2. Introduction to project
The study looks at all the aspects of Training and Development and its importance and
recent trends in Pharmaceutical industry
Training is a process which organisations initiates to enhance their employee’s knowledge
and skills
Training also helps a person to cultivate appropriate and desired behaviour and attitude
towards the workplace and improve their efficiency and effectiveness
Training helps to learn the dynamic changes and build new competence, each employee is
liable to perform as per regulatory requirements and the norms
Training helps Organization & individual for their survival & attainment of mutual goals
3. Introduction to Pharmaceutical industry
The pharmaceutical industry discovers, develops, produces, and markets drugs or
pharmaceutical drugs for use as medications to be administered to patients
Global pharmaceuticals market produced treatments worth $1,228.45 billion in 2020 and a
compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 1.8%
Pharmaceutical industry is in a very dynamic situation in the last one decade
As Pharma industry deals with the manufacturing of drugs and medications
• It is important for the industry to employee the well trustful and an experienced staff
• Production and Supply of Standard drugs
• laws and regulations that govern the patenting, testing, safety, efficacy using drug testing
and marketing of drugs
• lack or inaccuracy can lead to a drastic complications/trouble
4. Rationale of study
The main aim of this study is to learn in-depth about training and development and also
study its importance in pharma industry and how pharma employees need to be more
efficient in their work, also the study aims on researching the recent trends and practices of
training and development in the Indian pharma industry and the study will also make an
effort to recommend various other methods of training that can be followed by pharma
industry for future.

Culture building
Our training programmes sensitise employees and help
engender an inclusive and ethical workplace. They focus
on our corporate values, women safety and inclusion.
Some of the key programmes are:
Classroom and e-learning sessions on Prevention of
Sexual Harassment (POSH), including periodic
communication and training
Induction programme
E-learning modules on success attributes
Leadership development
We run training programmes focused on enhancing
managerial capabilities and leadership acumen. In FY21,
we conducted a customised course for 50 high-
performing leaders in our India operations. Additionally,
monthly webinars were organised for leaders globally
under the VITAMIN series. Some other key programmes
were:
McKinsey management programme
First Time Manager programme that covers key
topics, such as communication, presentation and time
management skills
VITAMIN series focused on digital and analytics
adoption in the pharma sector
E-learning modules on managerial effectiveness
Data and documentation management
To help strengthen our data management processes, we
rolled out a series of programmes to help employees
effectively catalogue, analyse and store data. Some of the
key programmes were:

we conduct sessions focused on application of digital

adoption in the pharma sector

We have numerous programmes designed to upgrade
the analytical, technical and job function-specific

We emphasise on cultivating the right behavioural
attributes that can enhance the efficiency of our
employees. In FY21, we rolled out 23 new
customised e-learning modules on success attributes.
Our soft-skill focused programmes cover topics such
as:
Time management
Presentation skills
Communication skills
Ability to execute
Enguru (to improve proficiency in English
language)
Positive thinking and motivational training
Behavioural development
13. Training and development initiatives at Aurobindo Pharma
Aurobindo Pharma has partnered with GITAM University and has signed an MoU to
organise this training programme, which addresses key factors like leading self and other,
organisational leadership and personal transformation.
Aurobindo Pharma requested the Management Development Program (MDP) team at
GITAM faculty to focus on modalities which include:
Improvement of self-management skills and enable confidence to become a leader
Sharpen personal awareness of group dynamics, social processes and conflicts
Adapt to the changes in responsibilities and rise to the occasion
Examine the effect one has on others and ways to control it
Strengthen the ties between individual employees and the company.
14. Findings
The key findings after analysing both the companies initiatives towards training and
development, it can be seen that companies are now looking at employees development
and growth.
It was also seen that Aurobindo Pharma has taken the training program initiatives for the
first time to train future leaders in the year March’22 i.e., after covid
Companies are focusing towards competency based learning
Training and development have become an key implementation for engaging and retaining
the employees.
