This document contains examples of photo manipulation and graphic design work by the artist. It includes a movie poster manipulating photos to depict a psychedelic out-of-body experience, a surreal self-portrait composed of stock photos, and a Thrasher magazine redesign. Other projects include a vector portrait of Kurt Cobain, badge designs, a digital portrait, layout works such as a recruitment brochure and menu redesign, an iTunes album booklet, event promotion materials, a website redesign, and a personal logo. The artist utilizes photo editing and illustration programs like Photoshop and Illustrator to create original graphic designs and manipulate existing images for a variety of projects.

MOVIE POSTER | 1 |
Based on a movie called ‘Enter The Void’, set in Tokyo,
a young American named Oscar finds himself in an out of
body experience after being shot by the police. He hovers
over the night lit city of Tokyo and visiting the past and future.
I used blend modes to apply the textures and Hue/Saturation
to create this vibrant scene depicting the moment the main
character gets shot, sending him into a psychedelic experi-
ence. I made the ‘paint spill’ effect below for the background
using the distort tool and gradient overlay.

LAYER COMP
This mystical scene was using only
stock photos in Adobe Photoshop.
My inspiration for this piece was
from Pink Floyd’s song “Time”.
Focusing on retouching the photos in
order to make them look like they all
fit together, I made the Camera Raw
Filter, Blend Modes, and Channels my
go-to tools. The Gaussian blur tool was
useful for creating depth and shadows.
The quick selection and lasso tool was
used for making selections.

9. This was a Thrasher Magazine redesign for an October themed issue. I made the
background images together in Photoshop such as the fire, trees, and skater. To
make the fire look as realistic as possible I used the burn tool, as well as the brush
tool to create depth and shadows. The smoke was applied with blend modes. Once
the background was finished I imported it into InDesign for the captions and rest of
the text. The title “Hell of a Paradise” is using a script font by the name of Lobster.
To the right is my sketchbook full of
thumbnails I made before starting the
project. I knew I wanted to do some
thing extreme enough that it matched
Thrasher’s brand and had a halloween
theme for the month of October.
Another part of the project was to
create a subscription page for the
website. It was created in Photoshop
using all stock images. The mockup
shows the quick and attractive design
that would advertise the subscription
deal for the annual magazine.

As a huge Nirvana fan I have an appreciation
for the song “All Apologies” and inspired me
to create this vector illustration of Kurt Cobain.
It presents a line of lyrics off the album “In
Utero”. My vision was to make a spaced out,
vibrant scene with Kurt contemplating into
the distance. The gradient tool and pen tool
were a big help in creating this graphic.
13. BADGE DESIGN | 5 |
| ILLUSTRATION |
Like most of my projects, I start
off sketching my concept on
paper before going straight into
the program. I have the same
process for creating pieces like
badge designs. The San Francisco
badge was inspired by a trip I had
taken during the summer. The color
palette was selected from Coolors.
The next design was inspired by a
folk punk band called “Days N Daze”,
which is where the caption “Trade in
all your chips and learn how to be
free” comes from. I mostly used the
pen and shape builder tool to create
these designs.

Being an artist myself, I’m often
inspired to draw other artists or
musicians I look up to or appreciate.
This piece features a musician of the
name “Gustav Elijah Åhr”. I used my
Wacom tablet in Photoshop mostly
with the brush tool and Gaussian
blur. The first portion (top right) was
made in Illustrator but ended up being
rendered through Photoshop to soften
and create more shadows. I also
had brushes in Photoshop that were
helpful in creating his hair.

SIDES
This redesign was a school project for Taste of
Chicago Grill, a local restaurant in San Diego.
The inspiration for the color palette on the
outside is from the color of the restaurant. The
city buildings were made in Illustrator using the
pen tool. With the inside design I made sure to
use consistent paragraph and character styles to
layout the text, as well as the slip inside of the
menu.

