• Format and structure of this competition has evolved over the past 12 months, given
extensive consultation, and input received from all of you as well as other CONCACAF
stakeholders
• Key meetings held at multiple roundtables and workshops held at each of our past two
congresses
• Presented to CONCACAF Competitions Committee for review in Aruba
• Since meetings held in April and July during Gold Cup, administration has continued to refine
the competition’s format and economic feasibility
• Approved by CONCACAF Council and now being presented to CONCACAF Presidents
• Initial public announcement schedule for this week / full launch in February 2018

THE CONCACAF
LEAGUE OF NATIONS
• The CONCACAF League of Nations (LEON)
is a new centralized CONCACAF
tournament for National Teams
• Utilizes existing dates in the FIFA
International Match calendar
• All 41 CONCACAF member associations
play in a home and away league format
• LEON will serve as the qualifier to the
CONCACAF Gold Cup and the
Continental Cup1
• The teams’ results in LEON will inform the
newly developed CONCACAF ranking to
determine the seeding for the 2022 FIFA
World Cup Qualifiers

THE CONCACAF
LEAGUE OF NATIONS
• In LEON, the National Teams will play in three
(3) different leagues:
• League A | League B | League C
• Each League will have 4 groups of either 3 or
4 teams
• Each team will play home and away matches
against other teams in their same group
• At the end of the Group play, the four (4) group
winners in League A will advance to Final Four
competition, where a champion will be
crowned for the first time in March of 2020
