Herefordshire is one of the UK’s major agricultural county’s
for crop production – whether it be apples for ciders, barley
for beers or potatoes for spirits. Keeping this as the theme for the day,
we commence with a visit to the Cathedral City of Hereford, where you
can explore the city at leisure. After lunch it’s time for some
‘ginspiration!’ Although a relatively young distillery, Chase is different,
producing its spirits from potatoes, from its own farm. Discover William
Chases’ story with over 20 years of local history, starting as a potato
farmer to then producing the brand of Tyrell’s crisps before finally
diversifying in to the manufacturing of Chase gin and vodka. Our expert
guide will talk you through everything from the traditional mashing,
fermenting and distilling processes, to finishing their bottles by hand.
Step outside the front door into their rolling potato fields and cider apple
orchards to see the raw ingredients that go into the making of their

Cathedral transformed by thousands of flowers displayed in

Cathedral flower arrangers will fill Winchester Cathedral with spectacular

Winchester Bible, the largest and finest of all 12th century bibles in

weekend an international fleet of tall ships take over the
city of Liverpool for the start of the Three Festivals Tall Ship Regatta.
The ships are a stunning spectacle and there is the fantastic opportunity

world. 2018 also marks the 10th anniversary of Liverpool’s Capital of
Culture and the subsequent celebrations mean there is even more to
see and do during your northern city excursion.
WELL DRESSING IN BUXTON
Sunday 8th July
The Derbyshire tradition of Well Dressing started in Buxton
in 1840. This custom is still continued today, when floral
decorations are placed around the wells of the world famous Buxton
Spring Water. The whole town then springs to life with a street Carnival
and Fair to add to the occasion. We meet our Guide outside the Opera
House for a short walking tour which will include the Wells and some
general local history. The Parade commences around 1.45pm from
St Anne’s Church and includes brass bands, assorted floats, carriages
and fancy dress characters, including the Well Dressing Queen.
The procession finishes up at the Opera House around 2.15pm.
Free time in Buxton after the Parade. (Please note that this is a FREE
Street Parade and is watched from a standing position. Due to the steep
hill in the town, we suggest the best place to observe the procession is
from the Opera House).

We pause in Melton Mowbray for a short while, before
continuing to Belvoir Castle. Belvoir Castle is located near
the town of Grantham in Leicestershire, overlooking the Vale of Belvoir.
Home to the Manners family it still remains the seat of the Dukes of
Rutland. This irregular shaped Grade i listed building has an impressive
large round tower with the interiors featuring lavish staterooms and
many works of art. Rooms include the Elizabeth Saloon, the Regents
Gallery and the State Dining Room. The castle sits in an estate of almost
30,000 acres and has been used as a location for several films and
television programmes including Little Lord Fauntleroy, starring Sir Alec
Guinness; The Da Vinci Code, where it was used to portray Castel

We travel to the historic Anderton Boat Lift where we take
a combined lift and river cruise to see this magnificent
Victorian boat lift in action, and cruise along the picturesque River
Weaver to Northwich and back. There is free time for lunch and time

As seen on TV in BBC’s ‘Stargazing Live’ series, Jodrell is a great day

We visit The Vyne, a warm red-bricked Tudor mansion, built in the

stained glass, and exquisite wood carvings in the Tudor chapel and fine

Chute family, including furniture, tapestries and paintings, Murano glass

special trail which incorporates specific memorials, trees and
