Drives for other national grids
To make the AM6 drive usable in countries with other power supply systems a manual exchange
has to be made. For this purpose the „Drive 0.55KW 230/400V 50Hz AM6 wo/sensor with switch
box“ (Code no. 11-31-5020) has to be taken out of the parts list and be replaced in the same
quantity by one of the following drives:
Rapid-Rooster drive for MalePan Plus and FXB360 at Augermatic
For the feeding of broiler breeder females and in special cases also males, a fast drive is required.
Therefore the AM5 drive (Code no. 11-03-3752 Drive 0.55KW 230/400V 50Hz AM5-Rapid-
Rooster wo/sensor) is replaced by the new AM6 drive (Code-no. 11-03-3753 Drive 0.55kW 230/
400V 50Hz AM6 Rapid-Rooster wo/sensor w/switch box) in the following parts lists:

Drive AM 6 for the
feeding system Augermatic
In a continously developing market it is important that products are changed to meet modified
requirements. Such an adaptation was made with a new drive for the Augermatic feeding system:
AM6.
The AM6 drive
As the subject of feed supply is very sensible, a change-over to the new technology is supposed
to be carried out gradually. We start with the 3-phase drive with a power of 0.55 kW, a motor
performance of 230/400V and a frequency of 50 Hz:
This drive replaces:
A version with 0.37 kW will no longer be offered.
In the first instance the drive will be offered exclusively for the use in the European Union (EU).
As a second step it will be globally released together will all other versions (e. g. 60Hz, 1-phase).
A separate product information will then be released to inform about the second step.

"Chick jacket" for Tru Pan
Often a so-called "chick cone" is applied for the rearing of turkey hens in order to prevent the
chicks from getting into the feed pan during the first weeks. This helps to considerably reduce
soilings inside the pan as well as feed losses.
Until now, the Tru Pan has been equipped with two half-shells as chick cone, which had to be
installed inside the feed pan (see fig. 1).
With immediate effect, the chick cone is replaced by the new "chick jacket".
Thanks to the assembly from outside, the new chick jacket is much easier to assemble and to
dismantle. Furthermore, the improved forming of the jacket prevents the entry of chicks into the
feed pan in a more effective manner.
The new chick jacket is still delivered with two half-shells per pan and can also be applied for older
feed pans of the "Tru Pan" product line.
The parts lists will be adapted with the publication of this product information.

Feed car for the distribution of chick paper with
feed in broiler houses
Day-old broiler chicks should start eating as soon as they were moved into the house. In order to
make sure that they quickly find their way to the feed, the feed pans are flooded or adjusted to a
very high feed level.
It is also common practice to cover the floor with some additional webs of paper on which feed is
spread. The chicks already eat this feed within the first days of finishing and the paper dissolves
in the litter.
To distribute this paper web in a most efficient way it makes sense to use a special feed car.
With immediate effect such a feed car is available under following code number:

New product line: "Gladiator" feed pan
The new Gladiator feed pan for the feeding of turkeys is now available.
Feeding systems for turkeys have to meet especially high requirements. Compared to other
fattening poultry, turkeys have a heavy body mass of up to more than 25 kg per bird. Furthermore,
turkeys are very curious about their environment. In order to ideally meet the requirements that
result from these facts, we have developed this new rugged feed pan system which allows for an
optimal feeding of the birds.

2. Field of application
• Turkey rearing and finishing
• Ad libitum feeding
• Weight range 0-25kg
3. Features
3.1 Advantages of the Gladiator turkey pan:
• Assembly and disassembly without tools
 Short installation times, easy-to-maintain.
• Stability of tube connection thanks to self-locking snap-on system
 The feed pan can even be used for heavier end finishing turkeys.
• Less cleaning work thanks to open design
 Less expenditure of time during the service period compared to competitive
products. The feed pan gets clean inside even without disassembly.
• Simple adjustment of the feed level with the outer cylinder
 Very low expenditure of time for the feed level adjustment.
• Rotatable feed pan for easy cleaning and manual flooding of the pan
 Thanks to the rotation the cleaning water can better drain off; the pan can be
cleaned from one side.
• Swinging fixation at the tube for the prevention of injuries
 Less injuries stand for a better finishing result.
• In order to be able to use the feed pan for both rearing and finishing, the dish is
exchangeable.
 Feed losses are reduced; less feed consumption.

