Sherine has been assisting with Taekwondo classes since 2013, first as a volunteer and now as paid work. She teaches classes of 60 minutes, two times per week, instructing students on fundamental movements through demonstration and corrections. She acts as both a teacher and role model to ensure student safety and discipline while helping students learn Taekwondo skills, exercise, self-defense, and confidence.
3. DESCRIPTION OF SERVICE
• I’ve been assisting with classes at Triumph Taekwondo since 2013, first as a
volunteer, and now as paid work.
• I teach students ranging from children to adults the art of Taekwondo, often lead
small groups in the instruction of patterns, self defence, or step sparring.
• Classes are 60 minutes each, and I currently assist with two classes a week.
• I instruct students on various fundamental movements through demonstration
and corrections.
• I also look after the safety and discipline of students and part of my job is to act
as both a teacher and a role model.
4. BENEFITS SOMEONE WILL RECIEVE
• Students I teach will learn the art of Taekwondo, while also becoming more fit
and confident
• Taekwondo is a good form of exercise and students will be able to become
stronger and more fit through different exercises, warm ups, and games
• Students will learn different skills to defend themselves in the case of a dangerous
situation
5. TYPES OF SKILLS REQUIRED
• Leadership skills
• As an instructor, I often need to take small groups aside to teach them a concept, so I need to be able
to lead the group efficiently
• Communication
• I am able to communicate with students clearly and get my thoughts, ideas and suggestions across in
an easy to understand way
• Patience
• To teach children of varying stages, it takes patience as some children can be more energetic than
others
• I must be patient and kind to my students so they leave class feeling positive
• Ability to adapt
• Sometimes a child might get injured or a disagreement between students may occur. In this situation I
need to adapt and take care of the conflict as quickly as possible, and understand the situation quickly
+ take the proper measures
6. MY PARTICIPATION IN THIS SERVICE
• My responsibilities while teaching are to
• Supervise student’s techniques and correct them if needed
• Provide positive encouragement and praise (when deserved)
• Ensure the safety of all students
• Take small groups aside to teach fundamental movements, step sparring and patterns

• Supervise sparring matches between students, give advice and correction during
sparring and look out for safety of students
