1. GRAND
Canyon By Sam Smith
Have you ever heard about the Grand Canyon? Or even wonder about it? Did you ever want to
do the moon walk over it? Well, with this I'm going to tell you all about it!
There’s three things I’m going to tell you about 1 How it was formed, 2 how big it is, and 3
People history there. Lets start with how it was formed.
First of all it was predicted that the Grand Canyon was around for a million years and that the
Colorado River carved it.
And it is also considered one of the most amazing Semi-Arid Structures in the world!
The rocks that flowed in the Colorado River cemented and formed in the canyon making layers
in the canyon.
In present times the Grand Canyon is 4,321,560,409.021 Years old and it took 2 billion years to
form the grand canyon.
After the complete formation of the Grand Canyon the rocks eroded and metamorphosed into
new rocks like limestone asbestos and others many people never heard of!
Now, besides all that formation wouldn’t the SIZE of that thing question you?
Well, say no more I'm about tell tell all about that!
Grand Canyon National Park, a World Heritage Site, encompasses 1,218,375 acres and
lies on the Colorado Plateau in northwestern Arizona the completely important semi-arid
structure that Indians believe it was made by the gods!
The Canyon, incised by the Colorado River, is immense, averaging 4,000 feet deep for its
entire 277 miles. It is 6,000 feet deep at its deepest point and 15 miles at its widest. However,
the significance of Grand Canyon is not limited to its geology.
And The Park contains several major ecosystems. Its great biological diversity can be
attributed to the presence of five of the seven life zones and three of the four desert types
in North America. The five life zones represented are the Lower Sonoran, Upper Sonoran,
Transition, Canadian, and Hudsonian. This is equivalent to traveling from Mexico to Canada.
The Park also serves as an ecological refuge, with relatively undisturbed remnants of dwindling
ecosystems (such as boreal forest and desert riparian communities). It is home to numerous
rare, endemic (found only at Grand Canyon), and specially protected (threatened/endangered)
plant and animal species. Over 1,500 plant, 355 bird, 89 mammalian, 47 reptile, 9 amphibian,
and 17 fish species are found in the park!
If not amazed there is more!!
The Grand Canyon is considered one of the natural wonders of the world largely because of
its natural features. The exposed geologic strata - layer upon layer from the basement Vishnu
2. schist to the capping Kaibab limestone - rise over a mile above the river, representing one of the
most complete records of geological history that can be seen anywhere in the world! That’s is
why it it important.
The Grand canyon contains twenty-four layers of different rocks
asbetos,limestone,sandstone,shist,country rock,dime,and more!
Now that you understand its mass, why not stay for the people’s history is like?
Today it is known man stepped foot on the Grand Canyon 10,000 years ago by Hura Sadue a
Indian that heard the Colorado River is nearby and he discovered the canyon.
In the 1869 an explorer named John Wesley and his men discovered the grand canyon and
used it for his own tourism like for his own likings.
Soon as others discovered strange people mined in the canyon for something secret.
Ben Gahul in the late 1900's discovered the miners were Japanese Footmen that were secretly
trying to get gold!
Soon as the 20Th century came Miners discovered the grand canyon contained a complete
layer of limestone so they made a bridge for the miners to get to the limestone.
So the history may hide its secrets by itself and now that you learned so much pat yourself on
the back its time to wrap up!
I hope I gave a lot of good helpful information about the Grand Canyon and if it helps you look