3.2 Control pan
The Gladiator control pans are - as other control pans too -
equipped with an AFS sensor. However, there is one
difference between the control pans of Gladiator and that of
other feed pans: the Gladiator pan does not have additional
holes or other features for the fixation of the sensor. The
tube adaptor of this feed pan is equipped with sufficient
openings to put the sensor cable through it.
Note: we are currently preparing a supplementary product
information regarding the assembly and the ajustment of the
control pans.
4. Options
4.1 Flooding of the pans
As in the "Tru Pan" product line, it is optionally possible to equally flood all feed pans by means of
a central traction rope (in addition to the manually adjustable feed pans).
4.2 Augermatic tubes
Beside the new feed pans, we have re-de-
signed the Augermatic system for turkeys.
In addition to the well established tube di-
ameter 45 mm and the tube diameter 50.8
mm which is used for Tru Pan, it is now
possible to install a 60 mm thick tube. The
advantage of the larger tube diameter is
the transport of more mass. The larger the
diameter the quicker the filling of the
pans.
4.3 Chick cone
We are currently developing an option for a chick cone similar to that of the Tru Pan. As soon as
this is available you will be informed by means of a supplementary product information.

5. Calculations
As the diameter of the Gladiator feed pan is the same as that of the Tru Pan, it is possible to apply
the same formulas for the calculation:
5.1 Birds/pan:
• 0-2 kg: (125 / finishing end weight) + 20
Example: 2 kg finishing end weight: (125/2) + 20 = 82 turkeys/pan
• 2-7 kg: 95-(5 x finishing end weight)
Example: 7 kg finishing end weight: 95 - (5 x 7) = 60 turkeys/pan
• 7-25 kg: (259 / finishing end weight) + 25
Example: 25 kg finishing end weight: (259 / 25) + 25 = 35 turkeys/pan
5.2 Feed amounts at different feed levels
(test: pans at inactive position; without feed following from the tube; type of feed see density; indicated in g)

Welding of conveyor augers II
In order to optimize our systems we have developed an improved welding process of conveyor
augers (Augermatic & FlexVey). It will be applied with immediate effect and substitutes the
specifications of welding stipulated in product information no. 630 of May 25, 2005.
I. Selection of the welding process
The welding can be carried out by means of the following procedures:
1. Gas metal arc welding
MIG: metal welding with inert gases according to EN ISO 4063: process 131
2. Manual arc welding
Manual welding with electrodes according to EN ISO 4063: process 111
II. Selection of the welding filler metal
1. Gas metal arc welding
Welding wire: SG 2 Ø 0.8 mm
Description according to EN ISO 14341-A: G 42 3 M G3Si1
2. Manual arc welding
Stick electrode 2.5 x 350 [mm]

III. Procedure
Step 1: Cleaning and degreasing of conveyor auger
The ends of the auger must be thoroughly cleaned and degreased before the welding process. For
this purpose it is possible to use for example customary wash dilution.
Step 2: Alignment of the conveyor augers to be welded
Fig. 1
Both ends of the auger must be aligned and fixed to each other as an L or U profile. The fixation
of the augers can be done by means of normal screw clamps. The exact alignment of the conveyor
auger is described in detail under step 3 / point 2.
Step 3: Preparation of the welding seam
In the following the preparation of the welding seam is explained and pictured step by step. The
points 1-5 correspond to those indicated in figure 2.
Fig. 2
The longer the profiles for the alignment, the more accurate the alignment
of the conveyor augers to each other.
)
PI-No. 1136 Page 3
1. In order to prevent damages of the Augermatic tubes due to sharp edges, the ends of the
auger have to be furnished with amply 45° bevels and edges have to be removed before the
alignment (see picture 3).
Fig. 3
2. Both ends of the auger must overlap 30 mm. It is important that they are pushed in front of
each other and do not twist them together (see figure 4).
Fig. 4
3. Join both auger ends with an internal welding seam with a length of 20mm (see picture 5).
Furthermore, the distance of the welding seam to both ends of the auger must be 5 mm (see
figure 6).
Fig. 5: Detail A shows the dimensions of the welding seam
Page 4 PI No. 1136
Fig. 6
4. After the 20 mm welding seam has cooled down, the ends of the auger have to be welded to
the respectively other auger by means of an additional welding seam (see figure 7).
Fig. 7
Explanation of symbols of the welding seam:
x = Material thickness e.g. Augermatic auger 3.85 mm
z = 0.5 x height of the auger e.g. auger 0.5 x 8 = 4 [mm]
(Half the auger height results from step 3 / point 1)
Important: the welding seam has to cool down for approx. 30 seconds after
the welding. An acceleration of the cooling-down process for example by
means of water is not allowed.
Important: when the welder prepares the welding seam he has to start at
point 1 and move the welding device towards point 2. It must be observed
that point 2 is not heated for too long as this spot will soften and conse-
quently break during the operation.
)
)
PI-No. 1136 Page 5
5. After both welding processes are carried out, there is no need for any rework e.g. with an
angle grinder. An edge which might have developed during the welding process does not
disturb the feed transport! If the manual arc-welding procedure was applied, just remove the
dross by tapping.

