Film Pitch Script
Slide 1: Film Idea
‘Last Exit is a spy action drama that follows my film character I
developed last year during AS coursework.
The narrative follows my spy character on the run from his own bosses.
My plot has a narrative twist to add suspense and create audience
engagement. In the next slide, I will talk about the film narrative.
The locations will be in a Downtown Dubai apartment for the interior
shots and the Dubai Desert from highway filming and desert shots.
My idea to continue the storyline from AS coursework to A Level is
because of my research of genre conventions of Spy Action films.
Slide 2: Narrative
The narrative of my film is full of post twists to help engage the
audience and meet the genre conventions of a thriller or drama. The
audience will have expectations of specific conventions such as fact
paced car chases, violence like fight scenes, strong male characters and
a damsel in distress female style character.
The synopsis of my film is “It’s time for the last exit, one last mission,
one way out.”
The storyline is ‘Kidnapping the love of his life so she cannot disturb his
last exit, government Spy - James Tyson is on the run from
government agents, he has to make a difficult choice to escape his ex
bosses after a mission has gone wrong, he has to find a way out or take
the only way out - his own death!”
Slide 3: Genre Conventions
From my research I know that conventions of the narrative of spy
action drama films are action sequences, car chases, fight sequences
and uses of violence.
I am planning to use all of these in my film.
Slide 4: Technical Ideas
I am using specialist equipment to film a car chase to be able to attach a
camera to the side of a car for specific cameras shots and to make an
interesting mise-en-scene in some scenes. I will try to make camera
shots as interesting as possible. This is a picture of the type of camera I
want to use on the left, if I can’t get access I can try the iPhone
technique to try to get the type of camera shots I want.
I will also be using a drone camera for car chase sequences to create a
high angle birds eye view shot of the car chase as this is a convention I
have seen from similar films I have researched.
Slide 5: Audience Considerations
I have considered the audience in my film plans because I have
researched audience expectations in terms of genre conventions and
what my target audience would expect from a spy action drama. I think
my target audience is the B and C1 types of audience members from the
audience D1 scale and are middle class and lower working class. I think
this because the use of violence and action might not suit a higher class
audience.
I also think my film will mainly attract men but because my film has an
emotional sad ending women might also be interested once the
audience talk to each other about my film. I also plan to research the
audience more throughout my pre production.
