2. INTRODUCTION AND PURPOSE OF THE
ARTICLE
This article revealed mental health issues in rural
Kentucky, USA older adults in such areas.
The study aim to improve people knowledge about
mental health problems.
The study revealed the %adults are in depression
state and identified degree of remoteness.
3. METHODS
The recruited through 2 rural kentucky counties through local cooperative
extension service office(CES).
CES serves as a link b/w state universities & to help communities individuals
and communities improve quality of life education, research& outsearch.
All intrested participents came to local CE office & participated were
contacted 3 to 6 months after assessment of follow up data.
After paticipating intervention examine changes were done. The survey
consists of 3 following sections
-demographic ( questions about based on date of birth, maritual status,
gender,
-awareness based focused on participents own perceived ability to manage
mental illness.
-knowledge focused on common myths about mental health and aging were
T/F formate.
4. RESULTS
Significant improvement across the indicators for mental health
awareness specifically trend to improvement understanding of
mental illness is not normal part of aging improvement in agreement
about-
-older adults sucessfully treated mental illness
-knowledge to recognize mental illness
-affected mental health and physical health
There were no awareness indicators did nt show improvement over
time.
Results also indicated a need to improve sustained knowledge
about clinical mental health communication.
5. CONCLUSIONS
1.To improve awareness and knowledge about
mental health and aging.
2.community mental health workers and facilities
can expect to increase awareness of their services
and utilizing mental health services.
3.Future research needs to improved knowledge
and awareness translates into improved mental
health in rural regions.
