1. If you are to choose between manual health care system and computer health care
system, which one would you prefer and why
I prefer Computer Health Care System, because Computers now can control lab
equipment, blood pressure monitors, heart rate monitors, and other important medical
equipment, as well as notify staff if something is not right. In some cases, computers
can aid doctors in procedures, making situations more safe and convenient for both the
patient and the personnel. While computerized equipment is monitoring a patient, it is
also collecting the data constantly so it can be accessed in the future if needed. They
are increasingly used by health-care practitioners for patient information, record
keeping, communicating with colleagues, devising strategies for patient care,
interpreting lab results, and research. Using computers to communicate adds efficiency
and simplicity to their jobs. Instead of taking messages or leaving notes, they can chat
in real-time so important information is relayed when needed. Computers can run
simulations to try and find causes and cures for diseases and work with other machines
to increase the chance of success. Especially computers are being used to help avert
medical errors or eliminates human error.
2. How does computer plays a big role to health professionals
Their use has increased efficiency and reduced human errors. Apart from providing
regular updated information and streamlining medical education and health care,
computers do play an indispensable role in administration and management via regular
and timely updates and through availability of its world wide web.
Computers enable nurses to quickly access important information about your health or
illness and your treatment plan from your electronic health record. Nurses can access
information such as your laboratory test and x-ray results and health reports from other
health-care team members to give you the best care possible. Computers can keep
track of prescriptions and billing information. They can be used to store the information
about the medicines prescribed to a patient as well as those, which cannot be
prescribed to him/her. Computers enable an efficient storage of huge amounts of
medical data.
Nurses can record your health information, treatments and progress for ready access
and use by other health team members. Nurses may use the computer to search drug
databases, libraries and best practice resources to obtain important information related
to your diagnosis and care or find health education information for you.
