Dear Sir/Madam
Re: OH&S officer position,
I am writing to apply for the position of OH&S Officer, as advertised recently on Pnet.
I am a highly organised, outcome-driven and motivated professional with solid experience in OH&S. I am currently
employed by T-SYSTEMS a global company currently running a project in Medupi power station (Eskom). I have
previously worked for Wise Design Africa an Electrical and Mechanical Engineering company.
In my present role, I am responsible for developing and implementing OH&S and risk management initiatives,
both site-specific and across the business. It is my responsibility to ensure that all OH&S systems are up-to-date
and adhered to by all employees. I also conduct hazard identification, risk assessments, safety audits and
accident and injury investigations, and assess workers’ compensation claims.
A big part of my job is to conduct OH&S training across the business, covering chemical and manual handling,
first aid, PPE, emergency procedures and other safe work practices in line with industry codes of practice. My
experience in training has really developed my communication skills, enabling me to communicate with people at
all levels of the business.
I am fully qualified, with a Samtrac and Incident Investigation level 3 certificates from NOSA in Training and
Assessment. It is my goal to complete NEBOSH international diploma and ISO 9001 in the near future as part of
my commitment to professional development. I make a point of keeping up-to-date with changes to OH&S
legislation, including the 2014 construction regulations.
I believe that I would be a perfect fit for your and that I could make a valuable contribution to your business. I am
driven to help organisations make their workplaces as safe and healthy as possible, and I thrive in a stimulating
and dynamic environment.
My resume is attached and I look forward to being able to discuss the position with you further.
Kind regards
Shawn Mokoena
