GREAT CENTRAL RAILWAY “STEAM GALA”,

The Great Central Railway is the UK's only double track, main
line heritage railway. It's the only place in the world where
full size steam engines can be seen passing each other – just as it was
when steam ruled the rails. Whether you are travelling on the steam
locomotive, the diesel locomotive or their DMU which gives panoramic
views through its front and rear windows, the journey is spectacular
starting at Loughborough Central and terminating at Leicester North. The
view constantly changes by passing a factory that was the home of
Ladybird Books, famous the world over for its children's books, the
remains of a concrete tank trap built in World War II , the Swithland
Reservoir open countryside to the wooded hills of Charnwood Forest –
there is a lot to see on this day out.

include Queen Caroline’s Cabinet of Curiosities – a collection of objects
from around the world and the 16th century painted King’s Staircase
depicting frescoes of the court of King George I. The very popular
Victoria Revealed exhibition marks the 200th anniversary of the Queens
birth at the Palace. Also, with over 30 acres of lush Gardens, the Palace
is a true tranquil urban oasis. Diana, Princess of Wales was particularly
fond of the Sunken Garden which was transformed into The White
Garden in her memory – HRH Prince Harry and Ms Meghan Markle
chose this location to hold the official photo call to mark the

A repeated favourite with Johnson’s customers – Kew Gardens has the
world’s largest collection of living plants. Set in beautiful landscapes with
glasshouses and such a vast range of rare and beautiful plants, there is
plenty to see. We visit during the Orchid Festival, a spectacular display of
colour. Explore the exotic world of orchids and tropical plants and find out
about the importance of these beautiful and diverse species. Includes:

Back by popular demand! We make our way through the stunning Peak
District scenery to the historic town of Buxton, where we make a short
stop for coffee. We continue through the majestic scenery to Bakewell,
where there is time to explore and have lunch and perhaps try a pudding
or two! We then make the short journey to Rowsley where we will enjoy
a nostalgic return train ride to Matlock on the Peak Railway to enjoy
more of the beautiful Derbyshire countryside. Includes: Train Ride and

and is within the Brecon Beacons National Park, just north of the Black

“Town of Books”, it is the National Book Town of Wales and its numerous

THE PEOPLES POST, London
Today we bring five centuries of communications history to life. With the
help of our Blue Badge Guide we start our walking/coach tour,
highlighting reminders of the historical Penny Post network. Discover the
old parish markings, street and shop signs used to deliver the letters
before the use of house numbers and postcodes. We have free time for
lunch before our afternoon visit to the Postal Museum. This brand new
state of the art museum offers interactive galleries and extraordinary
collections of postal history over the decades. We also have the chance
to journey back in time as we ride the hidden tunnels of the Mail Rail,

GIGRIN FARM “RED KITE FEEDING” WITH
ASHLEY GROVE, Powys

The Red Kite Centre is located in the most beautiful
countryside, in the heart of Mid Wales, overlooking both the
Wye and Elan Valleys. Hundreds of Red Kites choose it to feed every day.
It is a truly breath-taking spectacle which we invite you to come along
and witness for yourself. Previously a struggling species, down to just 60
pairs in Wales, Gigrin now attracts up to 400 individual birds on a single
day. Visitor hides allow you to get close to the afternoon feed and afford
wonderful photographic opportunity. Other birds attracted include
Buzzards, Ravens and Grey Herons who all join in on the action. With a
stop planned en-route to spot other local birdlife, our very
knowledgeable resident guide Ashley Grove will be on hand to answer
all questions and provide birdy trivia related to our feathered friends.

The habitats at Ham Wall have been created from old peat
workings and are now a mature and thriving wetland made
up of extensive reed beds and open water, grassland and woodlands. A
visit to the Somerset Levels during January can be a breath-taking
experience as it is one of the best places in the UK to see one of
nature’s true wonders. British Starlings, are joined by others from Europe
and form huge groups at dusk called Murmurations, where 100’s of
thousands of birds flock to make dancing shapes against the sunset. The
day involves taking in some of the local birdlife such as the elusive
Bittern and Marsh Harrier as well as various waders before ending with
the Starling’s show. As an added bonus, our very knowledgeable
resident guide Ashley Grove will be on hand to answer all questions and
provide birdy trivia related to our feathered friends.

