This document discusses the extraocular muscles and fasciae surrounding the eyeball. It describes the orbital fascia, bulbar fascia, Tenon's capsule and its expansions. The recti muscles insert into the sclera slightly posterior to the limbus. The levator palpebrae superioris originates from the sphenoid bone and splits into superior and inferior lamellae that insert into the upper eyelid and conjunctiva. Individual extraocular muscle actions are also summarized, with the superior and inferior recti and oblique muscles producing elevation and depression, respectively.
