(2012) and finished in 4th placeout of a fleet of mixed ages
rangingfrom 14 to mid-60s. Thefleet consisted of 30-32
lasers racing once a week for the month of July.
oBVI (British Virgin Isles) Hobie regatta (Bitter End Yacht Club)
First time racing a Hobie in my life. The fleet consisted of 9
other boats. By the end of the regatta I accumulated 4
bullets and a DFL, I had to leave early to catch my ferry back
to where I was staying. Won thanksto a throw out.
oFreshmen Ice BreakersRegatta (2015)
Race was conducted in FJ’s and located on the University of
Notre Damecampus. Notable schools at competition: Notre
Dame, University of Michigan, Ohio State University,
Michigan State University, HopeCollege, Western Michigan
2. University, etc. I raced as a skipper for the University of
Michigan and won my division and proclaimed third overall
for the regatta while our school was declared the overall
winner.
BigBoatRegattas
oCompeted at the Kennedy Cup for University of Michigan (2015)
The Kennedy Cup ishosted at the US Naval Academy in
Annapolis. Iplayed the role of jib trimmer. Wedid not
perform wellat this race dueto new team. We finished
second to last ahead of United States Coast Guard. Theboats
we raced in were Navy 44sand the regatta was two days.
oCompeted in the Harbor SpringsU Gotta Regatta event. (3 years)
(2015) Iskippered theJ/105 CreativeDestruction for this
regatta and won fifth in our division. My ranged from 12
year olds to 16 year olds. No oneover the age of 18 crewed
and we competed well with other more seasoned sailors.
(2014) Iplayed the roleas tactician and bow on the J/105
Creative Destruction. Finished 2nd in our fleet.
(2013) Icrewed as bowman on the J/105 Creative
Destruction. Wewon our division and ended up winningthe
entire regatta (consisting of 84 vesselsranging from Melges
24’sto GL 70s)
(2012) Icompeted on an Alerion 33 as Jib Trimmer and
finished 1st in the Jib and Main fleet.
(2011) Icompeted on the J/105 ExitStrategy as a bowman.
Wefinished 2nd in our fleet.
oCompeted in the Intercollegiate Offshore Regatta in New York (2
years),
(2013) Blew outaMainsail and retired from the event. The
school I wasassigned to: BucknellUniversity. They also
elected me as Mainsail Trimmer and Tactician.
(2012) Iwasconscripted to the Drexel sailing team and
elected as Main Trimmer and Tactician. The regatta
consisted of 2 daysbuoy racing on long island sound
October 14-16. Of the colleges competing, Yale, Navy, Ohio
State, University of Michigan, and WestPoint Academy. We
were granted a donated express37 and raced in the PRHF
fleet consisting of 11 boats. We won our fleet and received
third overall in the event.
3. oCompeted in the BVI springregatta series
(2014) Broughtonto the boat initially as extra help. I was
promoted to tactician and mainsail trimmer. This wasmy
first experience handlingsqualls. Examplesof exceptional
seamanship came when a squall hit 40+knotsand the
boom nearly crash jibed on a down wind. Stopped acrash
jibe and prevented catastrophe. We ended up racingto 2nd
place by the end of the week. This race wason a C&C 41.
oAttended the Chicago match Race Center with DavePerry leading
the 4 day event.
The first three dayswere preparationsin sailing Thomas
28s(high performance matchrace boats). Final day the
CMRC hosted a regatta for 8 Thomas 28s. I was elected as
main trimmer and tactician for our boat. The first race we
placed second. Second race we won and third race we won.
Over the entire event was a priceless learninglesson.
oBeaver Island Race
(2013) Iwasco skipper and tactician for the same J105. We
ended up at the back end of the fleet day one and a bullet on
the second day. Overall wefinished in 5th of the fleet.
(2012) Iskippered/trimmedmain on aj/105. Wegot a
second on the race there (which is a 35 mile race) and got a
1st on the return journey.
oBuoy racesin both harbor springsand Charlevoix
Harbor springs I race generally on the J/105 and havebeen
racing Tuesday night races for fiveyears. Rangeof
experience from doingforedeck on the 105 to skippering
races. I am a versatile racer.
CharlevoixI raced a Beneteau 36.7 on Wednesdaynights.
Would do bow and jib trim.
oChicago to Mackinac
July 11th 2015: Participated in the race for a second year
with the J/105 CreativeDestruction. Result: Third Place.
July 11th, 2014: Participated in the Chicago to Mackinacrace
at age seventeen. I acted as co-helmsmen taking controlof
the 5:00-9:00AM watchfor the J/105 CreativeDestruction
owned by James Carter Williams. Weplaced ninthout of
twenty J/105sand helped our yacht club win the overall
competition between great lake yacht clubs.

I was given the late watches (12 am – 3 am, 6 am – 9 am).
The delivery took 3 daysto complete both motoringand
sailing. Capable of navigatingManitou islands, relatively
knowledgeableof the commercialshipping lanes
o(2013) Deliveryof J/105 from harbor springsto Charlevoix
The delivery took roughly 6 hours; a majority of it was done
via sail. Too much wind had a tendency to cause cavitation.
Capable of both dockingand launching a 105 in moderateto
heavy conditions.

The summer of 2014, assisted/lead two deliveriesfrom
Harbor Springsto Chicago.
First boat: J/105 CreativeDestruction
o July 7th 2014: Startingin Harbor Springs
Michigan, I acted as co-captain of the J/105
Creative Destruction and handled steering,
navigation, and sail choices. The trip lasted
three day over 300 milesof blue water sailing
Second boat: J/105 Sealark
o July 28th 2014: Startingagain in Harbor Springs
I assisted the Sealark boat in their return to
Chicago. We ultimately double handed the
vessel three continuousdays. Firstexperience
in forty knotgale. Seas ranged from four-
fourteen foot waves, seamanship was exemplar.
