College Basketball Players Should Be Paid
Along with college football, college basketball, particularly division I basketball, is one of the main sports that many people enjoy watching. During
the month of March division I basketball has a huge men's tournament called March Madness. March Madness brought in $701 million this past season
(Hruby 1). Where does all of that money go if the athletes do not receive any of it? That is an enormous amount of revenue that division I basketball
players alone brought in just for one year. Should division I basketball players receive pay for their "works" on the court? College basketball players are
students and not professional athletes. College basketball players also get scholarships, so why should they get non–educational pay as well ("College
Athletes" 2)? This extra pay seems unfair for other students. However, not only do college basketball players have to focus on their grades and
academics, which is a full–time commitment, but they also have to focus on basketball–another full–time commitment. If the college basketball player
does not perform well in either of these areas they could lose their scholarship money because it can easily be taken away (Cooper 4). Division I
basketball players should be "paid" and treated equal as other students.
While they have people that believe division I basketball players should be paid; there are some people that believe that division one college athlete
should not be paid. Ava Cambio, from Matlacha, Florida, believe that if

How Much Money Do Doctors Make? Essay
HOW MUCH MONEY DO DOCTORS MAKE?
One of the best–paying careers as at present time is Medicine. As one becomes a doctor they are initiated into the world that has consistent pay that
is also very attractive. If you want a life that is comfortable or even more comfortable, being a medical practitioner is a good place to consider. Just
remember passion and brains are the most basic ingredients for success in this field.
There are various types of doctors depending on their specialty and every pay range is different for every kind of doctor.
FACTORS THAT AFFECT THE AMOUNT OF MONEY DOCTORS MAKE.
COMPETITION.
In a place where numerous physicians are present, the amount of money one will make will vary depending on how many patients they see. This is
because the number of patients will be distributed. This is as compared to a place where there is only one physician in the area. This means you will see
all the patients at all times, therefore, increasing your income.
GENDER
It has been established that women in the medical field earn less than their male counterparts in the same field. Some of the reasons that account to this
include maternity leave and working part time.
Taking a maternity leave will affect your pay in a big way because you will not be seeing patients who will, in turn, boost your income. Taking time
off while your male counterparts are working will cause a difference in pay automatically.
Working part time is also something that will greatly affect your income.

Should Men And Women Get Paid Essay
In today's society, the idea of becoming an athletic professional is a great deal. A professional athlete competes individually or as a part of a team in
a variety of sporting events. In the field of professional athletics, the topic of how much men and women get paid seems to be an ongoing concept. This
leads to an unrestricted question, do professional male and female athletes receive the same yearly salary? Some people may argue that men get paid
more than women athletes, while others may think that women get paid more than men of the same athletic profession. This question would be a
suitable research question to consider because it is a topic of curiosity around the world which may reveal a segment of gender inequality.
In order to investigate this research question, one must take steps to search for the answers. To conduct this trial, it would be fitting to generate a
survey. Within the survey, a variety of annual income ranges could be used for the respondent to select. Additionally,

Primarily, a survey is a beneficial tactic because it asks respondents very specific and direct questions. This means that the information being
investigated will be discovered. By this, it also ensures that all respondents are answering the same questions, therefore; resulting in reliable data. In
addition to this, surveys seem to be of low cost since they do not require a lot of materials. Results can also be complied quickly and efficiently due
to technology. If necessary, a survey could allow for a sampling of certain regions or specific sports in order to compare and contrast the salaries that
men and women acquire of equivalent athletic professions. Surveys act as a simple method of capturing the most precise opinions which means that
utilizing surveys could result in high representativeness for the concept being

Essay about Are Pro Athletes Paid Too Much?
Are professional athletes paid too much? Today's sport's world is the biggest revenue making industry in the world. Different sports bring in different
amounts of revenue but they are all enormous amounts. I myself love sports so there are a few sports that I contribute to financially also. Is it fair
that professional athletes get paid millions of dollars to entertain us? It is known that the sporting industry Sporting events is a place for people to go,
relax, have fun, and do something they enjoy doing, watching sports. However, the average family finds it difficult to buy tickets to them and still there
are 66,960 fans that attend an NFL game. (Wikipedia) The public contributes to the athletes' salary and then complains about how...show more content...
If I could pay someone $25 million a year to get him/her on my team and generate $30 million, why not hire that player? The salary cap for the
NFL is $102.5 million per team, and we currently have 32 teams, so we the public are paying 3.28 billion to those teams. Currently America is in a
11 trillion dollar debt, if athletes could get paid $150,000/year then we could save 1 billion dollars a year. The monetary worth of athletes exceeds
the value that any one individual is actually worth. League officials should be using salary caps, negotiations, and legal tactics. Athletes' salaries
are in increasing problem for the economy of our modern world. Although the sports have their own equal distributions, the overwhelming salaries
of the leagues' highest paid players have made the average of salaries higher and higher each year. SPONSORSHIP Companies all over the world
are in bidding wars to get their name at the top. Whether it's on the hood of a car in a NASCAR race or on the jersey of a soccer team, these
companies know the importance of sponsorship. Sponsors come from every corner of the business world and some even make it big if their
sponsored athlete makes it big. A couple of examples are Red Bull (extreme sports) and Golden Casino (boxing) that have come to the forefront thanks
to nameless athletes that make it huge. If a sponsor is going to sponsor a team, they want the superstar to play for that particular team so there is

