4. Poster Conventions
What do you like about
them?
• In the posters I chose, I
specifically liked the
colour scheme and the
way the character were
presented..
• There is a lot of detail
and the colour scheme
matches the show’s
genre well.
• The posters genres are a
mix between action-
fantasy-horror, and is
presented well.
What are the
similarities between
them?
• The similarities between
the three is that they all
fall under the genre
fantasy. Fantasy is a
very diverse genre and
has various sub-genres
under it.
• Another similarity
between the posters is
how the main cast are all
shown on the front of the
posters in mildly dynamic
poses.

What genre
conventions do they
highlight?
• They all have
conventions that are ‘not
normal’. For example,
Konosuba works with
magic and life after
death, Demon Slayer
works with demons and
fighting techniques that
use water/fire/etc and
Parasyte works with a
Parasite that can change
your body and how it
functions immensely
5. Poster Conventions
What do they tell you
about the narrative
• In the poster for Konosuba, it tells
us that the narrative could involve
things such as magic and
witchcraft and that the 4 females
presented are the leads.
• In the poster for Demon Slayer, it
tells us that the narrative could
involve things around fighting with
katana’s. It also possibly hints us
who the protagonists and
antagonists are.
• In the poster for Parasyte, it tells
us that the narrative could involve
some mythical creature that could
affect humans. It also possibly
hints us who the protagonists and
antagonists are.
< how could you use
this in your posters?
• I could use these conventions in my
posters to highlight who the main
characters are by placing them
directly in the centre of the poster. I
could also use some of the fanatical
ideas from Parasyte to present who
my antagonist is and use the
designs as references.
• The amount of leads shown in the
front could also help me with how I
design my posters as it has an
impact on the first views on the
narrative.

How do they appeal to
the target audience?
• They appeal to the target audience
in various ways.
• One example of the posters
appealing to their target audience is
the character designs and how it fits
with their chosen genre. An example
of this is how bright and colourful the
characters look in Konosuba. Their
character designs are mildly simple
yet perfectly fit the conventions of
witchcraft and fantasy.
• Another example is the design of the
‘parasite’ in Parasyte. The design
looks gruesome and the colour
scheme is dull, which fits well with
the conventions of horror-fanatasy
10. Campaign Analysis
• The three posters in the slide prior to this slide
all come from the Demon Slayer Movie. All the
posters aid into showing different perspectives of
what the movie will be like. All the posters focus
on the story's protagonist; Tanjiro and Rengoku.
• The design of these posters are extremely
detailed with dynamic action poses. In one of the
posters, we can see one of the
antagonists/villains smiling menacingly.
• The details of the fire in the posters are
extremely detailed as well. This hints to us that
the deign to the elements deem an important part
of the story. There is also a high show of the
elements fire and water which helps shows the
dynamic between the two.
• The Demon Slayer logo also features in all
posters. Even though the characters are already
iconic enough, the logo itself is placed near by
the centre which drags attention to it. It also
shows new viewers what series it’s from. 4
