withyou. I had Sam inthree classes Iteachat TexasA&MUniversity,Galveston (MicroeconomicTheory,
International Trade Theory and Global Economics & Enterprise Management). His performance was
strongas he received the grade of A in microeconomic theory and B in the other two courses. Sam has
been attending all his classes regularly and that shows me that he is taking his responsibilities very
seriously.Iwasimpressedbythe critical thinkingof Samwhichisamongthe highest I have ever had. He
nevertookanyof the materialsdiscussed for granted and he was always asking for alternative ways to
persuade himthata particulartheoryor economicview wastrue. Sam never hesitated to participate in
class discussions and that shows me that his communication skills are strong as well.
I had the chance to assess Sam’s writing, as well as analytical and presentation skills with two
challengingtermpapers,one of whichwas twenty pages. Sam’s presentation skills were pretty strong
as he was very confident presenting his research to his colleagues. As far as his analytical skills are
concerned, I can attest that they are outstanding. His paper in Trade Theory was the best in the class
and Sam didnothesitate toelaborate ontheorieswe previouslydiscussedin order to make his points. I
will neverforgetwhen,duringhispresentation,he presented a mini model of migration he created. As
hisprofessorIcouldnot be prouderfor him.Inmy view Samgot the most out of this class, compared to
his colleagues, regardless of the fact that his overall grade was a B. In my view, Sam’s analytical,
attention –to-details skills and overall potential are not truly reflected with grades.
I have beenluckytoteach inrelativelysmall classesof nomore than 35 studentsand I hadthe chance to
interactwithSamduringclasses,as well asduringoffice hours. Samhasa pleasantpersonality and he is
a very positive and outgoing person. I am confident that he will be a great colleague with strong work
ethic. For all the above reasons I am honored to highly recommend Sam for the position you offer.