Should Professional Athletes Be Paid Essay
Do professional athletes need caps on their salaries? This shouldn't even be a question, professional athletes are being paid tons of money just to
play the game they love. The reason why they need salary caps is so teams will have a balance of players. Some teams would just be completely
stacked with great players. Understanding if you are a professional athlete you're good, but there is always good and great. Teams wants the great
athletes, not just the good ones. Also fans want to watch a good game, nobody wants to watch games when they know the team is just going to kill the
other team. Lastly, teams would start to run out of money, and players would demand too much money for their skill sets. Coaches could end up
spending all the money...show more content...
Fans are paying a good amount of money to be there watching the game, and expect it to be a good one. Plus what if you start to run out of money,
because one player is demanding too much money, but you really want to keep them. What do you do? Like the MLB doesn't have any salary
caps, the Yankees were paying Alex Rodriguez 33 million dollars just to play. Compared to the Florida Marlins who only had 37 million in total to
spend. It's crazy how so many teams can pay so much for one person, but others can't do that. In conclusion, these athletes are being paid so much
money, and it's all so they can play they game they love. Honestly, they should be very happy with getting paid at all for playing, but the young
players that come into a game, demand so much money for a great team to get them. Also teams would be very unbalanced, because other teams don't
have all the money in the world to be paying crazy price. Plus nobody wants to watch a ton of blow out games, because the teams are so stacked. All
these reason show that salary caps is saving managers, and keeping fan happy and watching the

Female Athletes Should Be Paid Essay
Female sports don't originate as far back as sports for men and don't strike the biggest interest in fans bigger events, but why are women being paid
less than men in professional competitive sports? Most people think it's fair that female athletes make less than men, but look at it this way. Why
should a team that accomplishes same number of wins and or losses as its male counterparts be paid less?
Basketball being the third most rated sports in views in the United States, has some of the highest paid athletes as well, well for men in this case. Most
women's teams maximum wage is less than the men's minimal wage per game. "Similar forces are at work in professional basketball in the U.S: last
season, the maximum salary for a female player...show more content...
The problem is, their pay is totally unfair" (Ferro 1). Competitive levels are still equal between male and female players, they play the same games
and the same tournaments, and win and lose about the same between the seasons (in exception to the women's soccer team). I mean success is
what really makes a team attractive and the viewers are more likely to watch which brings in more views and more money. "It shows that while
financial inequality among the clubs has increased, competitive balance has remained relatively stable and match attendance appears unrelated to
competitive balance" (Szymanski 1). The pay balance will need to take some work and fight to actually balance and make difference in equality
in male and female sports. It isn't even just confined to professional sports, any job profession in general women tend to be paid less, no matter
what. Drawing an example right here, take Usain St Leo Bolt, OJ, CD is a Jamaican sprinter. Regarded as the fastest human ever timed, he is the
first man to hold both the 100 metres and 200 metres world records since fully automatic time became mandatory. Asafa Powell, CD is a Jamaican
sprinter who specialises in the 100 metres. He held the 100 metres world record between June 2005 and May 2008, with times of 9.77 and 9.74

Students Should Get Paid Essay
"Mom, if you want me to go to school, give me five dollars." This is an example of what might happen if you pay your kids for great grades. If
schools truly wanted kids to succeed, they would teach them better, do new lessons, and not pay students for anything they're supposed to be doing
all ready. Paying children for favorable grades robs their feeling of accomplishment. In addition, they don't take in what they've been taught in class.
Also, money doesn't really help the kids in the long run, if you're not teaching them about it. Paying students for superb grades is a poor idea, as a
result they only do their work for the money, and they want the money so badly, they lose the love. To begin with, students should not be paid for
exceptional grades, as a result it robs their feeling of accomplishment. According to "Parents paying their children money for excellent grades is a
horrible idea", by Gisler and Eberts, " Many parents don't realize that giving money to children for grades robs their feeling of accomplishment." This
means, giving children money they only do their work if they're getting paid, and they don't learn as much. The effect of this is that they don't get that

Essay On Paid Parental Leave
Take a moment to think about this: you and your significant other just took the step to become parents. Though you are young, you both believed it
was time and went ahead and brought a baby into your lives. Staring at your baby and your spouse with loving eyes, you do not think life can get any
better. However blissful life may seem, things soon come crashing down. You and your significant other work average wage jobs and are having a
hard–enough time supporting each other, and now the cost of diapers, clothes, furniture, formula and baby food are creeping in on you and sucking
the life out of your bank account. You want to spend time with your new bundle of joy, but suddenly, your baby is being ripped out of your hands and