This is an iTunes digital booklet
design that is included when an
album is purchased in the iTunes
store. It has a cover, song sheet,
lyric sheet, and artwork. For this
project I did it on a local band
called Wavves. The album I chose
is a personal favorite of mine called
“King of the Beach”. I created the
skull for the cover in Photoshop and
added the aliens using Illustrator.
22. EVENT PROMOTION DESIGN | 11 |
| LAYOUT |
This project consisted of designing an event poster for something local and going on around the same
time of the class. My favorite band was fortunately touring San Diego at the time so I chose Fidlar, a
punk rock band from Los Angeles known for their edgy skate-inspired music. The requirements of the
project were to design the event poster, flyers, social media ads, tickets, and billboard design. With the
emphasis on learning social media branding during this class we had to come up with a hashtag to use
on our social media ads. Since Fidlar’s new album #AlmostFree was releasing soon, I used that.
I originally drew this in my sketchbook and continued the idea in Illustrator with my Wacom tablet. I
was inspired by Fidlar’s music the most, with their recent single called “Alcohol”. Below are mockups of
the billboard, tickets, and flyers. The project was mostly made in Illustrator but brought into Photoshop
for detail, such as the texture on the skeleton’s hand/surfboard.
26. WEBSITE REDESIGN | 12 |
| WEB DESIGN |
In my digital imaging class
we are assigned to pick one
restaurant and redesign their
current homepage and menu.
I chose to do my project on
The OB Noodle House, a local
restaurant in Ocean Beach, CA.
My objective for the redesign
was to make a more inviting
and simple design. I chose a
bright photo featuring the Pho
and salads served at the
Noodle House. With Pho being
their most popular dish I found it appropriate to have
the homepage showing that instead of the restaurant
itself (which the original does). For the menu my goal
was to simply display the menu information but also
include a picture for each category as you scroll past to
make it easier to distinguish each category.
29. WEBSITE DEVELOPMENT | 13 |
| WEB DESIGN |
This was a project from
my Intro to Web class. I
learned how to use code
to make a functioning
website online using the
program Atom. The wire
frames were made in
Photoshop as well as the
site root (above). The
website was for a local
community called “Slab
City” and to advertise
the local business and
events. There was a total
of 10 pages made with
clickable links, a header,
links, and buttons.

Imported into Photoshop to add
the pink gradient. I used the font
Montebello Rounded for the

used without the gradient and as
one solid color (pictured below).
My concept for this was a “peace

of me for my brand. On the left
is my resume, cover letter, and
business cards continuing
the same theme.

This was my first freelance project where I worked with a client. They wanted a
logo and business cards designed for her hairstylist business. She wanted a colorful
logo to bring a welcoming vibe to her brand. The logo was made in Illustrator but
sketched out on paper before rendered. The business cards were crafted and
exported in InDesign (thumbnails to the right). A brand style guide was also
created, one page from it is shown below with the spacing measurements and
sizing. The printed cards had rounded edges for the matte color (gradient version).

A brand style guide
is essential for any
brand who wants to
keep a consistant
style. This guide
was made for a
personal project of
mine called ‘Sickboy
Threads’, an online
t-shirt business.
The style guide is
11x17 inches with
spiral binding at the
top, making it a flip book. I decided
to make it a flip book to showcase
the logo and brand’s visual appeal.
It includes correct ways to use the
logo, responsive versions, colors,
and fonts. It would be used anytime
someone else is handling Sickboy
Thread’s graphics or advertisements.
The flip book is 10
pages total but here
is 2 pages featuring
the typography and
alternative logo use.

PACKAGE REDESIGN | 17 |
CONES
This was my second time practicing with a die
cut, which gave me more freedom on creating a
complex design. I chose to redesign a box from
the brand OCB. I wanted to incorporate illustration
with packaging to create a spaced-out scene with
the “O” as a planet. The illustration was made in
Illustrator while the text was applied in InDesign.
The die cut was later imported into Oragami to
make sure it was functioning. To make this box I
made 2 different die cuts, 1 the pull out tray and
the other to cover it.
