Gun Violence
1. Gun Violence
An ongoing and highly debated social problem that continues to grow in our society today is the gun control epidemic. Gun violence in the United
States is a national epidemic. Many people take advantage of guns using and manipulating the tool with hardly any thought. Countless lives have been
lost due to fact that people have been able to obtain firearms legally or illegally and have taken the notion to be judge, jury and executioner in holding
ones live in their hands. This is a common issue that will continue if action is not taken as a nation to try and stop it. Gun violence can lead many
citizens to believe that no place is deemed safe anymore and recent tragedies that have taken place in United States holds up that statement. In...show

You have other cases where school is not a big priority or a big motivator because the school itself may be run down and can only make the most out of
the limited resources the school budget has allowed. In other cases you may have been influenced by peer pressure or friends as this is only option for
a way of life.
The second amendment states that right to keep and bear arms. This law has been etched in the United States history for centuries thus creating the
highly popularized debate whether they should be gun control laws. Members and advocates of the National Rifle Association would argue against
gun control. Their aim is to shift the focus away from guns and their destructive potential but instead have people focus on the criminal and shift the
argument to them being mentally incapable or suggest that there is a lack of security within schools (Henigan 2009). Voices of the NRA do make
valid points, however it prevents them from seeing the bigger picture. We as a society have drifted from the crux of the issue, which is, when put
simply, guns are dangerous. In America, guns are extremely dangerous. Anyone who chooses to Google "gun violence statistics" and find the official
research study done by the National Institute of Justice it would show you that 15 of the 25 worst mass shootings in the last 50 years took place in
America. It also vividly reminds us of how guns are easily obtained. The mass shootings that took place in America over the last

Guns and Violence
School shootings, gang violence, drive by shootings, murder, and thousands of acts of violence are committed every day. Members of our society
criticize their own people for this violence while they continue to sit back and do nothing about it. These acts of violence have many contributing factors
. Violence in our country today is escalating because we don't control the distribution of the guns sold. There are not enoughrestrictions on guns sold
legally. The illegal purchase of guns through the black market is out of control. There is not enough education on the usage and storage of guns.

These guns are sold on what is called the black market to basically anyone. Anyone of any age, with no waiting period, no matter what your criminal
record is, can purchase these guns. The fact that these guns are sold illegally allows guns to fall into the wrong hands. Gang members and murderers
purchase these guns and go onto the streets and kill members of our own families. These problems are trying to be prevented by catching them and
putting them in jail. By this point it is too late, someone?s child or mother has been killed. If the guns were taken out of their hands the crime would
never be committed.
There should be guidelines set to insure the safety of our society before the gun is purchased. There should be a safety test given before the gun
could be purchased. A test to show that the owners know how to properly use the gun. It is a requirement to take a test to show your ability before
you get your drivers license, why not a before you buy a gun? There should also be a class taught teaching the proper storage of a gun. Teaching to
keep the gun in a locked cabinet with the key in separate area. And the three to five day waiting period should remain.
I do agree that there are many legitimate reasons for the purchasing of guns. Some men and women enjoy hunting. This, being a sport they enjoy,
makes such a purchase understandable. Other men and women feel they

3. Essay on Youth and Gun Violence
Youth and Guns
Imagine being able to get your hands on a gun in your community with ease when you were younger. Sounds cool right? Well, to some it might and
that's how young children are living in our communities now–a–days. Kids are able to get guns as long as they have parents with guns or the money to
buy one. There aren't enough restrictions on guns & who can get a hold of them on the streets and parents aren't doing a well enough job of hiding
their guns from their children. Something needs to be done. Too many children and young adults are being injured and murdered by something that is
supposed to protect them. The ease in which youths are able to possess guns needs to be stopped. The harder it is for kids to get guns, the safer...show

Do you own a firearm in your home? Do you have children? If you answered yes to both of those questions, are u confident the gun is out of reach
of your children? A quarter of youths in the U.S. said they have easy access to a firearm in their home. Dalton Taylor, a 10 year old fourth grader was
shot and killed by a 12–gauge shotgun found in his house by him and friends. 82% of firearm suicides are committed by gun owned by a family
member, usually parents. It's not the parents or family members fault that these children committed suicide but if the guns were put away
somewhere safe where only the parent or family member could access it, there's a chance that they might still be here. It's all a ripple effect. If you
don't conceal your firearms right, your child can get ahold of it. If your child gets ahold of the firearm, they could shoot or worse, kill themselves or
someone else. Properly hide your firearms and there will be no gun for your child to shoot or kill anyone.
Studies show some parents underestimate their children's experience handling firearms. That's the biggest mistake a parent can make, especially in this
generations time and day. There are so many ways for a young child to learn about guns; how to use them, where to get them, how much they cost,
pretty much anything. Never underestimate what your child knows about anything. They'll surprise you. They may not know about it because they
wanted to know.

