This is a choice we all have.
You can seek to blend in with
the crowd or you can stand for
the Lord no matter the cause
and cost.

B. COURAGE
Joshua had the courage to
do what was right as God told
him. Joshua 1:6 & 9

7. A FATHER SHOULD BE...
II. A FATHER OF DEDICATION &
COMMITMENT.
A. Has the heart of loving God.
Joshua had made a
commitment to the Lord that
began in his heart. Joshua 22:4-6

8. A FATHER SHOULD BE...
“A commitment to God and your
family always begins in the
heart!”

9. A FATHER SHOULD BE...
B. Practiced in home
No matter how we act
elsewhere, how we act in our
homes will determine the kind
of men we really are.

10. A FATHER SHOULD BE...
“We must remember that the
influence of our children begins
in the heart and must first show
up and practice at home”

C. Shown to public
We must be careful to obey
and let others see our
commitment. We must never be
ashamed of our Lord.

III. A FATHER OF INSPIRATION
A. Loved & Favored by God
It is inspiring to know that
Joshua was loved and favored
by God.

14. A FATHER SHOULD BE...
Joshua loved the Lord because he
had been loved. How was he loved
by the Lord?
•He was delivered out of Egypt by
the power of God.
•He was kept in the wilderness by
the grace of God.

15. A FATHER SHOULD BE...
•He was shown miracles just like
Moses (crossing into dried up
Jordan river just like in Red Sea )

•He was made by God great
before the Israelites just like
Moses. Joshua 3:7

16. A FATHER SHOULD BE...
•He was victorious over Jericho by
the hand of God. Joshua 6:27
•He was deeply favored by God.

A. Involves Worship
Fathers, we must serve God
in His house, as well as at our
house. We need to bring our
family to church, not drop them
off at church

B. Involves Work
Tilling the ground involves
hard work and great strength
to hold on to a plow.
Luke 9:62 & Revelation 3:16

21. A FATHER SHOULD BE...
CONCLUSION:
Many men think that great men are the ones
who fly jets in combat, the ones who win in
every game, or become champions in the
boxing ring, but the real heroic men are those
who faithfully love his family, help the
children with their homework, and
consistently lead their family in prayer. That is
the kind of fathers we should be, and can be,
if we will recommit our lives to the Lord.
Whenever we are at our homes or outside in
the public, we should serve Him faithfully!

22. A FATHER SHOULD BE...
CONCLUSION:
One of the responsibilities of a father towards
his family, aside from providing their needs, is
to bring each one of his family members into
God’s righteousness… and that is the kind of
father God wants us to be.
