This program proposal summarizes a teen advocacy program called Teen Advocacy Works that would serve adolescents in Waterbury, Connecticut. The overall goal is to help teens successfully transition out of high school either into post-secondary education or the workforce. The program would provide a safe environment for teens to receive guidance, counseling, and career/future planning support. It would track participants and evaluate their progress, measuring outcomes like high school graduation rates, college attendance, and job placement. The budget outlines costs for equipment, office space, marketing, and internet access. An information system and regular program/employee evaluations are also discussed.

Works
◦ POPULATION SERVED

as well as transition out of high school. Whether that be

3. Factors that Affect the Population
◦ Political
In this political climate, luckily CT, a
predominantly democratic state, tends
to fund human service programs.
◦ Social
Students in these communities often
see their own friends not graduate high
school, setting an example that leads
them to do the same.
◦ Economic
A large group of this population are
from lower income or poverty-stricken
families.
◦ Technological
Many in this area are without the
necessary technology and/or internet
access that they need to do homework,
study or apply for jobs or colleges.
4. Culture & Diversity
◦ Our program will aim to be inclusive and
accepting of all individuals. We will accept those
from any ethnicity, demographic, gender or
sexual identity.
◦ Culture and diversity will impact the program in
that we will see all different walks of life and
will not be specific to just one demographic of
people.
◦ As this community is greatly made up of all
kinds of different cultures, we will need to be
culturally sensitive to this information.
7. Information System
◦ Housekeeping Information System
◦ With this system we will be able track and document students/clients:
◦ Personal information
◦ Demographics
◦ Goals/objectives
◦ Services
8. Program Evaluation
◦ Evaluating the Program
Monthly we will evaluate data to be sure that
services being provided are documented. We
will also be sure to evaluate strengths and
weaknesses of the program to make any
necessary changes
◦ Outcome Measures
For our program we will measure of the
students/clients coming in stats on who have
graduated high school, entered college/university,
or who have entered the job force
◦ Evaluating the Employees
Much like in evaluating the program, we will
evaluate employees, to be sure they are collecting
the correct data
9. In Closing
• This program will aim to help those at the high school level with many of their potential needs.
By providing counseling, both with academic and career counseling as well as on a personal level,
we will seek to help these students be their best selves. Whether they choose to pursue to further
their education, we can help them find the right school and help them apply; enter the job force,
we can help them look for and apply to jobs; and lastly if they just need help to get to the finish
line, we will provider tutoring services for them as well.