Optimization and supplementation of
Fluxx 330 product range
1. New locking mechanism
In the course of the product development of feed pans, the locking mechanism of Fluxx 330 was
adapted to that of Fluxx 360. The new locking mechanism will be available for both the corrugated
dish as well as the deep dish.
This new latch allows for an easier handling of the feed pan. Besides the installation, also the
cleaning and disinfection during the service period with open feed pans is much more user-
friendly.
Fig. 1: new locking mechanism of Fluxx 330
Similar to Fluxx 360, four cleaning holes were added
to the corrugated dish. After the cleaning, water can
drain off through these holes (fig. 2). The sizes of the
holes are designed in the way that water and disinfec-
tion solutions can drain off but they are too small for
the feed. Thus, these holes do not cause any feed
losses and furthermore they are positioned out of the
reach of the birds.
Fig. 2: Corrugated dish with four cleaning holes (see arrows)
Should these cleaning holes not be desired, the corrugated dish must be replaced by:
83-07-8595 Pan with latch and pocket without cleaning holes for BP2+Fluxx330
The deep dish is still not equipped with cleaning holes.
As neither the previous grille nor the previous dish of Fluxx 330 is compatible to the new parts, the
old parts lists were replaced by new ones (see chapter 3).

2. Fluxx330 feed pan with shut-off
The Fluxx330 feed pans are now also available with a shut-off which should be used if birds are
moved out ahead of schedule or if the finishing takes place with different stocking rates. Also in
case of "Half House Brooding", where only half of the house surface is provided for the birds at the
beginning of the finishing period, feed pans with shut-off are necessary.

AFS-03 ST (60-40-2919)
is successor of AFS-02 S/ST
With AFS-03 ST Big Dutchman launches a new robust sensor which features an improved
protection against the penetration of moisture.
The capacitive sensor is used as indicator especially for feed pans. Unlike the AFS02, the AFS03
is only available as ST-version, i.e. always with the possibility to adjust the sensitivity (5-12 mm)
and the time delay (5-60 Sec). It is completely interchangeable with the previous AFS-02 sensor.
All current orders with AFS02 will be adated immediately.
Features:
• Protection class IP67
• Rubberized cable inlet at the housing
• For the temperature compensation an integrated temperature sensor readjusts the
sensitivity so that the circuit conditions remain unchanged.
• The Dual-Sensing is a new method for the signal processing in the sensor which prevents
external influences due to high-frequency radiation. This "defense system" considerably
exceeds the specifications of the EMC-guideline.

Completion of Fluxx 360 product range
In order to meet the market requirements we have completed the Fluxx 360 product range (see
also product information no. 845) by a deeper, V-shaped feed dish.
Furthermore, based on experiences in the field, slight improvements on the outer cylinder were
realized. Thanks to these changes it is possible to adjust the feed level in the feed pan in an even
more flexible way.
Deeper, V-shaped feed dish
For the feed pan Fluxx 360, a new deep dish is available:
The V-shaped dish is comparable with the Big Pan dish for Big Pan /Fluxx 330 feed pans.
Compared to the dish with a corrugated bottom, it allows for a larger amount of feed in each feed
pan at the same feed level setting. Thanks to the V-shape of the dish, the pan can sink into the
litter. Thus, the resulting low height of the dish rim enables the birds to easily reach the feed also
during the first days of life.

Optimization of the outer cylinder
Similar to the Fluxx 330 feed pan (see product information no. 911) the fins of the outer cylinder
are shortened (fig. 3, pos. 1).
In order to achieve an optimum feed level with any kind of feed especially for the broiler finishing
in future, we have enlarged the thread at the outer cylinder (fig. 3, pos. 2). Thanks to this
enlargement, three additional feed positions are available now (old: 1-8) / new: 1-11).
Fig. 3: 83-06-9060 Cylinder outer with short fins FXB/Fluxx360
The new outer cylinder is completely compatible with the old one.