Research from Israel shows that when more time is given off to new fathers, the more their brain changes to better suit them to be a parent
(Thompson). Being around the new child and caring for them allows the father to share responsibilities that a baby brings along. Having time to
dedicate solely to the child gives the father the ability to bond with their baby. A study by two Columbia University professors discovered that fathers
who are given time off (two or more weeks) are more involved with their child's lives in nine months, proving that better parental relationships come
from paid paternity leave ("Columbia News"). Paternity leave also creates a foundation of trust between father and child, and relieves the pressure put
on mothers. When fathers are around immediately after the baby is born, mothers are not forced to do all the work around the house while caring for a
newborn. The two–week (or more) time frame when fathers are around would allow for a period where both parents can get settled and adapt to
taking care of the child. In Sweden, to qualify for government benefits, the father is required to take off two months from work before the child
becomes eight years old. More research has proven that for every month that fathers took leave to take care of their child, the income of mothers
increased about 7% (Johansson, Elly–Ann). Thus, paternity leave not only benefits the newborn child, but also mothers. This paid leave can give new
parents the ability to get to know their child and adapt to the new responsibilities. There are a multitude of countries that provide paid paternity leave,
and the United States is one of nine counties who does not have this option. There is no reason that fathers should not have an allotted time to spend at
home with their child and spouse, and so this country should mandate the option of giving paid paternity

College Athletes Should Be Paid Essay
College athletics is a billion dollar industry and has been for a long time. Due to the increasing ratings of college athletics, this figure will continue
to rise. It's simple: bigger, faster, stronger athletes will generate more money. College Universities generate so much revenue during the year that it is
only fair to the players that they get a cut. College athletes should get paid based on the university's revenue, apparel sales, and lack of spending
money. I believe that college sports should be considered a profession. Athletes deserve to be paid for their work. College athletics are a critical part of
America's culture and economy. At the present time, student–athletes are considered amateurs. College is a stepping–stone to...show more content...
I believe that an education should come first when attending college. But, going to school for free compared to how much money athletes generate,
is not even in the same category. According to Thomas E. Way II, a staff reporter from the Xavier Herald, "The University of Michigan grosses over
$20 million from football alone" (Way II 3). This includes merchandise sold, ticket sales, and concessions. Now do you think any of these Michigan
athletes receive any cut for all this considerable amount of money made? Nope. Instead of putting the money in the athlete's hand, the majority of it
goes to the coaches. In the past, Florida Gators coach, Steve Spurrier, signed a six–year contract for over $2.5 million a year, not including benefits.
Also, the Iowa State basketball coach earned $1.1 million a year (Espn.com). A scholarship–athlete can't receive $200 a month but his coach can get
$2.5 million a year. Who is the one playing the game, the coach or the athlete? Without the players, coaches would not get paid as much as they do.
Nobody goes to the college game to see the coach in action, they go to see the players. The players determine how good the coach is anyway. How
well they play reflects the ability of the coach. In the NCAA the coach has complete control over the athlete due to the one–year grant–in–aid contract.

Should Housewives Get Paid?
Should Housewives Get Paid? Housewives is one the hardest and difficult jobs in the world. Staying at home mothers work every day; they work
more hours than the working people. They have so many chores to do like cleaning, cooking, and many other hard chores. The work that they do is
magnificent and remarkable. Other people will argue that is not necessary to give money to housewives because it is their reasonability for taking
care of their children and the house. However, housewives should get paid because they are doing a hard job and they deserve it. One main reason
for this argument is housewives deserve to be paid because of all the hard work that they do. Stay at home mothers work from the morning until late at
night. The article "Should stay–at–home moms receive a salary?"(2013) the author claims that housewives should receive salary because they are
hardworking people. Housewives do not have personal leisure time because the house needs to be cleaned, meals have to be cooked, and this all leaves
the mother no time for her own personal space. Teachers who teach children for 7 hours are getting paid; nannies that take care of the children for
limited time are getting paid, maids who...show more content...
Rao (2013) writes in his article "Should housewives be paid salaries?" that staying at home mothers must not receive salary because the
responsibility of the chores that they do is private. It may be true that housewives must not get paid for their services. However, people should
realize that housewives are doing a job, personal or not there is labor involved. Likewise, it is important to remember that housewives are working
every day, and every hour without any breaks that they can relax. Housewives can help their family if they get paid or put their money into insurance,

How To Get Paid In Full Essay
When writing about fake friends, I feel most self–help sites and advice is written from an angry and bitter mindset. I feel that's counter–productive
when you are trying to help someone better his or her life. After watching "Paid in Full" for the 10th time on Netflix, it got me to thinking. In the
film, Rico kills his friend Mitch over hate and jealousy. Even though Mitch was shocked that Rico pulled a gun out on him, their friend Ace already
saw Rico's true character. He just became oblivious to it. Often times we are just that in life, oblivious. So in this post, I'm going to touch on spotting a

could in return have linked Ace to the murder. Rico craved attention, so much, he wanted people to know about the women he had and how much
money he made. Biblically, Matthew 7:16 states that "you will recognize them by their fruits....". In a nutshell, you will know a person by the things
they produce and do in their life. If they are constantly producing negativity and cultivating drama then they aren't good for you. If all they show you
about them are tangible things, reconsider. If they are more about helping self than helping others, reconsider. If their life is more focused of on what
others think, reconsider again. Be careful because all fruits people broadcast aren't good fruits. Lastly, I'm sure a sheep knows the wolf smells

the wolf because it see's the wolf walking in harmony

My first opinion is that you are preparing them to become young men while being able to handle big responsibilities. With playing sports and being

In trying to decide what research topic I wanted to use, I took many ideas into thought. I decided that the one idea that interests me most is whether
student athletes should be paid or not. This is very intriguing to me since my master's program is sports management. In order to do this research
there must be many ways to use research as well as ideas from other people. This project is a very big topic in today's discussion amongst sport fans,
college administrators, and student athletes themselves. Media has recently put more pressure on this topic as well with the Northwestern decision to

