Plano is a city that aims to engage its constituents through intentional two-way communication. To improve engagement, the city used various strategies on social media like bringing people together, asking for participation, acknowledging accomplishments, keeping people informed, and being present where constituents spend time online. While some jokes were initially thrown at the city, Plano responded lightheartedly and the positive community response showed that good engagement ideas that match the city's identity can be successful and really stick when implemented online.