Due to the above described improvements at the feed pan, the following pans for broiler finishing
are now released again:
Feed pans with low, corrugated dish:
Control pans:
2. Field of application and features for Fluxx 360 with deep dish:
2.1. Field of application:
• broiler finishing up to 3.5 kg
• duck rearing 2.0 kg
• turkey rearing up to 2.0 kg
• chick rearing
• layers
2.2. Features:
• Thanks to the larger diameter, the following possiblities can be realized:
The ratio of bird and feeding place is lower compared to the same number of smaller feed
pans.
Reduction of number of the feed pans.
Possibly more birds per house depending on house dimensions (please observe legal
general requirements)
• Centrally used 360° flooding mechanism by lowering the line to the floor
ideal start for the chicks during the first days.
• Feed can be adjusted to 11 levels by one hand, no unintended adjustment (spin ’n’ lock tech-
nology).
• An integrated volume reducing insert allows a fast filling of all pans at the Augermatic line
and prevents the feed from remaining in the house for too long.
• The locking mechanism between pan and grille makes it easy to open the feed pan for
cleaning purposes  less work.
• The feed pan is fixed to the tube so that it can swing and rotate. However, it can also be
mounted in a fixed position by installing "11-31-3596 compression spring D-207 J-01 " and
"11-31-3597 holding pin for tube adapter rigidly mounted" in order to prevent the swinging of
the feed pan at the Augermatic tube (please note: for this case a Male Pan conveying pipe
has to be applied).

3.5 Feed quantity at different feed levels:
In the following tables the volume of the Fluxx 360 feed pan with deep dish as well as the pan with
the corrugated bottom is indicated. We distinguish between feed density, feed level and condition
of the feed pan (flooded / non-flooded):
• Fluxx 360 with deep dish, non-flooded:
• Fluxx 360 with deep dish, flooded:
• Fluxx 360 with corrugated bottom, non-flooded:
• Fluxx 360 with corrugated bottom, flooded:
Please note:
In addition to the density of the feed also the processing of the feed (pellets/granule/flour), as well
as the ingredients have a great impact on the flowability. For this reason the indications have to be
understood as support only. The actual quantity of feed can differ from these indications
depending on the feed type.

Oil level control AM5
Leakages at the AM5-drive might be the consequence of unloosened vent plugs (see product
information no. 744) and/or the direct cleaning of the output shaft bearing with a high-pressure
cleaner.
In order to prevent damages it is absolutely necessary to carry out a regular visual check on the
Augermatic drive. This should take place at the end of each batch but every 6 weeks at the latest.
If a leakage is detected during this inspection, the oil level of the Augermatic-drive has to be
checked.
In order to check the oil level please
unscrew the control screw (fig. 1, detail A)
on the gearbox.
If there is oil leakage or if the oil levels
directly at the lower edge of the bore hole
the oil level is correct. Otherwise gear oil
with the specification SAE 85W-90 has to
be refilled until it discharges from the
control bore hole.

Additional fixation of the feed pan TRU PAN to
the tubes 45.0 and 50.8mm for Augermatic
Big Dutchman’s equipment always has to meet the increasing requirements of the world
market. For this reason we have made an adaptation at our feed pan TRU PAN. This
includes the screwing of the tube adapter to the feed outlet in order to cope with the weight
of considerably heavy (≥ 25 kg) and agile turkeys.
The components feed outlet (Fig. 2, point 1) and tube adapter (Fig. 2, point 2) were modified in
such a way that they now offer 4 retainers for the screw connections. Thus, an extremely strong
hold on the tube can be guaranteed. If necessary, this connection can easily be dismantled.

Assembly
The nuts are countersunk into the provided recesses in the feed outlet (Fig 3). Clamps keep them
in position. Then, the tube adapter is pushed onto the feed outlet and in front of the bulge in the
usual way (Fig. 3). This additionally prevents the nuts from falling out. Now, the screws are
inserted in the openings from the top and tightened (Fig. 5).

AFS-02 becomes successor of AFS-01
With the two versions of the AFS-02 Big Dutchman brings a new sensor into the market,
developed for increasing customer demands to detect most types of feed, grain and solids. This
capacitive sensor is typically used as empty, full and level indicator especially for feed pans.
The AFS-02 60sec (60-40-2917) with fixed 60 second delay can be exchanged 1:1 with existing
sensor AFS-01-60sec (91-00-3905). The AFS-01 Series is no longer deliverable. All part lists
have been changed.
New functions:
• Two Versions, both with trimmer for adjustable sensitivity
and the second one with additional adjustable delay time.
• Active temperature compensation is an integrated tempera-
ture sensor, which constantly monitors the influence of the
surroundings and compensates currently so that the sensi-
tivity is kept continuously constant.
• Dual Sensing is a new method for treatment of the signals
in the sensor so that external influences are balanced.
• The Switch Capacitor is a new principle for the feed detec-
tion itself, which makes the sensor extremely immune to
high frequency irradiation. This "defence system" is much
better than required by the EMC directive.
Coding
Status indicator
Both types have a status light emit-
ting diode (LED), which shows the
current status of the sensor. The
LED shows the output status and
not if the sensor is influenced. Sen-
sor defects and active current limit-
er are shown as short flashes.

