Herefordshire is one of the UK’s major agricultural county’s
for crop production – whether it be apples for ciders, barley
for beers or potatoes for spirits. Keeping this as the theme for the day,
we commence with a visit to the Cathedral City of Hereford, where you
can explore the city at leisure. After lunch it’s time for some
‘ginspiration!’ Although a relatively young distillery, Chase is different,
producing its spirits from potatoes, from its own farm. Discover William
Chases’ story with over 20 years of local history, starting as a potato
farmer to then producing the brand of Tyrell’s crisps before finally
diversifying in to the manufacturing of Chase gin and vodka. Our expert
guide will talk you through everything from the traditional mashing,
fermenting and distilling processes, to finishing their bottles by hand.
Step outside the front door into their rolling potato fields and cider apple
orchards to see the raw ingredients that go into the making of their

Winchester Cathedral Flower Festival promises to see the
Cathedral transformed by thousands of flowers displayed in

Cathedral flower arrangers will fill Winchester Cathedral with spectacular

WELL DRESSING IN BUXTON
Sunday 8th July
The Derbyshire tradition of Well Dressing started in Buxton
in 1840. This custom is still continued today, when floral
decorations are placed around the wells of the world famous Buxton
Spring Water. The whole town then springs to life with a street Carnival
and Fair to add to the occasion. We meet our Guide outside the Opera
House for a short walking tour which will include the Wells and some
general local history. The Parade commences around 1.45pm from
St Anne’s Church and includes brass bands, assorted floats, carriages
and fancy dress characters, including the Well Dressing Queen.
The procession finishes up at the Opera House around 2.15pm.
Free time in Buxton after the Parade. (Please note that this is a FREE