WELFORD “SNOWDROP WALK”, Berkshire

Once owned by monks then by King Henry VIII, Welford Park
is now well known for its displays of snowdrops in early
spring, and for being the location of The Great British Bake Off since
2014. The Snowdrops displayed at Welford Park are in a beech wood
covering approximately 5 acres alongside the River Lambourn. In the
formal gardens to the South of the Queen Anne House you can view
some of the more-rarer species. Snowdrops are nearly always found in
abbey ruins and graveyards, and were planted by Norman monks as a
symbol of purity and the cleansing of the earth after winter. Traditionally
seen as the first sign of spring, weather dependent of course, come and
see the change of season taking place in front your eyes. (Please note –
A good degree of mobility and sturdy footwear is advisable on this

EXCURSION & SHOWTIME
BOOKINGS
To make a provisional booking, a simple
telephone call is all that is needed. We will
hold places for you without obligation for
7 days. You can book directly with our Travel
Office, through an appointed Travel Agent, or
on-line at www.johnsonscoaches.co.uk.
Please note that provisional bookings will
be cancelled automatically if payment is not
received within 7 days.
CONFIRMATION OF BOOKING
In order to confirm your booking, we require
payment in full within 7 days. Once payment
is received, we will send your confirmation/
receipt, the number and location of seats
booked. Pick-up times will be confirmed
within five days of the excursion departure
date. Please check your confirmation
details carefully, as any alterations and
pick-up point changes within 8 days of
the excursion will incur a £10 per booking
administration charge.
METHODS OF PAYMENT
All normal methods of payment, including cash,
are possible at our Offices. By post, with a
cheque or by debit/credit card – i.e. Switch,
Visa, Mastercard, by telephone or by post.

REDUCTIONS FOR SENIOR CITIZENS,
STUDENTS & CHILDREN
Senior Citizens and Students (with a valid
student card) are carried at the Concession:
rate. Children aged 4-14 are carried at the
Child: rates listed in this brochure. Please note
we cannot accept unaccompanied children
below 14 years of age.
CANCELLATION
(a) BY THE COMPANY – Should
circumstances arise where, due to less than
20 bookings, we are forced to cancel any
excursion; all monies paid by all passengers
for that particular excursion will be refunded.
Following that, the Company shall be exempt
from any further liability. However, in addition to
this, we will offer a 5% discount off the price of
an alternative excursion booked as a result of
the cancellation.
(b) BY THE PASSENGER –
For Excursion Bookings
You may cancel your booking at any time
prior to departure, subject to the following
conditions:
(i) For cancellations notified to us more
than 7 days prior to the departure of the
excursion, a £5.00 charge per booking is
made.
(ii) For cancellations for which less than
7 (but more than 1) clear working days’
notice is received, a £15.00 per person
charge is made.
(iii) For cancellations made within 1 working
day of the excursion, the full cost of the
excursion will be charged.
(iv) Special cancellation charges may apply
where admission tickets are purchased in
advance.
(c) BY THE PASSENGER –
For Showtime Bookings
You may cancel your booking at any time
prior to departure, subject to the following
conditions:
(i) Should cancellation occur at any time
prior to departure, a charge will be made for
the relevant show ticket cost included with
your Showtime excursion, plus £10 per
person to cover administration, unless the
tickets are re-sold.
(ii) Where tickets are re-sold, a £10 per
person administration charge will be made.
PERFORMING ARTISTS
For some shows, it may be advertised that a
well-known personality is taking a starring role.
We cannot be held liable, if on the date of our
visit, the personality is unable to perform and is
replaced by an understudy.
ALTERATIONS
The Company reserves the right to alter
excursions or prices, the size, seating
arrangement and specification of the
vehicle used, or to cancel any excursion
listed in this brochure.

BOARDING INFORMATION
Notification of Boarding Times
Times will be notified by email, or text at
approximately 5 days prior to the departure
date. Customers who are not contactable in
this way will have their times notified by post.
Group Booking
When reserving 15 or more places in a single
booking, we are pleased to offer 1 pick-up
from a location of your choice (Subject to
vehicular access). Discounts may also be
available dependant on numbers booked.
Late Booking
If your booking is made within 7 days of
departure, some pick up points may not be
available and payment in full is required at
the time of booking. Please check with our
Reservations staff who will be happy to
advise you.
Feeder Vehicles
Feeder vehicles may be used to bring you
to join the main coach. Please note that
the feeder vehicle may be a Coach, Minibus
or Taxi.