AFS-02 sensor
In the worst case scenario, the progress in the development of energy-saving electric components
might cause undefined states concerning the control relay used in the Augermatic drive AM5 in
combination with the capacitive sensor AFS-02 (code no. 60-40-2917 and 60-40-2918).
In order to ensure the full operational volume of the Augermatic drives in combination with the
AFS-02 sensor as well as the energy-saving relays (K), we will now install an additional
optimization-set (R) in all Augermatic drives. For this purpose a 110kΩ-resistance will be
connected in parallel to the relay coil in order to increase the electrical load.
This measure is only a workaround which is to be used until the AFS-02 sensors are optimally
modified. As soon as development steps in this regard are finished we will send out an
information, such as a product information, for example.
The following figures show a sketch of the electric circuit diagram including the optimization-set as
well as a picture of the control relay with the fixed load resistance.
The separate optimization-set can also be ordered free of charge under code number 60-41-2920.

Gearbox ventilation
In light of recent events we would like to remind you that the plugs have to be removed from the
ventilation cap before the gear motors are put into operation (see illustration)! This is also
described in every user manual.
This procedure must be applied to all gear motors for feeding, egg collection and manure removal
unless equipped with automatic ventilation.

• 12. No. 1290 July 31, 2012 Drive AM 6 for the feeding system Augermatic In a continously developing market it is important that products are changed to meet modified requirements. Such an adaptation was made with a new drive for the Augermatic feeding system: AM6. The AM6 drive As the subject of feed supply is very sensible, a change-over to the new technology is supposed to be carried out gradually. We start with the 3-phase drive with a power of 0.55 kW, a motor performance of 230/400V and a frequency of 50 Hz: This drive replaces: A version with 0.37 kW will no longer be offered. In the first instance the drive will be offered exclusively for the use in the European Union (EU). As a second step it will be globally released together will all other versions (e. g. 60Hz, 1-phase). A separate product information will then be released to inform about the second step. • 17. No. 1279 June 29, 2012 "Chick jacket" for Tru Pan Often a so-called "chick cone" is applied for the rearing of turkey hens in order to prevent the chicks from getting into the feed pan during the first weeks. This helps to considerably reduce soilings inside the pan as well as feed losses. Until now, the Tru Pan has been equipped with two half-shells as chick cone, which had to be installed inside the feed pan (see fig. 1). With immediate effect, the chick cone is replaced by the new "chick jacket". Thanks to the assembly from outside, the new chick jacket is much easier to assemble and to dismantle. Furthermore, the improved forming of the jacket prevents the entry of chicks into the feed pan in a more effective manner. The new chick jacket is still delivered with two half-shells per pan and can also be applied for older feed pans of the "Tru Pan" product line. The parts lists will be adapted with the publication of this product information. • 18. No. 1224 January 16, 2012 Feed car for the distribution of chick paper with feed in broiler houses Day-old broiler chicks should start eating as soon as they were moved into the house. In order to make sure that they quickly find their way to the feed, the feed pans are flooded or adjusted to a very high feed level. It is also common practice to cover the floor with some additional webs of paper on which feed is spread. The chicks already eat this feed within the first days of finishing and the paper dissolves in the litter. To distribute this paper web in a most efficient way it makes sense to use a special feed car. With immediate effect such a feed car is available under following code number: Fig. 1: Feed car with reception for chick paper Code no. Feeding systems for turkeys have to meet especially high requirements. Compared to other fattening poultry, turkeys have a heavy body mass of up to more than 25 kg per bird. Furthermore, turkeys are very curious about their environment. In order to ideally meet the requirements that result from these facts, we have developed this new rugged feed pan system which allows for an optimal feeding of the birds. • 34. PI-Nr. 1192 Page 3 2. Field of application • Turkey rearing and finishing • Ad libitum feeding • Weight range 0-25kg 3. Features 3.1 Advantages of the Gladiator turkey pan: • Assembly and disassembly without tools  Short installation times, easy-to-maintain. • Stability of tube connection thanks to self-locking snap-on system  The feed pan can even be used for heavier end finishing turkeys. • Less cleaning work thanks to open design  Less expenditure of time during the service period compared to competitive products. The feed pan gets clean inside even without disassembly. • Simple adjustment of the feed level with the outer cylinder  Very low expenditure of time for the feed level adjustment. • Rotatable feed pan for easy cleaning and manual flooding of the pan  Thanks to the rotation the cleaning water can better drain off; the pan can be cleaned from one side. • Swinging fixation at the tube for the prevention of injuries  Less injuries stand for a better finishing result. • In order to be able to use the feed pan for both rearing and finishing, the dish is exchangeable.  Feed losses are reduced; less feed consumption. • 35. Page 4 PI-Nr. 1192 3.2 Control pan The Gladiator control pans are - as other control pans too - equipped with an AFS sensor. However, there is one difference between the control pans of Gladiator and that of other feed pans: the Gladiator pan does not have additional holes or other features for the fixation of the sensor. The tube adaptor of this feed pan is equipped with sufficient openings to put the sensor cable through it. Note: we are currently preparing a supplementary product information regarding the assembly and the ajustment of the control pans. 4. Options 4.1 Flooding of the pans As in the "Tru Pan" product line, it is optionally possible to equally flood all feed pans by means of a central traction rope (in addition to the manually adjustable feed pans). 