Each university associated with the NCAA differ in size and budgeting. Some schools would have no problem paying each student athlete at their
school only because of their profits from their ultimate money sports such a football and basketball, while other schools struggle now to even field
enough teams to remain an NCAA school. This is why I find it intriguing to see where each school lies on how this situation could affect them.
Athletes being paid could also affect high school and pro sports as well which interests me more to research this topic. High school athletics could
improve by students pushing harder at the high school level to reach the college level because of pay, while pro sports could have many different
affects such as students not leaving school early because of pay at the college level now. After extensive study on different types of worldview, I
realized that transformative worldview would be the best view to bring to the study. ( ) One of the ideas provided in our text book stated that research
"needs to be intertwined with politics and a political change agenda to confront social oppression at whatever level it occurs." (9)This statement is a
direct viewpoint that could be brought from the research on the topic. Politics have changed college athletics and have a very big influence on what
happens in each sport. One of the implications that became a realization is empowerment because college athletes could

Women Should Be Paid Essay
Should Women Professional Athletes Be Paid The Same As Men Professional Athletes? There as been equality in professional sports for a long time.
The men are getting paid way more than the women athletes. Some would say that the men should be paid more because watching men is exciting,
and women's sports aren't fun to watch. Also, because in some sports the men generate more attendance or revenue. Women have started to generate a
bigger audience and more revenue in some sports. Women are doing the same thing as men. They work just as hard and maybe harder because they
are trying to prove a point to everyone. Women don't get enough credit for what they do, it is always about themale population. Gender shouldn't have a
role, the person shouldn't be based on whether they are a female or a male. Women should be paid the same as the men in professional sports. Over
the past few years the difference in pay has started to become equal. Some sports still don't pay the same, but some do. The history of inequality has

Why are athletes so overpaid? They do not need all this money yet every year, they can get paid millions of dollars. A sports athlete is one of the

Should Collegiate Athletes Be Paid? Essay
Should Collegiate Athletes be Paid? Do you think college athletes should receive a salary for playing sports? This topic is very highly debated
within the sports world today. As of right now collegiate athletes do not receive any form of cash into their pockets. These athletes have virtually
no time to obtain a job and receive money that they need. Collegiate athletes should receive payment, participating in athletics is a job, they bring
loads of money into their schools, participating in athletics is time consuming, they must miss a lot of time out of class, athletes do not have the
same competitive drive, a scholarship is not always guaranteed to the athletes. Participating in athletics is essentially a job for college athletes.
These athletes spend countless hours on the practice field, studying film, working out, as well as traveling for games. Robert McCormick who was
an attorney for the National Labor Relations Board said "There are more demands put on these young men than any employee of the university." The
athletes are under complete control by the coaches and must follow what they demand from them. The physical demands that are placed upon the
athletes should also make what they do be considered a job. The athletes must work out and practice to become better players as well as perform well
in games. Those athletes who earn a scholarship can lose them at any point in time. Scholarships are given on a yearly basis so athletes must work to

Students Should Get Paid Essay
Should school pay each and every students for having good grades? Would you study harder if there were cash bonus attached for having good
grades? Should school start giving them rewards starting from elementary through high school? Who wouldn't want to study and get paid? Research
shows that many people argue about whether they should pay the students or not. Most people think that students should be rewarded for doing a
great job. However, some parents are against it because their kids will be influenced and will just do their home works for money. Teachers are
getting bonuses as well. Students should be paid because they will try their hardest to learn and understand, they will become more active in their class
and they will be able to earn money to put in to their savings for the future.
If students get paid every time they make good grades, every students will open their books everyday they will also focus with their assignments and
they will do their best to keep up with their absences to get caught up in their class. In New York, many public schools use incentives for educators to

