GIGRIN FARM “RED KITE FEEDING” WITH
ASHLEY GROVE, Powys
Wednesday 20 February 2019
The Red Kite Centre is located in the most beautiful
countryside, in the heart of Mid Wales, overlooking both the
Wye and Elan Valleys. Hundreds of Red Kites choose it to feed every day.
It is a truly breath-taking spectacle which we invite you to come along
and witness for yourself. Previously a struggling species, down to just 60
pairs in Wales, Gigrin now attracts up to 400 individual birds on a single
day. Visitor hides allow you to get close to the afternoon feed and afford
wonderful photographic opportunity. Other birds attracted include
Buzzards, Ravens and Grey Herons who all join in on the action. With a
stop planned en-route to spot other local birdlife, our very
knowledgeable resident guide Ashley Grove will be on hand to answer
all questions and provide birdy trivia related to our feathered friends.

HARDWICK HALL (NT) WINTER GARDEN,
Derbyshire
Thursday 28 February 2019
Created by a cast of thousands, including the formidable
'Bess of Hardwick', who first fashioned Hardwick in the
1500s. In the centuries since then her descendants, gardeners, and
craftsmen of all kinds have contributed to the Hardwick story. Every nook
and cranny of Hardwick garden is awash with colour as spring arrives.
Blue and purple iris quietly thread their way amidst snowdrops and the
zingy yellow bursts of daffodils transform the winter border. You'll also
find traditional spring favourites like brightly coloured tulips and, later in
the season, the delicately-scented lily of the valley. Nursery-grown bulbs
are on sale in the outdoor Plant Shop, so you can re-create this magic at
home. Includes: Admission and On-Board Coach Welcome.

SOMERSET LEVELS “NATURETREK” WITH
ASHLEY GROVE, Somerset
Tuesday 15 January 2019

thousands of birds flock to make dancing shapes against the sunset. The

WELFORD “SNOWDROP WALK”, Berkshire
Wednesday 13 February 2019
Once owned by monks then by King Henry VIII, Welford Park
is now well known for its displays of snowdrops in early

covering approximately 5 acres alongside the River Lambourn. In the
formal gardens to the South of the Queen Anne House you can view
some of the more-rarer species. Snowdrops are nearly always found in
abbey ruins and graveyards, and were planted by Norman monks as a
symbol of purity and the cleansing of the earth after winter. Traditionally
seen as the first sign of spring, weather dependent of course, come and
