Univision Social Media Update# 1
Social media is almost in every business in the US. To take advantage of social media I
choose a very well-known company. The company I choose is Univision or Univision
Communication Inc. with social media on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
I choose this company because I went on a informational interview to the Dallas office. I
obtained so much information from the website I can do everything for my social media
project. It was founded by Rene Anselmo in 1961 and is headquartered in New York City, New
York. I found out that it is one of the top five networks in the US regardless of language
reaching about 94% of US Hispanic television households. Univision owns and operates 61
television stations and 67 radio stations in the US Spanish market.
According to Univision’s 3rd quarter report for media, I found out more marketing
statistics and data. In their graph I found out that the term growth is 3.2 million Hispanics 18-34
added through 2025 vs. non-Hispanic decline. The long-term growth by 2060 Hispanics will
make up 31% of the population. As for the long term growth by 2060, Hispanics will make up
31% of the population. Hispanic consumer spending projections from 2009- 2024 there is a
85% increase. The 85% increase is in Hispanic consumer spending over the next 10 years. Social
media is also influential with Hispanics using 34% more vs. 21%of non-white Hispanics. Twitter
is 17% more likely to be used vs. white non-Hispanics according its 3rd quarter media report.
Univision is able to reach its consumers through various media like its cable and TV stations,
brand extensions, and internet resources.
