2. Uses- Weak Character
Our trailer uses a weaker victim. This is highlighted
with the fact that the two main characters are two
young girls. The stereotypes of it being girls suggests
that these are weaker and depends on a strong male
character to save them. In many films the female
characters are the ones that need saving and often
portray the ‘princess’ role that they need saving.
Furthermore, as they are young this also acts in their
disadvantage as young people are also portray and
weak and vulnerable and therefore need help.
3. Uses- Dynamic Music
We use a variety of different sounds throughout our trailer. At one
point there is only the sound of someone heavily breathing. This is
panic breathing and is used alongside a point of view shot. This
suggests to the audience that the character is in trouble, therefore,
this builds tension and keeps the audience on edge. Occasionally,
there is more than one piece of music playing. This is evident when
a heart beat is playing alongside other sounds which also suggest
panic and nervousness. This is shown in the photo at the bottom. A
clock ticking and a heart beat are playing together which increases
tension as an increased heart beat and clock ticking suggests that
there is something coming.
4. Devlop- Speeding of clips!
Our clips do tend to speed up as the trailer
progresses, however, we have also reversed the
clips as well. This may cause more tension as it may
slightly confuse the audience. Also the reversing of
times makes the characters seem helpless as they
appear to be being controlled very easily.
Furthermore, by adjusting the clips in this way, it
suggests that their fate has already been decided
and there is nothing that they can do about it which
may increase tension with the audience.
5. Develop- Location
Although most of the trailer is set during the
day, the location is in the middle of thick
woods. This is a stereotypical setting that is
often associated with danger and uncertainty.
We did originally want to film in darker times,
however, after sunset it become too dark and
we couldn’t see clear enough to safely film
and we also tried during sunset but this didn’t
leave us enough time to film to a high quality.
6. Challenge- Voiceover
We didn’t include a voiceover in our trailer as
we felt that this would become too much of a
distraction. We felt that it would distract the
audience from what is happening on the
screen. Furthermore, one of our major
features with the trailer is the use of sound as
it is quite dynamic so therefore, a trailer
would go against us rather than enhance the
quality of the video.
