As CTO reporting to the President & CEO, was responsible for the oversight of all technical development and
quality activities, for developing and articulating the technical vision and associated roadmap, and the selection
and growth of design and development staff.
• Collaborated with the CEO in representing the company, by writing technical briefs and presenting to
government, academic, and business forums which increased adoption of LED technology
• Expedited solutions to field technology issues, and managed funded programs such as IRAP, while exploring
and developing licensing and collaborative relationships with companies having complementary technologies
• Learned LED technology, revised Engineering practices to become more focused / accountable, and brought
new patented streetlight to market, which won 2013 and 2014 best in class awards
• Developed collaborative technology development alliances with three leading smart grid companies resulting
in best in class lighting controls
• Produced the world’s first internally controlled smart grid operated streetlight and achieved early sales

As the President and CTO reporting to the Chair of the Cartmill Group, was responsible for determining the
technical roadmap and product development activities which supported the aggressive growth strategy.
• Provided executive leadership resulting in positive and profitable growth
• Interacted with multiple levels and branches of government within the Atlantic Canada to successfully pursue
developmental funding
• Developed a strategy for growth and generated a substantial client list that resulted in generating revenue
growth by 400% in a 2 year period
