1. Keystone opens showroom in Kigali eases access to customized hotel
equipment

With a growing hospitality sector, Rwanda’s business community is a big consumer of kitchenware and food and
beverage handling equipment.
In the past, all these; equipment and expertise alike, have had to be imported, making the process of constructing
modern customized equipment very costly and in many cases close to impossible for many owners of hospitality
facilities.
But as of November 19th
2014, a solution to these long standing challenges to the hospitality industry is in existence,
thanks to the partnership struck between Kenyan based Sheffield and Keystone Showroom to launch what was
termed by stakeholders in food and beverage business as “the marketplace” for kitchenware and hotel equipment.
The showroom which brings materials and expertise closer to customers in Kigali is big news for the mega players
in the relatively nascent Rwandan hospitality sector.
Speaking at the launch, Denis Karera the Chairperson of the Rwanda Hospitality Association and the proprietor of
the Parkview Hotel in the Nyarutarama suburb in Kigali City said,
“Launching this showroom today is big news for Rwandan hotels and other hospitality businesses. The future for the
sector is enormous as the country targets growing its tourist numbers significantly through attracting among others
international gatherings. This implies that we will soon have more facilities opened in Kigali and across various
parts of the country hence need for having all the right services provided locally.”
According to Mr. Karera, the launch of the showroom is timely and sends a clear message to the hospitality industry
that the sector is growing. “Now we need to ensure that our services are superb in order to complement good
equipment with nice services.”
2. The Keystone showroom showcases among others kitchenware, refrigeration equipment and any other hotel
equipment that one may require.
Most interestingly however, is the fact that the new showroom is capable of providing customized solutions to the
hospitality sector’s needs.
According to Suresh Kanotra the Managing Director of Sheffield, before supplying equipment to any hospitality
facility, the company inspects the location, looks at its dimensions to ensure that they customize the equipment to
the facility’s specific needs.
“For instance before someone buys a freezer, we look at the applications and devise solutions fitting for every
kitchen with regards to their dimensions since every buyer and facility thereof are unique.”
Mr. Kanotra also commended the growth that the hospitality sector in Rwanda has experienced in hardly a decade.
“It’s a pleasure to see the hospitality industry growing in Rwanda.”
Sheffield has worked with various hospitality establishments in Rwanda before.
The company is responsible for over 15 modern Rwanda kitchens covering over 70,000 square feet.
With the supply of hotel equipment brought closer, the remaining issue to address is building capacities of their
operators, a challenge that Sheffield together with its partner Keystone Showroom have already thought about and
devised means to address.
“We are also planning to build a training centre where people will be trained on using these modern hotel
machines,” Kanotra added
Sheffield provides a one stop shop solution for setting up and equipping a wide range of food and beverage facilities
including kitchens, restaurants, bars, super markets, and coffee shops.
Keystone Showroom’s unique business proposition combines expertise in engineering, steel fabrication technology,
and a rich knowledge of hospitality processes required to deliver highly customized, excellent as well as cost
effective solutions that combine the world’s leading hospitality equipment product brands with the ideal design and
facility planning.
