advantagesandnegativelybeingaffectedbyit.Nowadays,alarge numberof childrenplaycomputer
gamesfor a great amountof time.“A dictionarydefines‘game’as‘auniversal formof recreation
generallyincludinganyactivityengagedinfordiversionoramusementandoftenestablishinga
situationthatinvolvesacontestor rivalry’” (Jouni Smed& Harri Hakonen,2003). Parentshad a hard
time acceptingvideogamesbecause theyare consideredthe source of procrastinating.Notonlyhas
that, mastersof educationhadopinionssuchthatthe gamescan pollute humanminds.Onthe
brighterside,researchershasproventhatvideogamescanbringmore than a handful of benefits.
The effectsof childrenwherebyplayscomputergamesforlonghoursare in fourwide areassuch as
physical well-being,academicskill development,social developments,andperceptionsonreality.
Fundamentally,children’sphysical well-beingisassociatedwithpositive emotional impact.
“Moderate videogame playcancontribute toreducingemotional disturbancesinchildren”(Hull
2009). Positive psychological healthisseeninthe longtermbyboostinguptheirfeelingsof self-
confidence andself-esteem.However,the riskof obesityare likelytobe escalate amongthose
childrenwhospentample time infrontof theirscreenmonitors.Thisisbecause areportshownthat
25% of Americankidsare sufferingfromobesityandoverweight.Excessive playof computergames
alsorelatedtoNintendinitis,asknownasgamer’sgrip.Itis an injuryforthumbswellingcausedby
fatigue use of game controllers.
Subsequently,academicskilldevelopmentfactorisaffiliatedthroughcognitiveskillsinclude
problemsolvingandlogic,exposingchildrentosolve puzzleswithacreative mannerinashorttime.

Furthermore,social interactionsanddevelopmentof childrenisalsotakenconsiderationin
termsof playingcomputergamesforlonghours.Lack of communicationsbetweenfriendsand
familycouldcorrode theirrelationshipsfromtime totime.Nevertheless,astudystatedthat“76.2%
of male and74.7% of female playershadmade goodfriendswithinonline gamessuggestingthat
MMORPGs are highlysociallyinteractive”(Cole &Griffiths2007).The ideaof virtual worldgamesis
to give playersconfidence theydeserve despitetheirage,sexuality,genderorage.Prolong
computerplayinggamesmakeschildrensocially isolated.The child’stime islessspentonreading,
doinghomework,andbuildingupconnections.Infact,childrenwillbecome socialphobiasdespite

perfectanalysiswillneverconcede.A greatwayto solve thismatterisbytakingsmall actionsto
maximize the benefitsandminimizethe issue of computergamestowardschildren.Parentsare
alwayseligible forthe monitoringof childrenbehaviourtowardsmoderntechnology.
