Next University is improving a set of
educational outcomes and goals that
puts it into a short list of real concepts
that can guide students and add clarty
to teaching and learning. The project
creates an active learning environment
that provides “hands-on” experiences
and encourages interaction among
students, faculty and professionals. The
goal of the design is to encourage and
bring out the creative thoughts in every
student through chance encounters and
interactions between the people studying
in the classroom and also in between
space. STUDENTS WORK CAFE

The lamp has a gently rounded volume that is
both sensual and elegant and is composed of
a series of overlapping rings of different
diameters, which create a unique light effect.
A diffuser screen located on the inside
conceals the technical parts and allows light
through. Formetal is a pliable metal used in
prototyping and creation of unique objects,
that makes it a formable skeleton for
sculpture, or float design. Perforated sheets
of aluminum are capable of expanding and
contracting. This holds new shapes with ease.
By playing with the negative space, Luminous
Geomentry, created varried light projections.
The external structure of the lamp is two
trapezoidal cylinders combined with each
opposite side and looks like a jar. The outside
surface is also a formable skeleton pattern
which is designed large scale of pattern with
negative space. It is designed to be
suspended from the ceiling. The formable
skeleton pattern of shadow is reflected on the
wall and floor.

Natural Muni
Spring 2015_Interior Design Studio 4
2015 Transportation Competition
The Muni is an integral part of public transit in San
Francisco, operated on the experience of the streets,
city views and the diversity of culture. The project
inspired by hills, waves, different railways and the Muni
logo.
By abstracting the form, the project manipulated the
curve as a formal language into spatial and
different programs. There are different programs based
on different demands, such as, who rides the muni,
how long do they ride, and what time do they ride.
Divided different programs into different functions of
seating. There are specific seats for baby cart,
wheelchair and priority seats with color coding on the
floor. Added small folding tables on the back of chairs
for the pupose of working.
On the back of the bus there are a series of chairs
facing outside which gives a better experience of the
view. Thinking of the large number of people travel-
ing inside the Muni, increase the standing and leaning
space. On the wall and above the window, digital
graphic map will have better guideline for route map-
ping. The choice of recycle material such as recycle
wood, stainless steel and rubber are introduced into
floor and furniture pieces.

ISLAND FERRY
Spring 2015_Interior Design Studio 4
2015 Transportation Competition
The island Ferry invites users to productively work in their private
spaces while enjoying the benefits of actively engaging in forms
of city-to-nature thresholds.
Upon arrival, riders are welcomed by a projected light on an
undulating ceiling sculpture that ripples across public spaces.
It emotionally evokes the feeling of spaciousness and congures
moods that parallel with the time of day, holiday, season, and
local events.
The ferry will have two main cabins that evoke the presence of
being in a city, paralleled with innovative products, foods,
amenities, and interactive information.

Hybrid-ism & Multi-Ethnicity : Chinatown
This concept is designed to be close to the culture and
community of Chinatown. It integrates history and
culture with the environment, focussing on the deeply
participatory process of sustainable, resilient and
beautiful design.
It changes public spaces everywhere to be converted
into vibrant citizen-centric spaces that meet both the
pragmatic and social needs of local communities.
Features of the space include, built in seating, tables,
and native plants. The ambitious project includes eating
areas, a community gathering space, and a host of
desired seasonal activities. The space becomes playful
and engaging for all of their diverse constituencies and
brings people together. People can play games and
communicate with each other. There are also designated
individual seating areas for working, listening to music or
simply just taking rest, that are fitted with solar powered
charging ports.
In Portsmouth Square there are no shaded rest areas
for people to sit at. Given that it is an urban setting, this
design provides a rest area for the community to come
together under the project of its shade.

14. CITY WITHIN CITY
Interactions with peers, neighbors,
and faculties enrich learning and the
social experience. In higher education,
it is critical to have an environment
where students, faculty, and neighbors
collaborate and educate each
other as a whole community.
“City within City” project reinterprets
the structure of the city and adapts it in
the specificity of the historical building,
that houses the academic institution,
to celebrate blending of academic
and social sphere.
This project was desined taking into
account that there are intersections
between living, learning, education
and consuming that define
boundaried for the individual and
community.

DRIVEWAY
The first floor is inspired by a plaza which is open to everyone as an engaging
and inclusive space. On both side of the building, retail stores and restaurant are
open to the community. It serves as the main thoroughfare for neighborhood
and residents. For community involvement, products in the market are locally
grown and fabricated. In the open center, streets and streams identify areas
of different programs and navigate people to places. In the enclosed corners,
there are more private resting areas for small groups of people. The center loft is
a community space to find common interests with others through collaborative
space, private meeting rooms, event space.

Flexible and multi- functional Urban space for the neighborhood interacts with peers, neighbors
and faculties to the enrich learning and socializing experience. The intensive planting of nature
both trees and garden is designed not only for their intrinsic beauty, but, also for the positive
environmental effects reducing carbon dioxide, and particulates removal by air filtration.
The concept of my design is bio-sustainability with urban plants and multi -functional buildings
that include education, living, retail, community and social areas. The design is inspired by
photosynthesis in plant cells inspired by previous research during the semester. The exterior
envelope has the function of air filtration and absorbs solar energy through a transferable module.
