3. Linden Tree
“THE TREE OF LOVERS”
Eminescu's Linden Tree is a 500-year-old tree in
Copou Park, Iași, Romania. Mihai Eminescu, our
national poet, wrote some of his best works underneath
this linden tree, rendering it one of Romania's most
important natural monuments and a landmark of Iasi.
8. Lady’S BedStraW
“Sânziană” is the Romanian
name for good fairies, who play
an important part in local folklore.
The word is also used to
designate the Galium verum
flowers (Lady’s bedstraw). Under
the plural form “Sânziene”, the
word designates an annual
festival in the fairies' honor.
People celebrate this holiday
annually, on June 24.