College Basketball Players Should Be Paid

  • 1. College Basketball Players Should Be Paid Along with college football, college basketball, particularly division I basketball, is one of the main sports that many people enjoy watching. During the month of March division I basketball has a huge men's tournament called March Madness. March Madness brought in $701 million this past season (Hruby 1). Where does all of that money go if the athletes do not receive any of it? That is an enormous amount of revenue that division I basketball players alone brought in just for one year. Should division I basketball players receive pay for their "works" on the court? College basketball players are students and not professional athletes. College basketball players also get scholarships, so why should they get non–educational pay as well ("College Athletes" 2)? This extra pay seems unfair for other students. However, not only do college basketball players have to focus on their grades and academics, which is a full–time commitment, but they also have to focus on basketball–another full–time commitment. If the college basketball player does not perform well in either of these areas they could lose their scholarship money because it can easily be taken away (Cooper 4). Division I basketball players should be "paid" and treated equal as other students. While they have people that believe division I basketball players should be paid; there are some people that believe that division one college athlete should not be paid. Ava Cambio, from Matlacha, Florida, believe that if Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. How Much Money Do Doctors Make? Essay HOW MUCH MONEY DO DOCTORS MAKE? One of the best–paying careers as at present time is Medicine. As one becomes a doctor they are initiated into the world that has consistent pay that is also very attractive. If you want a life that is comfortable or even more comfortable, being a medical practitioner is a good place to consider. Just remember passion and brains are the most basic ingredients for success in this field. This is because the number of patients will be distributed. This is as compared to a place where there is only one physician in the area. This means you will see all the patients at all times, therefore, increasing your income. GENDER It has been established that women in the medical field earn less than their male counterparts in the same field. Some of the reasons that account to this include maternity leave and working part time. Taking a maternity leave will affect your pay in a big way because you will not be seeing patients who will, in turn, boost your income. Taking time off while your male counterparts are working will cause a difference in pay automatically. Working part time is also something that will greatly affect your income. • 3. Should Men And Women Get Paid Essay In today's society, the idea of becoming an athletic professional is a great deal. A professional athlete competes individually or as a part of a team in a variety of sporting events. In the field of professional athletics, the topic of how much men and women get paid seems to be an ongoing concept. This leads to an unrestricted question, do professional male and female athletes receive the same yearly salary? Some people may argue that men get paid more than women athletes, while others may think that women get paid more than men of the same athletic profession. This question would be a suitable research question to consider because it is a topic of curiosity around the world which may reveal a segment of gender inequality. In order to investigate this research question, one must take steps to search for the answers. To conduct this trial, it would be fitting to generate a survey. Within the survey, a variety of annual income ranges could be used for the respondent to select. Additionally, ...show more content... Primarily, a survey is a beneficial tactic because it asks respondents very specific and direct questions. This means that the information being investigated will be discovered. By this, it also ensures that all respondents are answering the same questions, therefore; resulting in reliable data. In addition to this, surveys seem to be of low cost since they do not require a lot of materials. Results can also be complied quickly and efficiently due to technology. If necessary, a survey could allow for a sampling of certain regions or specific sports in order to compare and contrast the salaries that men and women acquire of equivalent athletic professions. Surveys act as a simple method of capturing the most precise opinions which means that utilizing surveys could result in high representativeness for the concept being Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Essay about Are Pro Athletes Paid Too Much? Are professional athletes paid too much? Today's sport's world is the biggest revenue making industry in the world. Different sports bring in different amounts of revenue but they are all enormous amounts. I myself love sports so there are a few sports that I contribute to financially also. Is it fair that professional athletes get paid millions of dollars to entertain us? It is known that the sporting industry Sporting events is a place for people to go, relax, have fun, and do something they enjoy doing, watching sports. However, the average family finds it difficult to buy tickets to them and still there are 66,960 fans that attend an NFL game. (Wikipedia) The public contributes to the athletes' salary and then complains about how...show more content... If I could pay someone $25 million a year to get him/her on my team and generate $30 million, why not hire that player? The salary cap for the NFL is $102.5 million per team, and we currently have 32 teams, so we the public are paying 3.28 billion to those teams. Currently America is in a 11 trillion dollar debt, if athletes could get paid $150,000/year then we could save 1 billion dollars a year. The monetary worth of athletes exceeds the value that any one individual is actually worth. League officials should be using salary caps, negotiations, and legal tactics. Athletes' salaries are in increasing problem for the economy of our modern world. Although the sports have their own equal distributions, the overwhelming salaries of the leagues' highest paid players have made the average of salaries higher and higher each year. SPONSORSHIP Companies all over the world are in bidding wars to get their name at the top. Whether it's on the hood of a car in a NASCAR race or on the jersey of a soccer team, these companies know the importance of sponsorship. Sponsors come from every corner of the business world and some even make it big if their sponsored athlete makes it big. A couple of examples are Red Bull (extreme sports) and Golden Casino (boxing) that have come to the forefront thanks to nameless athletes that make it huge. If a sponsor is going to sponsor a team, they want the superstar to play for that particular team so there is Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Should Professional Athletes Be Paid Essay Do professional athletes need caps on their salaries? This shouldn't even be a question, professional athletes are being paid tons of money just to play the game they love. The reason why they need salary caps is so teams will have a balance of players. Some teams would just be completely stacked with great players. Understanding if you are a professional athlete you're good, but there is always good and great. Teams wants the great athletes, not just the good ones. Also fans want to watch a good game, nobody wants to watch games when they know the team is just going to kill the other team. Lastly, teams would start to run out of money, and players would demand too much money for their skill sets. Coaches could end up spending all the money...show more content... Fans are paying a good amount of money to be there watching the game, and expect