4. Gun Violence Essay
Why is gun violence such a major issue in american and in what way could we help to stop it. It is important to consider that 12,000 people lose their
lives in the U.S. each year due to gun homicides. Another thing is there has been 286 mass shootings in 2017 alone. Some more things to be put to
thought is the school shootings and better ways to prevent them. Another key thing to remember is gun control and how it can be fixed. Firstly is the
statistics on gun violence in America to show what negative impact it has. According to BBC News there 372 mass in American in 2015. To
consider it a mass shooting it has to be a single shooting killing or injuring at least 4 people. Of those mass shootings 475 were killed and 1,870 were
wounded....show more content...
Statistics show that guns are rarely used for self–defense. Not even one percent of victims of gun violence protected themselves with a firearm. 1.4
million guns were stolen from US homes between 2005 to 2010. Gun violence roughly cost every American about $600 and the government five and
a half a million dollars in lost tax revenue. Several billion dollars from the court cases. And several other things costing America a lot and it is safe to
say has a huge effect on our national debt. Now to the side of where gun control is not the answer to gun violence in America.
Gun control does not lower crime but guns do lower crime. When gun ownership increased in the twentieth century murder rate decreased. Taking
away guns does not stop crap, if anything it makes matters worse. Think about it, why would a law of no guns stop a criminal. Robbing a bank is
illegal, why would it stop them now. They will find the guns no matter what they don't give up. What taking away guns all do is leave the people
who abide by the law with nothing to protect themselves with. We do have police to protect you but they will not make it as near as fast to save
you. Over half the people who took a survey by Pew Research said they would not feel safe if the gun laws got stricter. You should have the right to
protect yourself by anyway possible, you should have to listen to dumb law on how you cannot protect yourself. If it is a

5. Essay on Gun Violence
The right as an American to own a firearm has always been apart of our history. However, recent events have put into the question the second
amendment and whether or not it still holds any real purpose in our society. Gun violence has constantly occurred throughout our history and has
always been a problem to end. It wasn't until recent that activists became so passionate about enforcing stricter gun laws or abolishing the second
amendment all together. What would cause such a drastic upheaval? The answer to that is, constant reoccurrence of mass shootings all over the
country, including ones involving young children. Once children started becoming casualties of these horrific events, society really felt obligated to try
and do something...show more content...
This brings up not just one problem but a large and complex amount of problems since there is no one solution for these events. The problem isn't
guns but the people who carry them. "Guns don't kill people, people kill people" is one of those quotes that many gun advocates use in there own
defense, however, the truth is that people use guns for what they were made for, killing. So the blame isn't the guns because that is there purpose,
to end life, the blame is the people. Instead of putting all the blame on guns and the law we need to focus our attention on the people who commit
these crimes and see why they committed them because finding the solution to what caused them to grab a gun and murder is the real solution to
our "gun problem". Gun owners also have a hard time with even the smallest change to the gun laws because of what happened in the 1970s. All
this talk of finding a compromise to minimize these events will always be viewed as skeptical because of Pete Shields. Pete Shields described the
process of how to fully make guns illegal and it started with very small changes to the law. He said that during the process it's not correct to ask to
completely ban firearms all at once, it's going to take time. At first you start with very small changes and then let those changes become the new norm.
Once everyone has become accustomed to the new changes, which takes a few years, you then start by making another

Gun is violence is a very controversial political topic that has been discussed repeatedly over the last couple years. While there are many people
that support loosening gun laws there are also just as many people who are 100% against the idea. David Burnett and Darby Dickerson happen to
be 2 individuals who both have conflicting views on gun laws and what should and should not be allowed in the United States. In this particular
case, the two differ specifically on how gun laws should be treated on college campuses. On one side, there is David Burnett, dean of Texas Tech
University School of Law, who completely supports the idea of concealed carry on college campuses. On the other side David Burnett, the director
of public relations for Students, who is completely against the idea. Both authors do a very good job at not only standing firm in their position but
also providing the evidence to back up their position. Darby Dickerson's supports most of his claims by talking about statistics, tragic events, and
rulings that took place in the judicial system. Right off the bat, in the beginning of his paper he mentions the horrible shooting that took place at
Virginia Tech. What Darby is trying to say is that mass shootings everywhere could be prevented if weapons weren't tolerated inside schools. Darby
also referenced a study that was done by the Department of Education and FBI which basically stated that concealed carry laws have the potential to
dramatically increase

In the African American community, 83 percent of homicides are due to gun violence. In black communities gun violence is commonly misunderstood
as gang affiliation, which is false. Studies show over 50 percent of gun crimes committed were not related to a felony, but were due to some
disagreement. The gun epidemic in predominantly black communities aren't just disagreements, but race wars, police brutality, gang related, and even
no reason at all.