4.2 Augermatic tubes Beside the new feed pans, we have re-de- signed the Augermatic system for turkeys. In addition to the well established tube di- ameter 45 mm and the tube diameter 50.8 mm which is used for Tru Pan, it is now possible to install a 60 mm thick tube. The advantage of the larger tube diameter is the transport of more mass. The larger the diameter the quicker the filling of the pans. 4.3 Chick cone We are currently developing an option for a chick cone similar to that of the Tru Pan. As soon as this is available you will be informed by means of a supplementary product information. Ø45mm Ø50,8mm Ø60mm
  • 36. PI-Nr. 1192 Page 5 5. Calculations As the diameter of the Gladiator feed pan is the same as that of the Tru Pan, it is possible to apply the same formulas for the calculation: 5.1 Birds/pan: • 0-2 kg: (125 / finishing end weight) + 20 Example: 2 kg finishing end weight: (125/2) + 20 = 82 turkeys/pan • 2-7 kg: 95-(5 x finishing end weight) Example: 7 kg finishing end weight: 95 - (5 x 7) = 60 turkeys/pan • 7-25 kg: (259 / finishing end weight) + 25 Example: 25 kg finishing end weight: (259 / 25) + 25 = 35 turkeys/pan 5.2 Feed amounts at different feed levels (test: pans at inactive position; without feed following from the tube; type of feed see density; indicated in g) 5.3 Calculation of lifting capacity for suspended lines Adjustment of outer cylinder Density [kg/m³] 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 on top flooding mechanism lifted 750 907 993 1032 1121 1196 1275 1386 1693 2886 650 786 860 895 972 1037 1105 1201 1467 2501 550 665 728 757 822 877 935 1016 1241 2116 The indications in the price list deviate from the actual weights! • 44. No. 1136 April 6, 2011 Welding of conveyor augers II In order to optimize our systems we have developed an improved welding process of conveyor augers (Augermatic & FlexVey). It will be applied with immediate effect and substitutes the specifications of welding stipulated in product information no. 630 of May 25, 2005. I. Selection of the welding process The welding can be carried out by means of the following procedures: 1. Gas metal arc welding MIG: metal welding with inert gases according to EN ISO 4063: process 131 2. Manual arc welding Manual welding with electrodes according to EN ISO 4063: process 111 II. • 45. Page 2 PI No. 1136 III. Procedure Step 1: Cleaning and degreasing of conveyor auger The ends of the auger must be thoroughly cleaned and degreased before the welding process. For this purpose it is possible to use for example customary wash dilution. Step 2: Alignment of the conveyor augers to be welded Fig. 1 Both ends of the auger must be aligned and fixed to each other as an L or U profile. The fixation of the augers can be done by means of normal screw clamps. The exact alignment of the conveyor auger is described in detail under step 3 / point 2. Step 3: Preparation of the welding seam In the following the preparation of the welding seam is explained and pictured step by step. The points 1-5 correspond to those indicated in figure 2. Fig. 2 The longer the profiles for the alignment, the more accurate the alignment of the conveyor augers to each other. )
  • 46. PI-No. 1136 Page 3 1. In order to prevent damages of the Augermatic tubes due to sharp edges, the ends of the auger have to be furnished with amply 45° bevels and edges have to be removed before the alignment (see picture 3). Fig. 3 2. Both ends of the auger must overlap 30 mm. It is important that they are pushed in front of each other and do not twist them together (see figure 4). Fig. 4 3. Join both auger ends with an internal welding seam with a length of 20mm (see picture 5). Furthermore, the distance of the welding seam to both ends of the auger must be 5 mm (see figure 6). Fig. 5: Detail A shows the dimensions of the welding seam
  • 47. Page 4 PI No. 1136 Fig. 6 4. After the 20 mm welding seam has cooled down, the ends of the auger have to be welded to the respectively other auger by means of an additional welding seam (see figure 7). Fig. 7 Explanation of symbols of the welding seam: x = Material thickness e.g. Augermatic auger 3.85 mm z = 0.5 x height of the auger e.g. auger 0.5 x 8 = 4 [mm] (Half the auger height results from step 3 / point 1) Important: the welding seam has to cool down for approx. 30 seconds after the welding. An acceleration of the cooling-down process for example by means of water is not allowed. Important: when the welder prepares the welding seam he has to start at point 1 and move the welding device towards point 2. It must be observed that point 2 is not heated for too long as this spot will soften and conse- quently break during the operation. ) )
  • 48. PI-No. 1136 Page 5 5. After both welding processes are carried out, there is no need for any rework e.g. with an angle grinder. An edge which might have developed during the welding process does not disturb the feed transport! If the manual arc-welding procedure was applied, just remove the dross by tapping. • 49. No. 1104 January 26, 2011 Optimization and supplementation of Fluxx 330 product range 1. New locking mechanism In the course of the product development of feed pans, the locking mechanism of Fluxx 330 was adapted to that of Fluxx 360. The new locking mechanism will be available for both the corrugated dish as well as the deep dish. This new latch allows for an easier handling of the feed pan. Besides the installation, also the cleaning and disinfection during the service period with open feed pans is much more user- friendly. Fig. 1: new locking mechanism of Fluxx 330 Similar to Fluxx 360, four cleaning holes were added to the corrugated dish. After the cleaning, water can drain off through these holes (fig. 2). The sizes