it to be a good one. Plus what if you start to run out of money, because one player is demanding too much money, but you really want to keep them. What do you do? Like the MLB doesn't have any salary caps, the Yankees were paying Alex Rodriguez 33 million dollars just to play. Compared to the Florida Marlins who only had 37 million in total to spend. It's crazy how so many teams can pay so much for one person, but others can't do that. In conclusion, these athletes are being paid so much money, and it's all so they can play they game they love. Honestly, they should be very happy with getting paid at all for playing, but the young players that come into a game, demand so much money for a great team to get them. Also teams would be very unbalanced, because other teams don't have all the money in the world to be paying crazy price. Plus nobody wants to watch a ton of blow out games, because the teams are so stacked. All these reason show that salary caps is saving managers, and keeping fan happy and watching the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Female Athletes Should Be Paid Essay Female sports don't originate as far back as sports for men and don't strike the biggest interest in fans bigger events, but why are women being paid less than men in professional competitive sports? Most people think it's fair that female athletes make less than men, but look at it this way. Why should a team that accomplishes same number of wins and or losses as its male counterparts be paid less? Basketball being the third most rated sports in views in the United States, has some of the highest paid athletes as well, well for men in this case. Most women's teams maximum wage is less than the men's minimal wage per game. "Similar forces are at work in professional basketball in the U.S: last season, the maximum salary for a female player...show more content... The problem is, their pay is totally unfair" (Ferro 1). Competitive levels are still equal between male and female players, they play the same games and the same tournaments, and win and lose about the same between the seasons (in exception to the women's soccer team). I mean success is what really makes a team attractive and the viewers are more likely to watch which brings in more views and more money. "It shows that while financial inequality among the clubs has increased, competitive balance has remained relatively stable and match attendance appears unrelated to competitive balance" (Szymanski 1). The pay balance will need to take some work and fight to actually balance and make difference in equality in male and female sports. It isn't even just confined to professional sports, any job profession in general women tend to be paid less, no matter what. Drawing an example right here, take Usain St Leo Bolt, OJ, CD is a Jamaican sprinter. Regarded as the fastest human ever timed, he is the first man to hold both the 100 metres and 200 metres world records since fully automatic time became mandatory. Asafa Powell, CD is a Jamaican sprinter who specialises in the 100 metres. He held the 100 metres world record between June 2005 and May 2008, with times of 9.77 and 9.74 Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Students Should Get Paid Essay "Mom, if you want me to go to school, give me five dollars." This is an example of what might happen if you pay your kids for great grades. If schools truly wanted kids to succeed, they would teach them better, do new lessons, and not pay students for anything they're supposed to be doing all ready. Paying children for favorable grades robs their feeling of accomplishment. In addition, they don't take in what they've been taught in class. Also, money doesn't really help the kids in the long run, if you're not teaching them about it. Paying students for superb grades is a poor idea, as a result they only do their work for the money, and they want the money so badly, they lose the love. To begin with, students should not be paid for exceptional grades, as a result it robs their feeling of accomplishment. According to "Parents paying their children money for excellent grades is a horrible idea", by Gisler and Eberts, " Many parents don't realize that giving money to children for grades robs their feeling of accomplishment." This means, giving children money they only do their work if they're getting paid, and they don't learn as much. The effect of this is that they don't get that feeling of them doing their work all by themselves with nothing supporting...show more content... It's gone on for a long time in corporate America. I feel that it can be effective incentive as long as you're using it as a teachable moment to tell them about budgeting and saving." The source that supports this quote is, "Praireecothrifter.com– Should Parents Pay for Good Grades?" But undoubtedly this can be denounced because even if teachers do pay kids for acceptable grades, what do they teachers get out of it? Higher test scores? Better grades? The students won't really learn anything. For the reasons above, students should not be paid for acceptable Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Essay On Paid Parental Leave Take a moment to think about this: you and your significant other just took the step to become parents. Though you are young, you both believed it was time and went ahead and brought a baby into your lives. Staring at your baby and your spouse with loving eyes, you do not think life can get any better. However blissful life may seem, things soon come crashing down. You and your significant other work average wage jobs and are having a hard–enough time supporting each other, and now the cost of diapers, clothes, furniture, formula and baby food are creeping in on you and sucking the life out of your bank account. You want to spend time with your new bundle of joy, but suddenly, your baby is being ripped out of your hands and being sent to an...show more content... Research from Israel shows that when more time is given off to new fathers, the more their brain changes to better suit them to be a parent (Thompson). Being around the new child and caring for them allows the father to share responsibilities that a baby brings along. Having time to dedicate solely to the child gives the father the ability to bond with their baby. A study by two Columbia University professors discovered that fathers who are given time off (two or more weeks) are more involved with their child's lives in nine months, proving that better parental relationships come from paid paternity leave ("Columbia News"). Paternity leave also creates a foundation of trust between father and child, and relieves the pressure put on mothers. When fathers are around immediately after the baby is born, mothers are not forced to do all the work around the house while caring for a newborn. The two–week (or more) time frame when fathers are around would allow for a period where both parents can get settled and adapt to taking care of the child. In Sweden, to qualify for government benefits, the father is required to take off two months from work before the child becomes eight years old. More research has proven that for every month that fathers took leave to take care of their child, the income of mothers increased about 7% (Johansson, Elly–Ann). Thus, paternity leave not only benefits the newborn child, but also mothers. This paid leave can give new parents the ability to get to know their child and adapt to the new responsibilities. There are a multitude of countries that provide paid paternity leave, and the United States is one of nine counties who does not have this option. There is no reason that fathers should not have an allotted time to spend at home with their child and spouse, and so this country should mandate the option of giving paid paternity Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. College Athletes Should Be Paid Essay College athletics is a billion dollar industry and has been