1. LOCATION RECCE AND RECCE PHOTOS
As It is not possible for me to do a physical location recce about my filming
locations, I have completed research into the locations I will be visiting. I
have screen-shot three definite locations (Google Maps) that I will be
visiting, Salcantay Mountain, Lake Titicaca, and Machu Picchu. Whilst
completing my storyboard/shot list I have envisioned a simplified way of
allowing my target audience to understand and visualise Paddington Bear’s
journey across Peru to his destination (home).
I have taken inspiration from current feature films that my shared audience
would’ve consumed and therefore can relate to the visualisation aspects
(UP, Bolt, Zootopia). The similarity between these three visual examples is
that recognisable and obvious imagery are used to represent and pinpoint
significant locations on the large scaled map. The use of bold imagery on
the maps- allows the children (my audience) to highlight where the
fictional characters are in relation to the storyline.
I want to use this visualisation in my music video for Paddington’s
adventure to and across Peru. So, some form of animated sections is going
to have to be considered. As a general first idea for my significant
pinpointed locations on the Peru map, I want to include a:
Sand/Water section. Mountain section. Jungle section.
The three different locations would make up a third each of the Peruvian
terrain and environment- allowing the music video to explore Paddington
Bear’s challenging exploration into the three sections as he progresses
home.
SAND/ WATER SECTION
2. This is Lake Titicaca, it straddles over the border between Peru and Bolivia in the Andes Mountains, it is
one of South America's largest lakes and the world’s highest navigable body of water. It is said to be the
birthplace of the Incas, as it is home to numerous ruins. I will filmmy sand/water sections here to capture
the dominance of water, and the heat of the desert. So that these factors are evident in Paddington’s
challenging adventure.
MOUNTAIN SECTION
This is Salcantay Mountain, it is the highest peak in the Vilcabamba mountain range, and part of
the Peruvian Andes. It is in the Cusco Region, about 60 km northwest of the city of Cusco. It is the 38th-
highest peak in the Andes, and the twelfth-highest in Peru. I will film my mountain sections here to capture
the sheer scale and diversity of weather in mountains. So that these factors are evident in Paddington’s
challenging adventure.
JUNGLE SECTION
This is Machu Picchu, it is an Incan citadel set high in the Andes Mountains in Peru. It was built in the 15th
century and later abandoned, it’s renowned for its sophisticated dry-stone walls that fuse huge blocks
without the use of mortar, intriguing buildings that play on astronomical alignments and panoramic views.
Its exact former use remains a mystery. Which is why it is one of the seven wonders of the world. I will film
my jungle sections here to capture the vastness and mystery of the jungle. So that these factors are
evident in Paddington’s challenging adventure.
3. These are the other locations that I will be using for the opening and ending scenes of my video- the
airport and front door for the beginning scenes, to establish the domestic life that Paddington Bear is
leaving. And the garden location for the final scene when he is reunited with his original family in Peru.
