2. The Client
My chosen client is the MAK museum, an applied arts museum in Vienna. It aims to
explore and express the link in between applied arts, contemporary art, fine art,
design, architecture and other art&design disciplines, valuing both past and future
of art and design
Its visitors and audience is very broad, targeting teenagers/students with
educational talks and events, as well as being a source of information for young
professionals and people specialised in art & design fields.
3. Brief and Specification
My initial brief was to design a product to be sold in the MAK gift shop, that
engages the audience with a specific period or elements in art & design history, to
enrich their experience at MAK, with a smart packaging
After my research, I’ve decided to produce a ‘tunnel book’, that expresses an aspect
of MAK/its collection, targeted at teenagers to young adults aged 16-25. It would
also be cost efficient as the materials needed aren’t too expensive and should be
affordable for the target audience.
4. Initial Ideas
Initial ideas: to communicate the Secession movement
Inspirations: Secession building, MAK interior – pillar structure, Klimt’s works
