2. About BRC Global Standards
The BRC Global Standards are used by food companies around the world to
demonstrate their commitment to food safety and quality, and to gain
certification. Certification to the BRC Global Standards is recognized by many
retailers and food service companies as a requirement for suppliers, and it can
help companies improve their processes and reduce the risk of food safety
incidents.

3. Overview of BRC
• The BRC Global Standards are used by food companies
around the world to assess and manage the safety,
legality, and quality of their products. They cover a range
of requirements, including HACCP (Hazard Analysis and
Critical Control Points), food safety management
systems, site and product standards, and supplier
management.
• Certification to the BRC Global Standards is recognized
by many retailers and food service companies as a
requirement for suppliers, and it can help companies
improve their processes and reduce the risk of food
safety incidents.
• In addition to food safety, the BRC also works on a range
of other issues related to the retail industry, such as
sustainability, ethical trading, and data protection. The
BRC provides training, research, and other services to
help retailers and their suppliers improve their operations
and meet industry standards.
4. BRC Global Standards For Food Saftey
The latest revision of this standard is the BRC
Global Standard for Food Safety Issue 7 published
January 2015. This standard specifies the food
safety, quality, and operational criteria
requirements that food manufacturing
organizations must fulfill with regard to legal
compliance and protection of the consumer. This
standard has a series of food safety requirements
that must be met from food production to sale to
the final consumer.
• It provides a framework to manage product safety
integrity legality and quality ,and the operational
control for these criteria, in the food and food
ingredient manufacturing processing and packing
industry.
6. BRC global standards for packaging
• The BRCGS Packaging Materials Global Standard helps a site or
operation to demonstrate they are providing products that are
quality assured, legally compliant, and authentic.
• The first to be recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative
(GFSI), BRCGS Packaging Materials is now in its 6th edition and
has become the global industry benchmark. It is not only used by
food packaging producers but also by producers of packaging for
all applications, across the supply chain.
• The standard is applicable for operations that:
• Produce packaging materials for conversion or printing
• Supply packaging materials from stock where additional product
processing or repacking occurs
• Manufacture and supply of other unconverted or semi-converted
and used or incorporated
7. BRC global standards for distribution and storage
The BRCGS Global Standard for Storage and Distribution covers all
activities that can affect the safety, quality, and legality of food,
packaging and consumer products in storage and the process of
distribution; as well as activities provided by contracted storage and
distribution services.
Having BRCGS Storage and Distribution certification can help
logistics and warehousing companies to access new markets and
win business with food manufacturers and retailers/ supermarkets.
The British Standards Institution (BSI) is licensed to provide BRCGS
Global Standards audits, certification and training, and are an
approved BRCGS Storage and Distribution Certification body and
accredited training organization.

Agents and Brokers (non-manufacturing traders)
who buy, sell or facilitate the trade of products,
provide a critical link in the food supply chain, and
are an essential part of maintaining food chain
transparency, traceability and integrity. The BRCGS
Global Standard for Agents and Brokers provides a
framework for importers and exporters to manage
food product safety, quality and legality for their
involvement in the food supply chain.

11. What is the consumer products standards?
Consumer products, also referred to as final goods, are products that are bought by
individuals or households for personal use. In other words, consumer products are
goods that are bought for consumption by the average consumer. From a marketing
perspective, there are four types of consumer products, each with different marketing
considerations

12. BRC global standards for Retails