of the holes are designed in the way that water and disinfec- tion solutions can drain off but they are too small for the feed. Thus, these holes do not cause any feed losses and furthermore they are positioned out of the reach of the birds. Fig. 2: Corrugated dish with four cleaning holes (see arrows) Should these cleaning holes not be desired, the corrugated dish must be replaced by: 83-07-8595 Pan with latch and pocket without cleaning holes for BP2+Fluxx330 The deep dish is still not equipped with cleaning holes. As neither the previous grille nor the previous dish of Fluxx 330 is compatible to the new parts, the old parts lists were replaced by new ones (see chapter 3). • 57. No. 1085 November 25, 2010 AFS-03 ST (60-40-2919) is successor of AFS-02 S/ST With AFS-03 ST Big Dutchman launches a new robust sensor which features an improved protection against the penetration of moisture. The capacitive sensor is used as indicator especially for feed pans. Unlike the AFS02, the AFS03 is only available as ST-version, i.e. always with the possibility to adjust the sensitivity (5-12 mm) and the time delay (5-60 Sec). It is completely interchangeable with the previous AFS-02 sensor. All current orders with AFS02 will be adated immediately. Features: • Protection class IP67 • Rubberized cable inlet at the housing • For the temperature compensation an integrated temperature sensor readjusts the sensitivity so that the circuit conditions remain unchanged. • The Dual-Sensing is a new method for the signal processing in the sensor which prevents external influences due to high-frequency radiation. This "defense system" considerably exceeds the specifications of the EMC-guideline. • 60. No. 1063 September 9, 2010 Completion of Fluxx 360 product range In order to meet the market requirements we have completed the Fluxx 360 product range (see also product information no. 845) by a deeper, V-shaped feed dish. Furthermore, based on experiences in the field, slight improvements on the outer cylinder were realized. Thanks to these changes it is possible to adjust the feed level in the feed pan in an even more flexible way. Deeper, V-shaped feed dish For the feed pan Fluxx 360, a new deep dish is available: The V-shaped dish is comparable with the Big Pan dish for Big Pan /Fluxx 330 feed pans. Compared to the dish with a corrugated bottom, it allows for a larger amount of feed in each feed pan at the same feed level setting. Thanks to the V-shape of the dish, the pan can sink into the litter. Thus, the resulting low height of the dish rim enables the birds to easily reach the feed also during the first days of life. • 62. PI-No. 1063 Page 3 Due to the above described improvements at the feed pan, the following pans for broiler finishing are now released again: Feed pans with low, corrugated dish: Control pans: 2. Field of application and features for Fluxx 360 with deep dish: 2.1. Field of application: • broiler finishing up to 3.5 kg • duck rearing 2.0 kg • turkey rearing up to 2.0 kg • chick rearing • layers 2.2. Features: • Thanks to the larger diameter, the following possiblities can be realized:  The ratio of bird and feeding place is lower compared to the same number of smaller feed pans.  Reduction of number of the feed pans.  Possibly more birds per house depending on house dimensions (please observe legal general requirements) • Centrally used 360° flooding mechanism by lowering the line to the floor  ideal start for the chicks during the first days. • Feed can be adjusted to 11 levels by one hand, no unintended adjustment (spin ’n’ lock tech- nology). • An integrated volume reducing insert allows a fast filling of all pans at the Augermatic line and prevents the feed from remaining in the house for too long. • The locking mechanism between pan and grille makes it easy to open the feed pan for cleaning purposes  less work. • The feed pan is fixed to the tube so that it can swing and rotate. However, it can also be mounted in a fixed position by installing "11-31-3596 compression spring D-207 J-01 " and "11-31-3597 holding pin for tube adapter rigidly mounted" in order to prevent the swinging of the feed pan at the Augermatic tube (please note: for this case a Male Pan conveying pipe has to be applied). • 68. No. 1008 January 27, 2010 Oil level control AM5 Leakages at the AM5-drive might be the consequence of unloosened vent plugs (see product information no. 744) and/or the direct cleaning of the output shaft bearing with a high-pressure cleaner. In order to prevent damages it is absolutely necessary to carry out a regular visual check on the Augermatic drive. This should take place at the end of each batch but every 6 weeks at the latest. If a leakage is detected during this inspection, the oil level of the Augermatic-drive has to be checked. In order to check the oil level please unscrew the control screw (fig. 1, detail A) on the gearbox. If there is oil leakage or if the oil levels directly at the lower edge of the bore hole the oil level is correct. Otherwise gear oil with the specification SAE 85W-90 has to be refilled until it discharges from the control bore hole. • 69. No. 734 October 31, 2006 Additional fixation of the feed pan TRU PAN to the tubes 45.0 and 50.8mm for Augermatic Big Dutchman’s equipment always has to meet the increasing requirements of the world market. For this reason we have made an adaptation at our feed pan TRU PAN. This includes the screwing of the tube adapter to the feed outlet in order to cope with the weight of considerably heavy (≥ 25 kg) and agile turkeys. The components feed outlet (Fig. 2, point 1) and tube adapter (Fig. 2, point 2) were modified in such a way that they now offer 4 retainers for the screw connections. Thus, an extremely strong hold on the tube can be guaranteed. If necessary, this connection can easily be dismantled. Then, the tube adapter is pushed onto the feed outlet and in front of the bulge in the usual way (Fig. 3). This additionally prevents the nuts from falling out. Now, the screws are inserted in the openings from the top and tightened (Fig. 5). Fig. 3 Fig. 4