for a long time. Due to the increasing ratings of college athletics, this figure will continue to rise. It's simple: bigger, faster, stronger athletes will generate more money. College Universities generate so much revenue during the year that it is only fair to the players that they get a cut. College athletes should get paid based on the university's revenue, apparel sales, and lack of spending money. I believe that college sports should be considered a profession. Athletes deserve to be paid for their work. College athletics are a critical part of America's culture and economy. At the present time, student–athletes are considered amateurs. College is a stepping–stone to...show more content... I believe that an education should come first when attending college. But, going to school for free compared to how much money athletes generate, is not even in the same category. According to Thomas E. Way II, a staff reporter from the Xavier Herald, "The University of Michigan grosses over $20 million from football alone" (Way II 3). This includes merchandise sold, ticket sales, and concessions. Now do you think any of these Michigan athletes receive any cut for all this considerable amount of money made? Nope. Instead of putting the money in the athlete's hand, the majority of it goes to the coaches. In the past, Florida Gators coach, Steve Spurrier, signed a six–year contract for over $2.5 million a year, not including benefits. Also, the Iowa State basketball coach earned $1.1 million a year (Espn.com). A scholarship–athlete can't receive $200 a month but his coach can get $2.5 million a year. Who is the one playing the game, the coach or the athlete? Without the players, coaches would not get paid as much as they do. Nobody goes to the college game to see the coach in action, they go to see the players. The players determine how good the coach is anyway. How well they play reflects the ability of the coach. In the NCAA the coach has complete control over the athlete due to the one–year grant–in–aid contract. • 10. Should Housewives Get Paid? Should Housewives Get Paid? Housewives is one the hardest and difficult jobs in the world. Staying at home mothers work every day; they work more hours than the working people. They have so many chores to do like cleaning, cooking, and many other hard chores. The work that they do is magnificent and remarkable. Other people will argue that is not necessary to give money to housewives because it is their reasonability for taking care of their children and the house. However, housewives should get paid because they are doing a hard job and they deserve it. One main reason for this argument is housewives deserve to be paid because of all the hard work that they do. Stay at home mothers work from the morning until late at night. The article "Should stay–at–home moms receive a salary?"(2013) the author claims that housewives should receive salary because they are hardworking people. Housewives do not have personal leisure time because the house needs to be cleaned, meals have to be cooked, and this all leaves the mother no time for her own personal space. Teachers who teach children for 7 hours are getting paid; nannies that take care of the children for limited time are getting paid, maids who...show more content... Rao (2013) writes in his article "Should housewives be paid salaries?" that staying at home mothers must not receive salary because the responsibility of the chores that they do is private. It may be true that housewives must not get paid for their services. However, people should realize that housewives are doing a job, personal or not there is labor involved. Likewise, it is important to remember that housewives are working every day, and every hour without any breaks that they can relax. Housewives can help their family if they get paid or put their money into insurance, save it for the future and use it if Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Should College Athletes Get Paid Essay Should College Athletes Get Paid The question people are asking is, should college athletes get paid? This is a very popular question that a lot of people are asking. College athletes should be getting paid for playing athletics. The athletes that are playing college have worked hard to get where they're at. The athletes that are playing are still college students and don't have a lot money. The athletes are bringing tons of money to the school. Getting paid will help them take care of their money. The college athletes have worked hard to get where they are at and are not amateurs any more. The NCAA stated that student–athletes will not be paid for their amateurism as student–athletes (Shouts From). Are college athletes really amateurs though? When they were in college they never had time to get a job, because they were spending their time doing either school work or practicing/playing the . Also if the athlete is good enough to make it into professionals they will have to manage more money. Tiffany Patterson stated, "One aspect I find lacking in this topic discussion is the ignoring of the very real fact that a lot of athletes are very financially irresponsible.". The opposing view might say, but they are already getting scholarships. They might be getting scholarships but scholarships don't last. They can only pay for a scholarship so much a year. If they want to get more than just a bachelor's degree in college they are not going to have any money to do that because they were spending it on there sport. Scholarships won't last if you want to do decide to get your bachelors degree college. NCAA rules stipulate that schools may award only one–year scholarships. • 12. How To Get Paid In Full Essay When writing about fake friends, I feel most self–help sites and advice is written from an angry and bitter mindset. I feel that's counter–productive when you are trying to help someone better his or her life. After watching "Paid in Full" for the 10th time on Netflix, it got me to thinking. In the film, Rico kills his friend Mitch over hate and jealousy. Even though Mitch was shocked that Rico pulled a gun out on him, their friend Ace already saw Rico's true character. He just became oblivious to it. Often times we are just that in life, oblivious. So in this post, I'm going to touch on spotting a "wolf in sheep clothing." Wolves aren't interested in following the Sheppard to refuge, they want to eat his sheep. Sheep are naГЇve and wolves...show more content... Don't get a friendship confused with an opportunity. On the other hand, a wolf always reveals who they really are. They eventually get hungry, and decide its time to eat. In the film, Rico cared more about getting back into the drug game than Ace; so he recklessly killed the man who shot him. This could in return have linked Ace to the murder. Rico craved attention, so much, he wanted people to know about the women he had and how much money he made. Biblically, Matthew 7:16 states that "you will recognize them by their fruits....". In a nutshell, you will know a person by the things they produce and do in their life. If they are constantly producing negativity and cultivating drama then they aren't good for you. If all they show you about them are tangible things, reconsider. If they are more about helping self than helping others, reconsider. Or If you don't have children, what about family members) or friends that you are rooting for, do you think they should get paid for their college sports? Well i'm sure you have an idea by now, well let me tell you guys a couple of ideas i have about college athletes getting paid. My first opinion is that you are preparing them to become young men while being able to handle big responsibilities. With playing sports and being able to manage the money while they are at it. It's like a job if we want to relate between the two. For example say one of your family members or friends play basketball, and they are good...show more