Year 1, Term 2 (Spring Term)
About this unit
In this second unit children reinforce their previous learning and in addition learn
to count to 20, recognise some 2D shapes, name parts of the body, fruit, toys and
memorise a Hadeeth. It is important that the language and structures from Unit 1
are repeated again and again so that the language is internalised.
New language content:
· Numbers from 10 to 20
· 2D shapes
· Nouns for body parts
· Nouns for fruit
· Nouns for toys
· Hadeeth (About the 99 Names of Allaah)
Expectations
At the end of this unit
Most pupils will: (inshaa-Allaah) count to twenty in sequence; recognise nouns for
body, fruit and toys when they hear them nouns.
Some pupils will not have made so much progress and will: recognise nouns for
body, fruit and toys with the help of visual clues.
Some pupils will have progressed further and will: recall and produce nouns for
body, fruit and toys from memory with accurate pronunciation.

8. Hadeeth
Aboo Hurairah (radiallaahu `anhu) reported that Allaah
Messenger (‫ )ﺻﻠﻰ ﷲ ﻋﻠﻴﻪ ﺳﻠﻢ‬said:
،‫ِ ﱠ ﷲِ ﺗِﺴﻌﺔ ﺗِﺴﻌِﻴﻦ ﺳﻤﭼﺎ‬
، ‫ﻣِﺎﺋﺔ ِﻻ ﺣِﺪ‬
.‫ﻣﻦ ﺣﺼﺎﻫﺎ ﺧﻞ ﻟﺠﻨﺔ‬
“Allaah has ninety-nine Names, one-hundred except for one.
Whoever correctly preserves them and acts in accordance
with them will enter Paradise.”
[Reported by al-Bukhaaree Volume 9, Hadeeth 489]
