Bio
Searlina is a Communications and Engagement professional, based in
Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands. She is currently Regional Head of Strategic
Communications & Engagement for Cable & Wireless Communications.
Her senior management roles include Marketing, Communications, Customer
Experience and Engagement. She is also a seasoned media professional with
experience in print and broadcasting.
Following a college career that focused on mass communications and journalism,
Searlina took up the post of Associate Editor at Cayman Free Press in July 2001
working within the organization to launch the company’s Special Publications division,
which included a range of lifestyle publications including interior design quarterly
InsideOut Magazine,tourism quarterly The Key Magazine and business broadsheet
The Journal. Searlina also performed the role of Editor for The Weekender, the daily
newspaper arts and culture weekly edition, as well as the Wednesday Caymanian
Compass Business Section, which profiles developments in local and
international commerce.
In 2004, Searlina moved to broadcast media, taking up the role of Creative Director for the Cayman Islands radio and
promotional firm Paramount Media. Paramount’s radio station – Vibe 98.9 FM, an urban/Caribbean format – operated
at majority market share format-to-format for three out of Searlina’s four years with the organization. During that time,
Searlina spearheaded the development team for the company’s second radio station – Spin 94.9 FM – a hits format
radio station and also co-hosted a morning talk show.
In 2008, Searlina took up the opportunity to move into the financial services industry and was recruited to Butterfield
Bank (Cayman) Limited, a tier-1 Cayman Islands bank, for the role of Director, Marketing & Communications. On the
brink of an international rebrand, Searlina’s new role at Butterfield entailed manning a six-person team responsible for
advertising, graphic design, corporate communications and public relations for the organization, which employs over
1,000 employees worldwide in the field of personal and private banking. During Searlina’s tenure with the bank, she
led initiatives for the development of two upscale credit cards, the introduction of two youth deposit products and the
rollout of a global technology transformation which included the conversion of all customers to a new online banking
system.
In November 2011, Searlina founded Nathan Square, a boutique firm that specialised in outsourced marketing and
communications solutions. Nathan Square provided services to organizations in need of marketing leadership and
support with scaled solutions for brand management and effective internal/external communications. In addition to
management support, production management and a creative division.
In 2014, Searlina returned to a senior private sector role at Cable & Wireless Communications where she spearheaded
the internal communications and employee engagement portion of the regional LIME Upgrade Caribbean business
initiative. While at LIME as Regional Manager Communications & Engagement, Searlina has managed a team spanning
15 markets to roll out a new sales and service culture focused on customer experience, a proactive sales manage-
ment model and employee satisfaction.