content... "If college football (legally) paid their athletes it wouldn't last. The recruiting process would be no more. It would result in one dominant conference for each sport and about two handfuls of dominant teams. The smaller schools in smaller markets would not be able to compete with the big universities resulting in loss of programs for many schools." Another example is "College is a provided service by each state. College athletes are not professionals and therefore should not be paid. The purpose of going to college is to get the training so you can use it later. That's what the NCAA provides. Athletes play at the college level and they further use that experience at the professional level where they will be paid. Just like everybody else." Lastly argued "This is easily the biggest dilemma of all and would bring many college Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Should College Athletes Be Paid Essay In trying to decide what research topic I wanted to use, I took many ideas into thought. I decided that the one idea that interests me most is whether student athletes should be paid or not. This is very intriguing to me since my master's program is sports management. In order to do this research there must be many ways to use research as well as ideas from other people. This project is a very big topic in today's discussion amongst sport fans, college administrators, and student athletes themselves. Media has recently put more pressure on this topic as well with the Northwestern decision to unionize as well as pointing out an athletic director gaining an $18,000 supplement for a wrestler at their school winning a national...show more content... Each university associated with the NCAA differ in size and budgeting. Some schools would have no problem paying each student athlete at their school only because of their profits from their ultimate money sports such a football and basketball, while other schools struggle now to even field enough teams to remain an NCAA school. This is why I find it intriguing to see where each school lies on how this situation could affect them. Athletes being paid could also affect high school and pro sports as well which interests me more to research this topic. High school athletics could improve by students pushing harder at the high school level to reach the college level because of pay, while pro sports could have many different affects such as students not leaving school early because of pay at the college level now. After extensive study on different types of worldview, I realized that transformative worldview would be the best view to bring to the study. ( ) One of the ideas provided in our text book stated that research "needs to be intertwined with politics and a political change agenda to confront social oppression at whatever level it occurs." (9)This statement is a direct viewpoint that could be brought from the research on the topic. Politics have changed college athletics and have a very big influence on what happens in each sport. One of the implications that became a realization is empowerment because college athletes could Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Women Should Be Paid Essay Should Women Professional Athletes Be Paid The Same As Men Professional Athletes? There as been equality in professional sports for a long time. The men are getting paid way more than the women athletes. Some would say that the men should be paid more because watching men is exciting, and women's sports aren't fun to watch. Also, because in some sports the men generate more attendance or revenue. Women have started to generate a bigger audience and more revenue in some sports. Women are doing the same thing as men. They work just as hard and maybe harder because they are trying to prove a point to everyone. Women don't get enough credit for what they do, it is always about themale population. Gender shouldn't have a role, the person shouldn't be based on whether they are a female or a male. Women should be paid the same as the men in professional sports. Over the past few years the difference in pay has started to become equal. Some sports still don't pay the same, but some do. The history of inequality has been here since 1973, not one sport rewarded both male and female equally (Perasso). "A total of 83% of sports now reward men and women equal prize money" (Perasso). Progress is being made, but there are still some things...show more content... While, in professional sports, the pay gap is much wider. • 16. Should Athletes Be Paid Essay Playing A children's Game Pays Millions!!! Why are athletes so overpaid? They do not need all this money yet every year, they can get paid millions of dollars. A sports athlete is one of the highest paying jobs in the world, according to Business Insider, an average basketball player gets paid 4.6 million dollars annually. Should athletes really get paid this much for playing a children's game? No one should, people might say that athletes can entertain the world, but a soldier can save the world, yet most go homeless after serving their time and risking their lives. According to Forbes, Lionel Messi makes 53.4 million dollars annually. Imagine how useful that money could have been if it was used for something else. This is why professional athletes salaries are not justified, they teach greed to the younger generation, other jobs are in need...show more content... Athletes salaries have been in the millions for many years, and it is now that we should realize that they shouldn't be getting this much money. Athletes that already get paid millions but want a better contract, and Josh Beckett being a scam is why athletes are shown as greedy people and why kids will learn the same way. Also, jobs are going to be left open, like software engineers, that are very important considering how fast the society is getting technological and advanced. Lastly, the money could be used for things like health care and education, according to treasury.gov, the money could be used for the water districts in Canada. If money was used for the water district then we would have cleaner water used and also heavy rains would be managed better than they are right now. This is why I think we should take action and take a bit of money from athletes salaries, leading the country into the right and better Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Should Collegiate Athletes Be Paid? Essay Should Collegiate Athletes be Paid? Do you think college athletes should receive a salary for playing sports? This topic is very highly debated within the sports world today. As of right now collegiate athletes do not receive any form of cash into their pockets. These athletes have virtually no time to obtain a job and receive money that they need. Collegiate athletes should receive payment, participating in athletics is a job, they bring loads of money into their schools, participating in athletics is time consuming, they must miss a lot of time out of class, athletes do not have the same competitive drive, a scholarship is not always guaranteed to the athletes. Participating in athletics is essentially a job for college athletes. These athletes spend countless hours on the practice field, studying film, working out, as well as traveling for games. Robert McCormick who was an attorney for the National Labor Relations Board said "There are more demands put on these young men than any employee of the university." The athletes are under complete control by the coaches and must follow what they demand from them. The physical demands that are placed upon the athletes should also make what they do be considered a job. The athletes must work out and practice to become better players as well as perform well in games. Those athletes who earn a scholarship can lose them at any point in time. Scholarships are given on a yearly basis so athletes must work to keep their scholarship Get more content on HelpWriting.net
