As part of the UMD Data Challenge, took on the task to analyze the National Cancer Institute HINTS dataset. The aim was to analyze how people trust different sources for cancer information and break them down by region and ethnicity. Also, focused on what problems people face when searching for cancer information and their use of social networks for sharing of cancer-related information.

Insights
1. Out of the 45 people who were depressed, 21 belonged to the
South region. Mental health still a stigma?
2. 2. Majority of the people who have had a family history of
cancer, do NOT show signs of depression which is a good
thing.

 12.3% of people with a family history of cancer trust both doctors
and internet equally!
 41.5% people with a family history of cancer trust doctors a lot
and some internet. This means that most people with cancer
history do take the internet seriously.

2. That number is much lower in people aged below 45. Especially
low for age group 40-44, only 4.5%!

 About 62% people, go to their Doctor for Cancer Information
across all regions
 23% Use the internet for Cancer Information across all regions
 Only 9% people in the Northeast trust their doctors for Cancer
Information!

 45% people in the South feel that that are too many
recommendations and everything causes cancer. New programs
about cancer can be implemented in the South
 This number is low in the Northeast about 13% -> ties back to
how people trust their doctors less in the Northeast since they
get relevant information from other sources!