  • 74. No. 857 July 9, 2008 AFS-02 becomes successor of AFS-01 With the two versions of the AFS-02 Big Dutchman brings a new sensor into the market, developed for increasing customer demands to detect most types of feed, grain and solids. This capacitive sensor is typically used as empty, full and level indicator especially for feed pans. The AFS-02 60sec (60-40-2917) with fixed 60 second delay can be exchanged 1:1 with existing sensor AFS-01-60sec (91-00-3905). The AFS-01 Series is no longer deliverable. All part lists have been changed. New functions: • Two Versions, both with trimmer for adjustable sensitivity and the second one with additional adjustable delay time. • Active temperature compensation is an integrated tempera- ture sensor, which constantly monitors the influence of the surroundings and compensates currently so that the sensi- tivity is kept continuously constant. • Dual Sensing is a new method for treatment of the signals in the sensor so that external influences are balanced. • The Switch Capacitor is a new principle for the feed detec- tion itself, which makes the sensor extremely immune to high frequency irradiation. This "defence system" is much better than required by the EMC directive. Coding Status indicator Both types have a status light emit- ting diode (LED), which shows the current status of the sensor. The LED shows the output status and not if the sensor is influenced. Sen- sor defects and active current limit- er are shown as short flashes. • 76. No. 897 January 15, 2009 AFS-02 sensor In the worst case scenario, the progress in the development of energy-saving electric components might cause undefined states concerning the control relay used in the Augermatic drive AM5 in combination with the capacitive sensor AFS-02 (code no. 60-40-2917 and 60-40-2918). In order to ensure the full operational volume of the Augermatic drives in combination with the AFS-02 sensor as well as the energy-saving relays (K), we will now install an additional optimization-set (R) in all Augermatic drives. For this purpose a 110kΩ-resistance will be connected in parallel to the relay coil in order to increase the electrical load. This measure is only a workaround which is to be used until the AFS-02 sensors are optimally modified. As soon as development steps in this regard are finished we will send out an information, such as a product information, for example. The following figures show a sketch of the electric circuit diagram including the optimization-set as well as a picture of the control relay with the fixed load resistance. The separate optimization-set can also be ordered free of charge under code number 60-41-2920.
