2. PRESBYOPIA – It is not a refractive error but a
condition of physiological insufficiency of the lens to
accommodate for near which leads to progressive fall in near
vision.

3. It is generally seen after age of
40years.
In Myop’s ,it can occur in late 40s while
in Hyperop’s , it can be seen in late 30s.

4. CAUSES:
1)Age related changes include;
 Decrease in elasticity of the lens capsule.
 Progressive increase in size and hardness(sclerosis) of lens
substance.
2)Age related decline in ciliary muscle power.

5. SYMPTOMS:
Headache while doing near work

6. Blurring of vision for near

7. Increase in working distance.
 Watering of eye by doing near work.
Intermittent Diplopia

8. SIGNS:
Watering of eye by doing near work.

9. Changes in eye after age of 50 years
Polymegathism

10. Increase in IOP
Cataract

11. Vitreous Haemorrahge
