Tags are key words or terms used to describe
information, images, videos, posts etc.
They are used to categorize information to help
users understand what the information is about.
Tags ensure information can be easily found
again when browsing or searching.
What are Tags and why do people
use them?
Tags are very useful for research because they
help me find information on a topic.
Tags are useful when I bookmark information
because it helps me organise my research.
Tags are useful to locate information at a later
date.
How will tagging be useful to my
learning?
Keep it simple: use 3 – 4 tags only per piece of
information
Keep it the same: be consistent and avoid using
similar names for the same thing eg “black
death” and “black plague”
Always use lower case letters
Some rules for tagging
Think of a book you have read.
Find a review of this book. Save the review
to Diigo and give it some tags.
Enter a book you have read into Goodreads
and add it to some shelves.
Let’s practice tagging
