To whom it may concern
It is my pleasure to provide a recommendation for Mr. Yukun (Max) Wang. I have known Max since
he enrolled as a student in my Marketing class at the DeGroote School of Business, McMaster
University, in the winter 2014 semester. Since then I have had the opportunity to observe him both at
a professional and a personal level.
As a student, Max brings to class a keen intellect and enthusiasm for the subject. I often find that
students, international students in particular, struggle to voice their opinions and discuss ideas in
class. Not so with Max! He often contributed his ideas and informed opinions during in-class
discussions (he was in the top 15% of my students in participation in class). Max also performed
quite well on written assignments and exams – in a team-based report to develop a marketing plan,
his team turned in a very good report, scoring one of the highest grades in class of 90 out of 100 (the
class average was 81). In the course overall, he was among the top 10 students in class and he
obtained a final grade of 81 out of a possible 100 (the class average was 75). His reports and
presentations in class demonstrated creativity, he has very good quantitative, reasoning, and
presentations skills, and he possesses the ability to distill most key issues in a business situation.
Overall, Max was a pleasure to have in class.
I saw many examples of Mr. Wang’s contribution and efforts during my Marketing Concepts and
Applications class. This course is based on case analyses and involves substantial discussions,
presentations, brainstorming, team-work, engagement, and interaction between students and the
professor. Max was one of students who participated enthusiastically in every class discussion, was
collegial and constructive in his comments and helped our discussions move forward. Although he
was not proficient in English at the beginning of class, he is quite confident and he works really hard.
With the passage of time, he made a huge improvement in his communication and presentation skills
and obtained very good grades in class.
Mr Wang also has outstanding analytical skills and is able to juggle multiple tasks under time
constraints. In addition, he is a very collaborative person and worked very well within his group
often suggesting innovative solutions for the case analyses. He is well respected by his peers and gets
along with all of them.
As you see from this letter, I think highly of Mr. Yukun (Max) Wang. I have no hesitation in
recommending him to you. I am confident of his abilities and potential – both of which are high, in
my opinion. If you are looking for a competent, flexible, bright, articulate, and hard-working person,
I strongly urge you to consider Max. If you have any questions regarding him, please feel free to
contact me by e-mail at bsud@uoguelph.ca.
Yours sincerely
